1a. Type of Housing: Public Housing Estate 1b. Location: Common area in a specific estate in Bukit Batok Street 21 2. Did you see the two barbecue pits? 3. Frankly, this is my very first time seeing a barbeque pit specific for Muslims (as muslims don't eat pork = Malay word = babi ) 4. Perhaps, for some of you; this may be common-place. So far, I have yet to see such a designation or signage specific for this reason. 5. This is for info only .. as I mentioned above.. something rather new to me. Hope this posting does not "trigger" any race riot of sorts! It is really new to me. 6. Is this common especially in Muslim countries; or automatically all barbecue pits in Musli…

In my opinion; for safety reasons; many swing doors are up to waist or slightly higher. In the attached photos; there can be a remote possibility that especially the upper panels may one day accidentaly slam the panel onto a person's face - if they are not careful.

  5. Bukit Panjang is Malay for "a long spread of hills". It is also the name of part of a range of low hills that run from Mandai, in the north of Singapore to Bukit Timah in the south. Forty years ago, the area was occupied by farms, granite quarries and fatories that produced household goods. There was a shoe factory, a factory for canning food and a dairy farm owned by supermarket chain Cold Storage, after which Dairy Farm Road was named. Bukit Panjang Village was found at a roundabout that linked Woodlands, Bukit Timah and Choa Chu Kang roads. In the 1980s and 1990s, the Government cleared the area around Bukit Panjang Village and built Housing Board flats. The name…

The name Ang Mo Kio has been used since the mid-1800s, with early 19th-century maps marking the area as Amokiah, from whch its name is derived. But the meaning of Ang Mo Kio is unclear. In Hokkien, it can mean a foreigner's bridge or a tomato. The town was also the firs to be designed in metres and centimetres instead of the imperial system of feet and yards.

  8. This informative signage is placed amongst a bed of hibiscus at the newly TOP Livia condo at Pasir Ris Grove, Singapore Hibiscus Court Family Name: Hibiscus rosa-sinensis member of the Malvaceae family Common Name: In Singapore it is often called the bunga raya or "flower of celebration" This plant with several hundred species is believed to have an Asian origin, hence the name rosa-sinesis which means "Rose of China". More details can be found when we look at the Greek word for Hibiscus, which means "Mallow" and therefore links the name directly to the Malvaceae family. Hibiscus Tiliaceus or also called Sea Hibiscus is commonly found in Singapore. All over the …

By Asian standards, this lifebuoy is placed too high! Although it is a good thing to place it high i.e. to avoid people playing aroundwith it; but as a lifesaver, this isdangerous! Hopefully, thiscondo has more lifesaving devices than only this lifebuoy! Please it lower - STU-PIG! Location: The Tropica... 2011 P.S. If this is for real = real lifesaver; it should always be placed at least at an adult's waist level; to ensure that even a 10 year old child is able to get hold of it. This is pure commonsense. If it is merely for decorative purposes.. then... nevermind..

    1. This popular porridge (pork & fish) + raw fish stall is opened for just a few hours in the morning: 1.1 From: 6am to 9am from Monday to Friday. It does not open on Saturdays and Sundays. 1.2 The above excludes the preparation of the raw fish and other ingredients. 2. Most likely the sellers benefit from low rental and their popularity. See the queues. 3. I am also one of the guilty ones that faithfully line-up at 6am whenever I have assignments close-by. This is because there were times (in the past that I went there at close to 9am and was even told - "no more" - closed) and were the unlucky ones in the queue to be told about it.

  13. Location: 588 x Ang Mo Kio Street 52. (For privacy, I have masked out the exact unit number.) Did you see a water melon hung in-front of the unit number plate. Did you also see two halves of a water melon. (Plus a lime cut-into-two pieces)Each half was placed on each side of the floor of the main entrance. A candle stick each was also placed and most likely lighted up when the family just moved-in. The red colour dye is most probably vermillion which is red in colour. And don't mistaken it for some ritual slaughter of an animal's blood. .

In the 1990's and even in 2002, large influencial sites like Geomancy.net with it's huge resources on Feng Shui was literary blocked in China. 3. As previously the late Chairman Mao, during the communist time, felt that either Feng Shui is a threat or a belief. 4. Fortunately, in the last few years, whilst in China, I tried to log in to my website: Geomancy.net and was pleasantly surprised that it is no longer filtered or blocked. 5. At that time, I don't know why, but China considered Feng Shui a religion. 6. Just imagine, Feng Shui is a Chinese institution and at that time; C…

  21. Please don't look at the photos especially if you are about to eat something or have eaten your fill.... Using broken glass to line or protect the walls of homes were very common in the past. Let's say it was acceptable in the 1960's. In the past, the glass shards were relatively shallow and smaller. But wow! The glass shards here are certainly meant to "murder" someone! Very scary stuff!

Nowadays, Singapore Post Office (SingPost) don't deliver mails on Saturdays. And on occasions, I have encountered posting ordinary mails and the other party claimed that they did not receive it especially when posted in such letter boxes all over Singapore. Now I get! To me such, I have never ever seen such a signage placed so visible on a letter box, before (ever!) Is the message on top of the box trying to imply something? Please read between the lines....
