Everything under the sun: Coffee-shop Talk

  1. Dear Anon, As you have correctly mentioned Chinese astrology can be quite `similar' in its approach with say the Western Astrology. The reason why, we do not want to discuss Chinese astrology at the moment is because most of the `analysis' done e.g. predictions in books are all based only on one's Year of birth. This is like comparing apples with oranges. Here, Pillars of Destiny (which is not Chinese Astrology) uses not `4 pillars' i.e. Year, Month, Day and Time. So how can we compare the `prediction' of Pillars of Destiny with a basic Chinese Astrology `chart' based on just the year of birth. Furthermore, we have added two more pillars of destiny into version 8. In addi…

  5. 1. One of my most favourite watch is the Tag Heuer: 3000 Professional Series two tone Gold and Silver look watch. 2. This series was sold around twenty years ago. And no more in production. 3. So happened that I was on a Feng Shui audit and saw the couple's parent's each wearing one. 4. All of us loved our (this series) watch. And here goes: a photo of the THREE watches. Mine is the centre one (boy-sized) watch. Note: the Man-sized watch had it's watch face changed that is why the Tag Heuer logo is coloured. Otherwise, the logo on the watch face is suppose to be in distinct all black... Although these watches don't cost that much; but...... (Location/event: …

Dear Terry, Frankly, it has more to do with symbolism than to find a gourd that is opened or closed. If it is placed in a toilet environment i.e. lots of moisture, then, ideally the material in which it is made of should be able to "withstand" such an enviroment. Whether it has an open "mouth" or closed one should not be a major issue, here. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Terry Yuen wrote: Regarding hanging a gourd between the toilet and the master bedroom, can you elabotate the gourd should be opened or closed at the top since they are sold hollowed out with the top as a stopper.

  9. Dear Joe, Thanks for your comments. So far, other than hiring a good consultant, one do not need to spend more money than is necessary especially in a home environment. As you also mentioned, we should go down to the basics of Feng Shui and always have an inquiring or questioning "mind". It is good always to ask questions what and why do a practioner say this or that. Ask for an explanation. And make your own personal judgements. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  13. Dear Rose, To answer some of your question:- a. For the poison arrow from street lamp, if you have aday curtain keep it close so that the lamp does not cut into your home. b. A house with missing corners is typically not good. There is very little you can do to fix this given you are on the 2nd floor. But such corners does make decorating it quite a challenge. c. As for the clutter, unfortunately too much items makes anyone feel uncomfortable. You should try to do some cleaning to clear some of the unused item. Also having lots of storage space can help keep such items out of sight. It seems that you had posted several posting. And seemed quite desperate. The best I …

This is a short write-up on the legend of the Three-legged toad. Which I had included in the Poll of the Three-legged toad:- There are two versions to the legend of the Three-legged toad:- 1. A Chinese Immortal Lui Hai was said to live in the era of the Sung dynasty in the province of Shensi. According to legend, he was the general who successfully fought off Lord Liu (Master of the Sea Toad). To this a statute of Immortal Lui Hai with his three-legged Toad is considered the symbol for money-making. 2. A second version: Legend has it that there was once a Toad which lived in a deep well and emitted poisonous vapors. Immortal Lui Hai lured the creature with a string of gol…

Dear Ellen, There is often no issue in hanging a personal portait. Often, it can be hung along the staircase landing area or in the living room area or a prominent wall within the living or study room. Only avoid hanging the portait against the same wall as the toilet bowl. Or facing a toilet or facing the kitchen entrance area. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Peck Wun, Please see below:- It depends. Feng Shui is all about trying to squeeze as much luck as possible for a home. On some areas, this is highly impossible. But overall, it is about trying to squeeze as much luck of the home as possible. Let me illustrate:- Based on what I have experienced: ================================ Take for example: the Rivervale Crest condominium. This condo, TOP last year. And when I first discussed the layout plan with a few clients who had purchased it, one or two years prior to their taking the keys; they have a toilet at the centrepoint of their home. Nevertheless, fortunately, the condo unit they are staying is more of rectan…
