This water fountain is technically based on the Five Elements concept: circular ball represents metal tall structure represents wood made of granite = earth element add water and also a light, becomes a full five elements concept. BUT, this design is "hell of an ugly" in today's modern times... It may look cool in the 1980's but.. rather "ancient" today!

  5. This picture was taken today (6 June 2000) of the Fortredale. On this side of the building (there are two sides), at the higher floors it shows only one unit being occupied. In a city like Singapore, where apartments are snapped up the moment they are `sold', there seems to be few take up (actually staying) in these apartments. Earlier, I mentioned that the windows of this apartment are not conducive for a humid and hot city like Singapore. In fact, most Singaporeans have also, I believe found it not `practical' to stay in. In my opinion, the curtains in the apartment shown, looks `make-shift', and (unfortunately) reminds one of a refugee camp. This recent picture (Plea…

It is typical of many if not all Chinese restaurants to use red for their main entrance. This restaurant uses a " Fan " shaped signboard. In Mandarin the phonetic sound of a Fan is " shan " represents good. At the same time, many Chinese scholars or officials used to carry fans and even fans were frequently used by Chinese Immortals. Here, fan is considered an auspicious symbol as it is said to also help drive away evil.

  9. This boutique freehold development located in district 15 has interior layouts that are well-thought out. Even if it is a 1 bedder, 2 bedder or 3 bedders; the architect has managed to fully maximize the floor area. If one can see, in this 2 bedder illustration; the entire unit is a rectangular shape with a minor extension at the main entrance area. The rest of this small development's other layouts also share a well thought out design. By the way, the small size of the unit is made-up by huge

Singapore has very few circular blocks of flats (a condo). In this case three circles that form the distinctive The Draycott (around Stevens Road). Often, one thing for sure; it is more difficult for built-in cabinets and wardropes...

  17. This house is literally at the end of Shelford Road. And as the road leading to the main gate is a large distance, it will not be affected or similar to homes that are just at the fringe a road. For example, a home at the "T" junction is literally so close to the fringe of the road; and if there is run amok vehicle, it would easily plough into a home.

chanced upon this and also noted that the apt front faces a junction. Although situated on the outward bow of the road, the opposite road bows inward. What is such effect on the residence especially one on the low level.
