The three storey Adelphi Hotel shifted the third time tothis location at Number 3 Coleman Street. And was there until it permanently closed in 1973. It's last business day was on 25 June 1973. It was considered as Singapore's oldest hotel. The entire building was totally demolised in 1980. And five years later, a smaller office-shopping complex replaced this old grand dame. What a pity! In my opinion: Today, this site is not exactly "clean". As some units.... have sightings of...

The Builders of This Spanish Skyscraper Forgot the Elevator The Intempo skyscraper in Benidorm, Spain?standing proud in this image?was designed to be a striking symbol of hope and prosperity, to signal to the rest of the world that the city was escaping the financial crisis. Sadly, the builders forgot to include a working elevator. In fairness, the entire construction process has been plagued with problems, reports Ecnonomia. Initially funded by a bank called Caixa Galicia, the finances were recently taken over by Sareb ? Spain?s so-called "bad bank" ? when the mortgage was massively written down. In part, that was a function of the greed surrounding the project. Initia…

Dear Anon, When I am free, will post more information on this. Currently, the relationship of planets and even the Big dipper has relevance to Chinese Astrology. As most of users are more concerned with what goes on, on planet earth, I believe, we can skip this area first and concentrate on more `earthly things' and when there is less to discuss, would be glad to post more on Chinese Astrology (stuffs). Warmest Regards, Cecil

1. Although the topic is "The design tricks that keep skyscrapers from swaying seems remote or does not seem to have anything to do with Feng Shui." 2. Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, it is equally important to understand a related topic such as "wind votexes" on a building/block/stack and unit. (Above: The Florence Residences) (Above: Treasure @ Tampines) 2.1 A Shapes and Forms expert always also looks at the external of the site and the positioning of the various blocks/stacks and how wind flows and wind votexes (if any) on such a block/stack/unit. 3. This is why, when one often looks at my reviews on developments, I often illustra…

THE TRACKLESS TROLLEY OF SINGAPORE The early history of Singapore is shrouded in mystery. It seems to be established that the Malays settled there 1360 A.D., followed in 1377 A.D. by the Javanese who had invaded the island. Marco Polo does not mention it though he wintered in Sumatra on his way backin Europe. It was supposed to have been an important trading center in the early centuries, but when Great Britain acquired it, it was wholly uninhabited save by a few families of wild Malay fisher folk andl was a rendezvous of pirates. Today it is one of the world's chief distributing points for the commerce of all nations, truly a "crossroads of the world." Under British ru…

That killer outfit you just brought home from the dry cleaners really can kill you, experts warn. That's because perchloroethylene (perc), the chemical used by most dry cleaners, has been linked to a multitude of health woes - including cancer. "Perc is an effective cleaner; but it's also extremely toxic. It enters the body through the skin and respiratory system, is stored in the fatty tissues and stays with you for a long time". Perc has been classified as a dangerous chemical for years and studies have shown exposure to it increases the risk of bladder and esophageal cancer; asthma and reproductive problems. People who work in or live near dry cleaners are most at ri…
