BALESTIER ROAD Balestier Road is a street that offers visitors a taste of history. With a story that spans nearly 180 years, this neighbourhood has borne Witness to Singapore’s journey from a British trading post to a modern city-state. Today, Singaporeans flock to Balestier Road to feast on chicken rice, bak kut teh (pork ribs tea) and tau sar Piah (flaky pastry with abean paste filling). Others come to buy lightings goods and fixtures for their homes and bathrooms. But behind the five-foot Ways that still line much of Balestier Road, there are other discoveries to be made. Catholic: The Church of the Holy Family in Katong Even near-by roads are named after it. Such as Chapel Road. Did you see how many languages? English, Mandarin & Indian. Representing the wide influence it has with these three races in Katong. The construction of the road, now known as East Coast Road in early 1920 facilitated the development of Tanjong Katong. Some families purchased plots of land in the area, which included Mr. James Leonard Scheerder, who developed a coconut plantation around Marine Parade, Chapel and East Coast Road. The De La Salle Brothers also bought a plot of land, at which the St. Patrick's School now stands. At that time, the Broth…

Although this home has "less privacy" because of the way the ventilation areas were designed into the high wall bordering the house. But because of this type of design; as a result; this home should be more airy and well ventilated. Nowadays, we seldom see such a "see thru" design. However, there are variants of such a design where "half-walls" are/were constructed instead of a full inverse triangular "openings". Who cares if occasionally others can see into the home. So long as it is both functional and practical for the household! Of course, this is Singapore and not the US. Where most homes don't even have a "keep-out" fencing.

1. What makes you think that these Two homes belongs to the Roman Emperor and his sons? 2. Your home's main door better steer clear of these two roman Guards wielding their swords.. 3. It is the equivalent of your neighbour pointing two cannons at you (your home)! Bad luck! 4. Equally bad karmas for the owners of these two homes. 5. It is like the devil patting itself on the shoulder...

As mentioned; previously; based on common sense; the test is whether a run-away car can slam into a home / gate or garden... In this example; it might be possible for both homes: marked in red = A and/or marked in purple = B. In doubt; avoid purchasing such homes.

1. These pattern(s) of floor tiles has it's roots or origins with Islamic geometric patterns. 2. These tile patterns were popular in the early 1930's to 1950's.... 3. These two homes along Ceylon Road are using "replica" designs"... as often, due to wear and tear, misuse and renovations; many of the original tilesare long gone... 4. It is a pity that most of the homes have been stripped of their ornate wall tiles and beautiful facade! Like the home with the RED main door!

Homes with reinforced concrete roofs As reinforced concrete roofs does not add to to gross floor area; it is quite popular with both home and new buildings... In a hot and wet country like ours; this means that it either offers welcome shade or allow one to partially leave the windows ajar without fear of rain water leaking into a home... This redeveloped home is a few months closer to T.O.P. P.S. In the past few years; the main disadvantage of it is hygiene: where birds can perch on it and deficate on the ledges.. bird flu viruses etc..
