Dear Anon, 1. Appreciate if you can clarify whether you meant 160 degrees to the North (to the right) or 160 degrees to the North - to the left). 2. Usually, a protractor is an addition. We must need to use the magnetic or ordinary compass first to find the exact North-South bearing. And make a confirmation using the East-West. 3. Next, we need to determine the centrepoint of the house. 4. Only then we can use say the protractor to look at the layout plan. 5. Please take a look again at the sample protractor. It has an outer ring: starting from clock wise, we start from 0 degrees, to 90 degrees to 180 degrees to 270 degrees. 6. Once we align the protractor's North-South,…

Perhaps, both of you should sleep separately and in your own favourable directions. Otherwise, position the bed to the direction of the less favourable party's auspicious direction if the bedroom is located favourable to the opposite party. East System favourable direction is N,S,SE,E. West System favourable direction is NE,NW,SW,W. The location of your stove is also an important consideration. The position of your entrance door should not be neglected.

Dear Laraine, Before we address your question, you may have to be aware that there are a few `levels' of Feng Shui analysis:- 1. Very detailed Feng Shui analysis If a person is new to Feng Shui, he or she may need to consult an experienced Feng Shui Practioner to address isues such as what you are facing. Alternatively, if you know how to use the computerised tools here, with some help, I am confident you can overcome your problems. The following are the most crucial Feng Shui Theories:- 1. Eight House Theory. I guess you must have already used this to find your most suitable locations in the house. Overall, this theory does what it is suppose to do, find out how suitabl…

Dear Anon, Yes, imagine standing as the stove. The direction the stove faces is the direction it is facing. Thus if the stove is exactly located at WEST, it is facing EAST. This is in-line with your understanding. Warmest Regards, Cecil

I would like to clarify that the stove is in South sector, not NW sector. I would like to know if I can put the stove in NW direction in South sector. NW direction is my good direction. Any help would be appreciated.

Dear Anon, 1. Drawing a parallel, nowadays, also, this type of Feng Shui is too general to be effective. It is like the notion of North = career sector; SW = romance sector. 2. Although: West is associated with metal; East with wood; there is not much this can tell us. 3. A more accurate interpretation is to apply Flying Star Feng Shui. This is because each sector has three variables: the mountain star; the water star and the base star. 4. For example, the Flying Star analysis is based on the birth chart of each home. Here, one needs to know the year the house was born or had a major renovation. The direction of the house. 4.1 Senario 1: ============== If this (west) sect…

Dear Konrad, 1. In my opinion, how suitable the house is to a person (breadwinner and family members) are but one of the many considerations for selecting a house. 2. This is the main reason why many people; are not able to take full advantage of Feng Shui to help them. But instead, nose dive into a vicious cycle of `hit & run'. 3. Therefore, we often see many of us dwell in micro aspects of Feng Shui. And forget totally about the macro aspects. It is akin to living or pretending to live in a house with four walls and forgetting that there is an external environment. 4. Quantum Leap in Feng Shui In order to achieve a quantum leap in Feng Shui, priority should go inst…

1. Please note that burying a jar of holy water underground is not a traditional Chinese practise. Have we ever wondered what happened after the holy water dried up? 2. The common practises are:- 2.1. Tilting the door to a certain degree OR 2.2. burying a bronze or copper (copper cum bronze) ruler at the main door to deflect the compass bearing especially if the facing direction is at a compass degree that straddles between one compass direction to the next. Commonly known as the zone of "empty - blank - nowhere"

Dear Yoyo, Please see below:- Here, usually, one would have a back (side partition) or back cabinet. If so, this is an acceptable configuration. And, many office cublices or rooms have this type of configuration. - Not to worry too much. Frankly, both are the same. But a clock has utility i.e. looking at time. While a music pendulum, simply makes a repeated sound. Both are ok. But, in my opinion, I am not too sure if the music pendulum is made to last that long (perhaps if it runs on battery?) as compared to a pendulum clock. Frankly, I have not used a music pendulum, so cannot really fully comment on it. Warmest Regards Cecil

Hello Experts.. Would you be kind enough to advise me on the correct directional placement of small Buddha statues. I have a wooden one 6 inches tall in my study and several smaller jade statues around the house. My house faces due north, as does my study. I live in the southern hemisphere. I have been told this affects many aspects of our existence. Is this true? I almost have no money and I am told this will assist in creating wealth if the statues are facing the correct direction. With thanks and thoughts,, Anon

Hi Anon, Please see below:- The priority you should be taking is as follows:- A. The house should be 1st suitable to the breadwinner (your husband). Since both of you are of opposite EIght House, which by the way is a common issue for most people. Likely it is not your death or disaster sector which would be worst. B. Next, you should then focus on choosing a a bedroom that hopefully is suitable for the two of you. However, in most cases, it would be hard to find it as it would likely again be such a case where your husband is good and your is bad. So you can try to choose a bedroom if possible where either of the following:- 1. Good for you and maybe irritation for y…

Dear Megan, The following questions can be asked: 1. Owner of the building For a owner of the buidling; he/she may ask the question: What is the `Feng Shui' of my building like? 2. For the owner of an individual unit or flat or apartment? The question asked is: How good is the Feng Shui of my individual unit. Therefore, usually for a homeowner; he/she is more concerned with Para 2. Therefore the compass reading of the main entrance door should be based on his apartment's main entrance door. And he/she should apply e.g. Shapes and Forms to analyse the building. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Susan, If you have a sketch, it would be easier to visualise the situation. Overall, since all bedrooms often have a window(s) and a bedroom door, there is a limitation to where it can be placed. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, If one uses the Chinese compass or Luopan to analyse a direction, here, there is the sitting and facing direction. What this means is that on the compass or Luopan, e.g. the compass direction facing the main entrance door is the facing direction while the sitting direction refers to the opposite direction. Thus it is like looking at e.g. O degrees and 180 degrees on the compass or luopan where 0 degrees is the facing direction while 180 degrees refers to the sitting position. It is normally used in conjunction with the Chinese luopan. On this site, since many users do not have a luopan, we have adopted the `regular' or ordinary compass method. You can check out…

Dear Angelina, 1. If one is using either of the Compass School Feng Shui i.e. Eight House Theory or Flying Star; one has to rememeber that for most cases (unless it is e.g. an `L' shaped design etc...) We should take compass reading only " once " i.e. from the centrepoint of the home and measure this to the direction of the main entrance door. 2. With the above information, we should have a copy of the layout plan and mark the North to South / East to West. A protractor helps here. 3. After the above is done; one should then find out that the bedroom is located e.g. in the " East " etc... One do not need to take compass readings from the centrepoint of each room. For maj…

Dear Ajay, 1. What you mentioned is a simplistic view of Feng Shui. 2. Unfortunately, this type of Feng Shui is can best be described as `Kindergarten Feng Shui'. 3.These statements are too generalised. As it seems to be a model mass produced for the entire world. 4. For example, there is no basis to say that all NE directions is the knowlege area for all people, all over the world. A similiar example is that some Feng Shui practitioners highlight that South-West is our romance sector. This is not possible for everyone in the entire world. Please see below:- The more appropriate way to look at the issue is:- 1. The sector evaluated under Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. If o…

Dear Caroline, Perhaps, you can draw a sketch as I may not correctly get what you mean. Do you mean that when you walk thru the main entrance, you see the closet? How is the closet. Do one turn and walk in to the living room. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, It is of course nice to have everything perfect. However, in reality, this isn't always possible. There will bound to be some imperfections in pre designed homesunless you are rich enough to construct your own perfect home. Anonymous wrote: i am moving into a very nice house in a nice neighborhood with nice people, but my bedroom is in my disaster position. i cannot move my bedroom, so what steps can i take to make my bedroom not so bad? In Feng Shui, you should always remember, that there are many different concepts each has a specific purpose. In your case, say the suitability of the room isn't ideal.Make sure that at least say the house is suitable to y…

Dear Jason, Please read below:- Yes, it does help. It is in fact the best alternative to improving your office if you are unable to relocate your sitting position. Fire would be more recommended, any pointed object or red colour will do just fine. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Sophia, In my opinion, what you had mentioned has more to do with perception / symbolic gesture of "dignity" accorded to the statues be it alive or "dead". Where possible, often, it is placed in the living room facing the seat/sofa. Thus, it is best to place the figurines on a proper display area e.g. on the shelf or display table etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil
