1. Many of the letter boxes in Singapore public housing i.e. Housing & Development Board Flats have letter boxes that have sealed openings to prevent outsiders from placing especially flyers into these letter boxes. 2. Only the postman is suppose to have the master key to unlock the back of all letter boxes to allow him to post letters into individual letter boxes. 3. During one of the nights, "caught" this lady (on camera) inserting fliers into letter boxes. She uses a ruler to try to push or force open the letter box lid. Here, I believe she is paid by someone to help insert their flyers. 4. How do you call this? Vandalism?? Or is she doing a decent job? 5.…

The three storey Adelphi Hotel shifted the third time tothis location at Number 3 Coleman Street. And was there until it permanently closed in 1973. It's last business day was on 25 June 1973. It was considered as Singapore's oldest hotel. The entire building was totally demolised in 1980. And five years later, a smaller office-shopping complex replaced this old grand dame. What a pity! In my opinion: Today, this site is not exactly "clean". As some units.... have sightings of...

Under Malay culture; because they use their hands both for eating and doing "business"; This is what a typical fully customised "business" centre of the Malays are about... There is always a washing pipe.. close-by. In the "poo-poo" cubicle; there is always a water pipe and a small plastic container to contain water. Can you see the white plastic container beside the "throne seat?" And NO! The washing pipe on the right side of each urinal is not meant to wash a Male person's "JOYSTICK"... It is for him to wash his hands after he had aimed, shot and place his joystick to "safe mode"...

Apparently, these two cutie babies (young children) were left by her mother outside a Video Shop. The video shop was showing a Korean film. And I believe the family are Koreans.. Note: The man in the picture does not belong to the family, as he left afterwards. The mum, around 20 minutes later appeared. How's this for unattended "child care" at a shopping centre. This shows how safe, Singapore is! For a mum to leave her childern to shop (perhaps nearb-by). By the way, the girl dropped a plastic bag containing some purchases by her mum. I helped picked it up and returned to the eldest (girl). She is very cute and offered me her drink!

Power Balance bracelets exposed as a sham Georgina Robinson December 23, 2010 - 12:20PM A bracelet worn by high profile sports stars that claims to improve athletic performance has been exposed as a sham by the consumer watchdog. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has ordered Power Balance Australia to refund all customers who feel they were misled by the supposed benefits of Power Balance bracelets. The wristbands were touted as providing better balance, strength and flexibility by working with the wearer's "natural energy field". English cricketers Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Strauss, AFL bad boy Brendan Fevola, St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt and N…

Although the attached layout plans are very common for Singapore government board flats (HDB); When I first received a copy of one of them; at first glance, I thought they were the same! While, they are not exactly the same identical layout plan; as there are slight differences especially the entrance to the kitchen; but, overall, they are very similar in many ways! Can you see the differences? There are some who are concerned with the kitchen entrance visible to the main entrance door of the Bukit Panjang unit. By the way; both blocks/units TOP at thes ame time: one is in Bukit Panjang and the other at Ang Mo Kio.

This postcard was taken in the 1970's. Therefore, there were few tall buildings. The tall buildings on the right of the photos like People's Park Complex and other buildings were only constructed after the 1970's.. Previously; the building covered by clay (reddish) bricks was the only tallest building around in the 1960's. It is the forerunner of the now Housing Development Board (HDB). And guess what... it is a diving platform for a one-way trip to HELL! In the past;?one could often?see an old lady standing on the road cursing at the building. Why? That was the building where her son tried to be a superman.. but failed miserably.. or rather fatally!

This muslim shrine is behind a row of shop-house in the Tanjong Pagar area. Wow! This muslim shrine is there since 1891. And engraved are the words "Shrine of Sharifah Rogayah". And it looks like it has been taken care of! And someone or a group of persons still pay their respects as flowers still line the tomb... A search in the internet yield some resources and one of the several links shows:- http://www.spi.com.sg/spi_files/sharifah_rogayah_shrine/main00.htm

In Singapore, it is illegal for school children to enter the premises of an arcade game kiosk / store or area. However, it can be ambigious if we have a grand-mother who loves the arcade sharing her love of it with her beloved toddler! This grandma seems to love playing a game with her friend at an arcade at basement 1, Compass-point, Singapore. Let's hope her charge does not one day; become addicted to the arcade; thanks to her grandma!

These are some of the most memorable sms exchanges:- Client who SMSed me about her contractor: "They claim is abt the same.. Beige category.. Just slight difference... Nevermind, I will ask them to change to barley white then .. They said lily white is less beige than barley white" Cecil Lee's reply: "Lily white is slightly pinkish not the same as barley white. Lily white and barley white are not twins but rather distant cousins" Client: "Hahaha I like your way of drawing the slight difference.. Twins but rather distant cousins. Best! Thank you for your advise. Will get them to change:-) ============================= After several SMSes (advice to another client):- His r…

I find this article a great life learning experience! In accounting; this is called "zero base accounting" i.e. starting from scratch! This article is indeed a good guideline to life learning! Source: The Straits Times, 1 June 2011:- Pay for towels at this hotel: TUNE (Chain of) Hotels Tune Hotels has adopted a budge airline approach where guests pay extra for extras. "When we first started, people thought we were joking," said Mr Lankester, a former entertainment industry executive. "But we're not hoteliers, so we were prepared to try."
