Everything under the sun: Coffee-shop Talk

  1. Dear Anon, 1. I do not believe that the subject is taboo. Sorry if it seems to make one think that I find such subject taboo. Let me share with you my personal views on the above issues. One reason why sometimes, I do not reply these messages is because, it is difficult to give an advise without knowing more or as I believe, other avenues would perhaps offer a better solution to Feng Shui. So I have "procrastinated" answering these questions. To those users, sorry about it. I do intent to reply the few questions on these issues. I also do not like to give advise if I believe it cannot work (although it can raise hopes! Which is the lesser evil?) Should I then give false h…

Dear Darlene, 1. Sorry for the late reply. 2. Presently there are no ISO standards or standard practises in Feng Shui. 3. I would rather call it Geomancy as Feng Shui alone is not really enough to cover the scope of a full " Feng Shui " audit. 4. In my opinion, it takes years and years of experience plus constant studying and updates to come to a level of not only understanding but applying `Feng Shui'. As Rome was not built in a day, Geomancy study needs lots of understanding and more importantly, applying what most likely works and discard the `bad' practises. 5. I therefore cannot blame you for being `confused' with so many practices in Geomancy. Furthermore, there …

  3. Started by André,

Dear Andre, In my opinion, there should not be any impact of what you have described. Usually, the emphasis is more to see if the `main entrance' door is protected from `harm' i.e. poison arrows. As such, floorings are of secondary importance. Where possible, floors should ot be entirely dark. The house should not look `dark' but bright. Especially the living room making it more yang than yin. Contrast to the bedroom where it is more for sleep which should be more yin than yang. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  4. Dear Annon, Sorry, for the late response. I totally agree with what you have written. For this reason, "in between messages", I am trying to post some symbols of significance to the Chinese. I agree with you that we should discuss more of symbolism, since there are already alot of resources dedicated to clearing doubts on various Feng Shui issues. Perhaps, you have correctly pointed out that this is the right time to discuss whenever we can symbolism. Earlier, I decided not to discuss `symbolism' was because, there are still so many questions relating to how to effectively use proper Feng Shui or to differentiate those that works and those that are not Feng Shui. My fear…

  5. I HAVE BEEN STUDYING/READING BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT OF FENG SHUI FOR 3 YEARS NOW. IN THAT TIME IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE THAT ONE BUILDING WILL SEEM TO RESPOND POSITIVELY TO THE CURES OF ONE SCHOOL OF FENG SHUI WHILE ANOTHER RESPONDS BETTER TO ANOTHER, FOR EXAMPLE: BLACK HAT MAY SUGGEST BLUE/ WATER IN THE NORTH IF IT IS A PROBLEMATIC AREA,WHILE COMPASS WILL SUGGEST TO REDUCE THE NORTH WITH GREEN WOOD (IF NORTH IS A NEGATIVE DIRECTION IN THAT PARTICULAR HOME). IT TAKES A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TRIAL AND ERROR AS WELL AS INTUITION TO DISCOVER TO WHICH THE BUILDING WILL RESPOND.

Dear Anon, Grateful if you can elaborate further on this. If I get to understand, as the cross road is a "cross junction", there can be at least two houses that can have this configuration. From what you have mentioned, at the moment cannot seem to find a rationale for the initial good luck for the house. Perhaps, you can elaborate which book or site you seen this and what is the rationale for the author to write it in this manner? The only remote possibility is that the author had treated the road as a False dragon. But again, I would need the full facts before I am able to make a proper comment. Else, it has to be discounted. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, You brought up a very interesting question. My views are as follows:- 1. It has to depend on the quality of the Feng Shui " Master ". Many people simply give themselves title the Master title. Most people who are naive will equate all Masters to be equal. I believe it is best to go to the `root' of the situation by employing a reputable Feng Shui Master/ Practioner either through word of mouth or by their `reputation'. I believe that "You pay for what you get." 2. The best Feng Shui practioners are those who are willing to help others (of course with a fee involved). Contrast this to those who only want to earn money at their expense. Again this is difficult …

  9. Dear Anon, One good example is at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/grandpa1.htm This type of house has to eventually be pulled down i.e. demolished and rebuilt. Usually, the senario is like this: 1. The breadwinner will die shortly after it is constructed. 2. Other family members will have a hard time `keeping' it although the next breadwinner will not die but will have lots of difficulty. 3. If this second breadwinner (usually the inheritants) does not sell the house, it will be `forced' sell e.g. bankrupt or near bankrupt. Near bankrupt if he sells early and avoids this. 4. If the house is sold to another party, this party will have financial problems and will eventually have…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, to a geomancer, this is like an other `occupational' risks inherent to their occupation. Usually, to eradicate `ghosts or spirits', this would be referred to an appropriate priest/monk etc... The homeowner is the one who has ultimately to make the decision he/she wants to call in. It can be a Catholic priest, a Christina pastor, a Toaist, Buddhist or others such as ghost catchers. The FS practioner can try to advise on how to reduce Yin influences. Like you mentioned if a FS practioner is not well protected, he/she can get sick. In fact, doing FS audits on the wrong dates can cause `harm' to the FS practioner. There are dates where a FS practio…

Dear Kris, It is best that you superimpose the Eight House Template which is available at either: 1. Manual method: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm (with detailed instructions on how to do a survey). 2. Computerised method: Free computerised Eight House at www.geomancy-online.com My advise is that you should try out the above to check your auspicious and inauspicious sectors. After doing so, see which location is closer to your best auspicious intangible force. If it is an inauspcious intangible force, and if the room is between two compass directions e.g. NE or N (as an example), it is best to sleep closer to the least bad influence i.e. NE = death or disaster line…

  13. Hi Anon Cecil's course IMHO is very well structured with lots of examples coming from his 101 Feng Shui Tips and Examples.I found the course easy to understand and most importantly, Cecil and Robert as you well know, are prepared to answer all questions. I can assure you not all Masters are this generous. I am an accountant by profession but gave it all away in 1994. My chart indicated that I would study metaphysics so I followed this path and with excellent Masters like Cecil and Robert, have been able to set up a practice here in Perth where I have a strong client base. One never stops learning about Feng Shui..there is just so very much to learn, and when done correctl…

Dear Glyn, Glad to hear from you on actual happenings in Perth. Just to share with everyone: Currently a few users have used the " Anonymous " feature when sending mails in this forum. Here are the plus and minus points of sending mails Anonymously: 1. It is ok if you are sending many individual questions on each specific topics as the message will not be sent out thru the mailing list unless it has been replied. This is ok as, many users will then be able to read only the replies rather than the question first. 2. If any users do see " Anonymous ", it does not imply that it is only one person who sent it. As the adminstrator of this forum, I am able to see who sent the …

  15. Dear Joe, Thanks for your comments. So far, other than hiring a good consultant, one do not need to spend more money than is necessary especially in a home environment. As you also mentioned, we should go down to the basics of Feng Shui and always have an inquiring or questioning "mind". It is good always to ask questions what and why do a practioner say this or that. Ask for an explanation. And make your own personal judgements. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, Sorry for the delay in reply. Besides other activities, Robert and myself were busy configuring each of our new notebook to cater for the increased mails. The purpose of calling this entire site - Center for Feng Shui Research is that: 1. We are not restricted by practising only one School of Feng Shui or owe allegiance to only one " Master ". Overall, as you can see, it is good to learn Feng Shui from many Masters. Personally, I now have at least more than 400 books on Feng Shui both Chinese: from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong and many others. 2. Like the Kung Fu movies we see, you will notice that the actors usually start off getting `bullied' and as a result they lea…

Dear Glyn, Please read below:- Nope it is not necessary. Whether or not is good or bad, it depends on additional compounded influence. For example, even if he is travelling in his bad direction (which everyone will do so sometime or other). It is the influences of that trip that makes the difference. For example this person is a weak wood, but his friends with him are weak water etc, they are heading for the mountain (with nature - wood, earth). His direction is travelling say West (Metal) which is unfavourable, but that along is not significant enough for any inauspicious or unhappy influence. Rather if his friends he is travelling is Strong Metal and maybe Strong …

Dear Brigitte, Thanks for bring up this interesting question:- 1. Human beings are very complex and currently there are many books written on human relationships, motivation, human interaction etc... but so far no book can explain in detail our personal interations. 2. Some situations are based on the maturity of the couples and the way they tolerate each other. 3. There are many influences on our lifes and relations such as our upbringing, education, personal experiences etc... This is why, sometimes our Pillars of Destiny i.e. our Heaven Chart based on our birth chart changes and this can be explained in an example:- If you do a search, I mentioned the Right and Left Br…

  23. Hi, It is not possible to predict time of death accurately unless you want to do a full detailed case study of a person for every year, month, day and hour? At best most Masters would do is give a general prediction of good or bad events. Do you know when would you encounter "Death"? It is encountered when very likely the 10-year period has a warning that you are unfavourable to that period. Remember a directional influence in the 10-yearly chart, if you ignore that and persist in travelling towards the direction of your unfavourable influence. That would again unfavourable influence towards you. In addition, if the annual luck is against you, or if there are any clashes…

  24. Started by Kieron,

Dear Joe, I would also like to add to this topic. The reason it was considered in the Flying Star, is due to Astrological reasoning that Grand Duke or Tai Sui is the largest star in which is thus supposed to have some magnetic influence over the rest. This means that it would disturb the existing magnetic influence of the sector which the Grand Duke is in. Personally, I do not see how it can really affect someone if a person offend it because of the great distance between the stars. However, as many events in the past seems to support that offending such a star has great disasters, the Chinese normally will choose to believe rather then throw it away. However, there are n…
