These are some considerations:- 1. Usually you need to laise with two parties:- 1.1 the government body or those in-charge of exhumation 1.2 They will get in touch with the grave digger(s). In fact, grave diggers are more worried about getting the correct protocol done! As they feel that they are equally affected if they do the wrong thing! 1.3 For example, whenever those in the know; would place a canvas sheet above the grave before digging it. 1.4 Usually, a representative of the family would be present: to later give a hong bao (red packet). 1.5 If possible avoid bringing youngsters to the site. Youngsters upto 12 years old should avoid being present. Never accep…

Dear Hoa Luong, Generally, at Geomancy.net, we focus on fixing the entire 20-year sector problems which usually affects the entire period. The yearly star changes each year, so if you can fine tune the cures and fixes for each year you can obtain the best overall cures or enhancement for your home. Note here that there are many people who worry that after 2004 their house will change to a period 8 house. This is wrong. Flying Star focuses on the Birth chart of the house just like Ba Zi focus on the Birth chart of a person. So for all those staying in a period 7 house (1984-2003), so long as you do not make any major renovation changes to the structure of the house, it wil…

Dear Anon, 1. No usually, the garage should be left out as it is not a `living' space. 2. If the house has separate owners, it is best that it can be differentiated. And readings can be taken for each apartment. For the shape of the house, one can treat it as a whole apartment when doing the Shapes and Form analysis. One can thus do an environmental scanning for the landscape, the site and the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Here, there are several view-points: 1. Some Feng Shui practioners will `insist' that one should use an immovable object rather than a picture. 2. Some Feng Shui practioners will advise you that one can hang pictures but watch what you hang. Under para 2, the advise is to hang a picture of a mountain scene. Excellent examples are: a picture of Mount Fuji in Japan or the Himalayas. Scenes such as this. Where best, avoid pictures of water scenes such as fountain, fishes swimming. Other alternatives are calligraphy works or pictures of Chinese paintings with a backdrop of a mountain / village scene are acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hello. large turtle aquarium for 120 liters, with a large turtle. The room is 20 sq.m., there is nowhere else to put only to the northwest (on a large wooden table.?), because of this will be a problem with the money? Does it have to be to the north? To the east of the toilet, to the southeast of the kitchen. On the north is the closet. Thank you in advance !

Dear Anon, Please note the following: 1. Usually keeping a crystal would not cause a nightmare. If one is talking about more than one crystals, it would depend. One way of checking this is to use the Flying Star Report and analyse that particular sector for any over influence or imbalance of the earth element. Many FS practioners consider `crystal' as originating from the earth and we have in an earlier message covered that the earth element is associated with number 2 (sickness star) and 5 (misfortune star). Here, the theory is that too much of the earth element would cause an imbalance at the sector. It is thus not so much of nightmares but rather i.e. if Star 2 and 5…

Dear Sirs, thank You for providing helpful and original Feng Shui information. I am just learning myself that the westernized approach is very different from the original, so I do what I can to leave that behind and learn correct Feng Shui with all the kind help. So far I have learned that I have kua 9, where South (Fire), North (Water), East (Big Wood), Southeast (Small Wood) are my "strong"/favorable directions, and then when I look up my Ba Zi element report (unfortunately I am unsure of birth time, but I think all day is weak metal?) I read the same elements weaken my metal balance - and how can water make strong and weak at the same time? I have many philosophical qu…

Hi master, I'm looking at an apartment with street number 106/38 (unit 106, on 38 _____ street). However, in the strata report, it is named "lot 141." This number is only visible on the storage cage and in strata considerations. Do I need to consider this number at all? Kindest regards and many thanks in advance.

Dear Ang Chye, Traditionally, when a child was born, the parents or grandparent would consult a Geomancer to find a name for the child. The first thing the Geomancer does is to look at the child's Ba Zhi (Pillars of Destiny). For example, my grandfather was told that my elder brother lacked `water' element in his Ba Zhi. His name has one character `water' i.e. " Chwee " added to his name. As for me, since I did not lack any elements, my name had a " Tiong " or " centre " (implying balance) in one of the characters. For example, a fictitious name could be: Tan Leng Chwee (where: Tan is the surname, Leng Chwee is the last name). The " Chwee " was added to such a name. This …

Dear Anon, Before I reply to your question, I like to highlight that the Ba Gua mirror is used for two main purposes: 1. Some use it to ward off evil. 2. Some use it to deflect/absorb Sha Qi or poision arrow. After `understanding' above, you can than know why some FS practioners would prefer the Ba Gua mirror to be `blessed'. Usually, those who ask their clients ot place a Ba Gua mirror to "ward off evil". Why do some FS practioners ask thier clients to place a Ba Gua mirror to ward off evil? There are two main reasons: 1. Majority of these practioners have a religion e.g. Taoism and believe that all homes must have a Ba Gua mirror above their doors to `ward off evil'. T…

Dear Kaushal, 1. Salt is commonly used more in western countries or `western' practitioners (not necessary FS practitioners). 2. You can certainly try using salt although it is not `proven' or used widely in Traditional Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In most instances, changing the floor tiles is considered changing the "date of birth of the house:- 1. If your house is under " Period 7, from 1984 to 2003 ", you do not need to worry as there is no change of birth date. 2. Under the Flying Star Theory, one way of assessing is to refer to the chart for the earlier period and the new period. For example, if your house is built in Period 6 and recently, you had done a major renovation, it is still prudent to look at the flying chart for both periods. Most cases, it will take on the new period especially after a major renovation. However, in some instances, the house still continues to take on the earlier period'…

Dear Hoa, In my opinion, what you had described; on it's own may not be considered as a change of the house period. Imagine this: it is akin to a person, changing his/her skin and yet the mouth e.g. (main entrance doors) remains untouched. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Hoa Luong wrote: Not just the glass, but all the frames were replaced also. Basically, I got all new windows including frames and glass (all 14 of them). Does this change the house period?

Dear Anon, The size of the diameter circle can be between 2.2 cm to 2.8 cm. For the star, can be slightly larger, from tip to tip at around 3 cm. Need not be larger than the above per `foil'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Thanks for this interesting question: 1. I remembered reading quite sometime back one of Evelyn Lip's book on Geomancy (Feng Shui). (By the way, for those who are not aware, Evelyn Lip is an English author of several Feng Shui and Chinese cultural books. She is a trained architect and has a PHD. Her books are considered academically correct and is useful for those who do research for their school projects.) In the above book, she mentioned that when she was a young architect, she had a `culture shock' when she was asked to design a house. After the architectural plan was submitted to the house owner; she was asked to alter the design for the owner. During this…

Dear Anon, One has to do a full Feng Shui audit in order to look at e.g. the attic or basement etc.. from many angles such as Shapes and Form, Flying Star analysis etc... Therefore, I prefer not to `generalise' and make everyone follow a set principle. Each house differs and one should gather a total picture to make a final analsis. I hope you can understand my concern and reason for not stereo typing every situations as they can lead to a `misunderstanding'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecil , I'm first time using onelist service. I happens to see your web site over the internet. Currently I'm rather interested into Feng Shui. and has been reading books about it. I have some queries here for your advise.. If the family members comprises of both West & East group (understand that direction that are good for West group will be very bad to East group), does that mean that the family will always be in conflict ? And how do you orient the house furniture and fixtures if they have to stay together? Thanks & Warmest Regards, Chris ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Dear Chee Kiat, Please see below:- No, under Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui, unless one is going for `battle' or in an era, where, it is used for self defense, one should not place the steel sword. This is because, objects such as this if displayed is considered `sha qi' or bad qi. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Sorry can you further elaborate on what you are asking as I not too sure what you are trying to say. 2. If a bedroom is `odd shaped' one can use built in cabinets to create a `room' that is of a `better' shape e.g. a rectangular shaped room instead. An odd shaped room is no good for a couple's marriage. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Yes, it is good feng shui to have the kitchen share an external wall. 2. It can be the wash basin. 3. `Rooms' that do not share an external wall would imply that they are somewhere in the interior of the house (not necessary centrepoint) but somewhere in the `interior'. This applies to other `four walled' rooms such as a bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Is the concept of Feng Shui applicable to rental properties? Dear Cecil, This house that I'm very interested in buying as a rental property, is in a great location and the price is right. What has been keeping me from making an offer is that this house faces North which is my "Disaster" direction. I'm also a Strong Water. I would never buy a North facing house to live in, but will I get BAD luck if I buy it to rent out to other people? Thank you! Hoa

Dear Anon, Essentially, the wealth element does not change for a weak or strong element person. What happens is that if on is a strong element person, he/she can then be able to take advantage of the situation. One way of defining wealth under the Five elements concept is that under the Destructive cycle where Fire destroys Metal, if one is a strong Fire, then one is able to destroy Metal to create `wealth'. If one's element is weak e.g. weak fire, it is harder to create wealth unless the element of fire is strengthened in order to `destroy' the Metal element to produce `wealth'. The above is the method under the Five elements to explain how one creates wealth. If one can…

Dear Jen, 1. I can quite imagine that your front door and frame is indeed contrasting. 2. From a cultural point of view, Chinese do not like contrasting colours. Especially if the contrasting colour takes on to them an inauspicious `statement': 2.1 In the west white is associated purity e.g. a white wedding grown. 2.2 Under the Five Elements, Metal (white) is also associated with purity. And if we look at a Chinese Luopan closely, it looks similar to your main door but in reverse: The outer square of the Chinese Luo pan is painted red. This outer square represents the earth. If we look carefully at the inner circle plate: (circle represents metal) And this plate is rep…
