Everything under the sun: Coffee-shop Talk

  1. Started by Cecil Lee,

I transit Beauty World.. and today realised that there is a "Chinese wedding shop". Caution: I have no dealings Nor bought anything; here. On apperance seems not much.. hmm Just that such shops are harder to find or sustain.. in SGP... Most likely since it is not in a high-end mall... but a 1979's type mall; hopefully it's price is not out of the world .. Other than During CNY, most decorative items are hard to find.. Also cannot say if it is around in the next few months or years.

[Note: Masjid in Malay simply means a Mosque.] Masjid Hajjah Fatimah was built between 1845 and 1846. It stands on the site of what used to be the house of its founder, Hajjah Fatimah, from whom it takes its name. Hajjah Fatimah was a wealthy Malay woman from Melaka. She married a Bugis prince and was widowed at a young age upon which she took over her husband’s business with great success, conducting extensive trade and owning many steamers and sailing vessels. In the late 18303, her home was ransacked twice by thieves. Grateful to Allah that she was unharmed, she donated money and the land which her house stood on towards the building of a mo…

Northpoint city Just T.O.P. So Long as the government continues to increase the population; these brick and mortar shops may survive. Else, you see one; you see all. Harvey Norman.. blah blah blah.. Previously topped up several Bagus food court cards at Woodlands.. then it closed down..and swallowed the amounts in the prepaid card. Now the Bagus, here gave me a bitter aftertaste.

  20. Things haven’t changed for this provision shop frozen in time... This shop looks run-down. But since it is located in an old HDB estate... in fact, it brings character to the whole area... Hey! I am not stooping down to do toilet "business".. don't get me wrong! Looks like may survive.. although the shop does not look modern, yet the goods are displayed in an orderly fashion.. and the shop also looks neat and spacious... This lady was seeking advice from the shop-keeper. And I heard, she very much took the shop-keeper's advice.. Thus nothing beats "expert" advice.. Which one can no longer find in a convenience stall.…
