This Chinese religious home has a highly decorated frontage. With a Tee Kong (Earth god) figurine and altar on the floor. Did you see the Earth God (Tee Kong) - wearing yellow clothing? Look closely at attachment: my home5.jpg Perhaps, there are two items missing: two lanterns on each side of the main door and/or a red "Ang Cai" banner above the main door entrance!

Durian Talk A fully grown durian tree located along Yuk Tong Avenue / Jalan Jurong Kechil area Have you ever encountered a durian tree? If someone merely strolls by, they would likely not recognize it as a durian tree. This tree resembles any other roadside or angsana trees. Were you able to spot the durians? They are quite small in comparison, unlike the large Thai durians. Another site where durian trees may be located is at Gerald Drive, which is off Yio Chu Kang Road.

Chinese believe that the gates of hell is opened up during the Lunar 7th Month and ghosts are allowed to wonder on the earth. To ward of bad luck, this is an inauspicious month for marriage, moving house, travelling etc... I took a few pictures of a group of taxi drivers celebrating the Chinese 7th month Hungry Ghost Festival. In 1999, the 7th month started on 11 August and ends on 9th September 1999

This picture shows circular steps radiating outwards to ward of poision arrows or sha. This is similar to the Ming Tang or a circular pool of water outside a building radiating outwards. Similarly, one can cut a piece of carpet to be placed at the Main Entrance door to ward of a poision arrow. Warmest Regards Cecil

Case Study: This home has a very practical and functional window design at their flat/unit with living room windows sharing the common corridor of a HDB flat. The home owners changed the existing sliding windows by "splitting it into two. With the lower half being frosted. Has to anything to do with Feng Shui? Not directly. It has more to do with common sense. For example, if one is more likely to open the windows because of the split windows; this means that the home can be more airy and allow for better ventilation within. As compared to a home owner that always closed all their windows facing the corridor for fear that someone could peep in or for p…

As you have seen earlier in an earlier posting " Popular Chinese Decorative Figurines: Fu Lu Shou Fu - Prosperity Lu - Luck Shou - Longevity There a complex in Singapore, named after the above. It has a `mural' of the three Gods. You can also guess that Fu Lu Shou is one of the most popular Three figurines found in a Chinese home. It comes in different materials: From porcelain material, wood, gold plated, marble, jade and more. Placed in the home for good luck. By the way, the stretch of road along Queens Street, Albert Complex and around Bugis has lots of religious Shops that sell Feng Shui stuffs. If you are around this location, you can also visit the Kuan Im Temple…

Dear Wasis, I bought it locally in Singapore for around approximately US$14/-. Personally, I find the 6-hollow-rod brass wind chime too heavy. And it can only make a sound in very windy conditions. Try to go for the more common 6-hollow-rod alluminum rods with the `wooden' supporting frame and clinger. This type of wind chime(s) makes the most sound. And would be more effective. Warmest Regards, Cecil

There is something special in this HDB estate. For example, it does not costs much to add this to the hard to see lift buttons overlay. Making the difficult to see buttons clearly visible: Looks classy: Functional table with Chinese chess set overlay + easy to wipe stainless steel table-TOP:- Location: Canberra Road flats facing Sembawang MRT station:-
