Adding a slope vs a drop at the edge: This has more to do with preventing a fall; making it both elderly (plus Handicap accessible) and children friendly.

The Atria@ Meyer Nowadays, the guard house in a condo is often done as an after thought. I find the guard house of The Atria @ Meyer both stylish and of timeless beauty. Whenever I pass-by this structure (the guard house); I often, pause to look at it. And it truly looked beautiful which ever side, front, left or right one looks at it...

  12. If one is driving along Upper Paya Lebar Road, one cannot help to notice a crisp and bright building: This building is the Kim Loong Building: Under the Five elements concept: 1. Rectangular shape represents earth element. 2. Yellow also represents earth element. 3. The red stripes represent Fire element. Under the Five elements concept; fire supports earth. And this building is build to take advantage of it's surroundings by applying the Five elements concept by being a "strong" or bigger earth element. Although this Kim Loong building is located at LITTLE ROAD. It is not so little after all if we take into consideration the Five…

With the extended overhang above this 2nd storey stack/unit at block 664A Punggol Drive; One can notice that even at around 3.30pm, the extended overhang roof helps to shade the fa?ade of this unit's room. However, in general, the lower the stack/unit; the greater the range of shade vs afternoon sun hours.

  14. This private development @18A Fort Road(under construction)comprising of a total of 12 storeys is tall and thin. Not because it is now clad in a green dust/protective screen that makes it a wood element; but instead, the characteristics of a wood building is that it is thin and (reasonably tall). Contrast this to the building seen to the right of the photo; The Meyer Residence; which is rectangular in shape and is considered as belonging to the earth element. Thus, this wood element building can take advantage of The Meyer Residence when it comes of age (TOP). P.S. Apologies if the building looks like it is leaning to the right. Blame it on my photo taking instead…

Related: Which units are lucky at Skyville @ Dawson? +++ Even if an architect is only paid to design the interior layout; at least; the architect should try to put themselves "in the shoes of home owner". How true; always that: "We stay there, you don't applies!". Just take a look at this HDB 4 bedroom flat layout in some of the stacks of Skyville @ Dawson. (See attachment). A. THE LIVING ROOM 1. Although the living room width is of a generous or rather "too generous" size; instead; the architect should have should have an allowance at marking in red "A" for a reasonable sized dining table, there. 2. As a result of this no…

  22. 1. Nowadays, many homes especially apartments: HDB/EC/Condos are getting smaller and smaller. 2. Often, many homeowners tend to install shelving units to fit exactly into these bomb shelters. 3. And in many instances; these bomb shelters are filled fully. And what a chore to remove them temporarily; for example if there is a "emergency" exercise. 4. Thus, it makes sense if the "emergency" is only temporary;to have the bomb shelter built-into the exit staircases. 4.1 As the houseowners do not need tospent time and perhaps lots of effort to remove all the items in the bomb shelter and even try todismantle the shelving. 5.Of course, on the trade-off; ifthere is a real e…

  23. This boutique freehold development located in district 15 has interior layouts that are well-thought out. Even if it is a 1 bedder, 2 bedder or 3 bedders; the architect has managed to fully maximize the floor area. If one can see, in this 2 bedder illustration; the entire unit is a rectangular shape with a minor extension at the main entrance area. The rest of this small development's other layouts also share a well thought out design. By the way, the small size of the unit is made-up by huge

This stall must be pretty "old". As one no longer sees such "raised lettering" signages anymore. The signage was very popular in the 1970s to 1980's. Nowadays, such advertisement signages are virtually flat pieces.... Therefore, this stall must have been around for quite some time. Location: In Jurong East Market (next to Parc Oasis) condo.
