A circular fence planter makes this home look like aged. As it was popular ten or twenty years ago. For the sake of modernisation; this home had covered it up.. work still in progress. What this does is there is no longer any colours .. especially if plants flower. Plus equally important is that it allows air to flow into the home from that completely walled up area. This is what it would have looked like. Photo from another home:-

  3. Durian Talk A fully grown durian tree located along Yuk Tong Avenue / Jalan Jurong Kechil area Have you ever encountered a durian tree? If someone merely strolls by, they would likely not recognize it as a durian tree. This tree resembles any other roadside or angsana trees. Were you able to spot the durians? They are quite small in comparison, unlike the large Thai durians. Another site where durian trees may be located is at Gerald Drive, which is off Yio Chu Kang Road.

The Concourse and subtle nuiances of Feng Shui in this building: This figure is titled a "Black Tortoise". In Feng Shui it is one of the four animals: green tortise, white tiger and Black Tortise". The Black tortise simply represents the "back" or rear support. Thus if one looks at this "black mascular person with such a stance and figurine" One would never have imagined that it is for the purpose of Feng Shui... This cartoon like resin rounded figure aptly named Buddha. It also represents a solid mass. Other than that perhaps the owners want to portray a safe and peaceful environment... La Lecture... give a guess... U…

  5. CUSTOM HOUSE, MAXWELL ROAD This was the headquarters of Singapore Customs from 1932 to 1989. Formerly known as the Government Monopolies Department, the Customs collected duties levied on selected imported goods such as opium and liquor. It banned opium after the Second World War due to societal problems caused by the drug. The Custom House also housed the Film Censor’s Office and the Maxwell Road Post Office.

  11. Singapore Map 1954: Showing Tanjong Rhu, former Kallang Airport, former Happy World Park and Geylang A glimpse of old Singapore in 1954. Particularly significant is that Tanjong Rhu / Marina South has not been reclaimed then. In addition, Nicol Highway was non-existent in 1954.

  12. Have you ever explored the historical background of Balestier Road? Novena MRT & Novena Square were previously located on a Jewish cemetery. Alternatively, Balestier Hill Shopping Centre used to occupy a Chinese cemetery. Novena Church was constructed on the site of a former Chinese monastery. Here is a map of Singapore from 1954: - Presently, Kamgpong Chia Heng road has been replaced by Irrawaddy Road, which now connects Balestier Road directly to Thomson Road. Next to the former Thomson Road Police station stands the Thomson Medical Centre. Novena MRT and Novena Square were once located on a Jewish cemetery, while Balestier Hill Shoppi…
