In many of the pictures you will see that the flags are placed according to North, South, East and West. You can also see the romanised character of each of the Mandarin word for: North - Bei (or a good example is Beijing, the capital of China. Where `Bei' refers to North and thus one can now understand that Beijing is located in the `north'. South - is known as `nan'. East - as `dong' West - is `xi'.
