[Note: Masjid in Malay simply means a Mosque.] Masjid Hajjah Fatimah was built between 1845 and 1846. It stands on the site of what used to be the house of its founder, Hajjah Fatimah, from whom it takes its name. Hajjah Fatimah was a wealthy Malay woman from Melaka. She married a Bugis prince and was widowed at a young age upon which she took over her husband’s business with great success, conducting extensive trade and owning many steamers and sailing vessels. Aristolochia gigantea Aristolochiaceae Giant Dutchman’s Pipe A robust vine from Brazil, the Giant Dutchman’s Pipe is so called due to the unopened flower’s resemblance to an old-fashioned smoking pipe. When in bloom, the large showy flowers (20cm wide) emit an odour which attract insects such as flies for pollination. Stiff downward-pointing hairs inside the flower prevent visiting insects from leaving, which deposit pollen on the stigma situated deep in the floral (perianth) tube. The insects escape when the hairs are relaxed as the pollen are released. Flower of Aristolochia gigantea, showing numerous stiff hairs for trapping pollinators Photos: Edmu…

Gay world (Happy World) Originally known as Happy World, Gay World offer an escape for families between 1930s and 1960s. Standing out from other `worlds', it housed a covered stadium that could seat up to 7,000. Top-class boxing matches, basketball, martial arts and other sporting evens were held here. Wrestlers such as "Tiger Ahmad" and "King Kong" attracted crowds. At it's prime, it was even lauded as the "greatest coveredstadium in South East Asia". The Octagonal shaped Happy world stadium was where Singapore first played host to Thomas Cup in 1952, which Malaya had famously won and reigned for three consecutive badminton tou…

This is the first time I personally come across such a scheme:- HDB Full Agent Services $2888 From advertising, viewings to documentations, our HDB full agent services are at a Fixed Rate with No Commission. Best to read the fine print if any. And do one's maths to see if it is beneficial or not....hmmm....

Many Coffeeshop toilets are simply walk-in/out designs. Without needing to push a door. The Cubical urinals are shielded by this lesser design.

Lights, camera, action...Politics is equally about exposure... I mean advertising/marketing.. What more if Politicians can be perceived to be subliminally visible day and night. Now we know why in every estate our MPs Make sure that they prominently display their face all year round... Kudos... starting early... four years before the next elections..no wonder... landslide almost everytime... "We are always there -- not necessarily for you .. but we are highly visible. What Opposition? Let them bite the dusts" Thus in the event that some claim that they only seem to "SEE" their MPs once every 4 years... This is simply no…

Dear Master Cecil, I apologise if it is doubled. There is trouble in opening my post. But I have to repeat all over again. 1. My main door is facing directly with my neighbour. Somehow we do not have good relation each other. Should I put convex or concave mirror? The plus point is my neighbour in slightly better financially compare with me. The minus point are some poisons arrows too from other houses and this direct neighbour also has large convex mirror just right behind the main door but outsider can see clearly, worse they open the door most of the time. 2. I have placed 2 windchimes but less effect though. If I have put the mi…

Dear Master, I would like to start my question in this forum with a simple question. I have a house with the main door facing directly with neighbour's main door. In front of neighbour's main door, there are some medium size tress yet we still can see each other through. This kind of situation is not auspicious, worse still our relation is not good with each other. Might be because of the main door. There are some poison arrows too from other houses. I have placed windchimes but it is less effect though. I would like to place mirror. My questions are: 1. Is it better to place conVEX mirror or concaVE? My front neighbour somehow is better finacia…
