Dear Alberto, To find out more about the North South Debate, please click on this link: http://www3dglobe.com/fs/addsites.htm#SOUTH Currently, no one has shown proof of the validity of the South Hemisphere model. Feng Shui can equally be applied both in the North and South. Dear Dr Muthu, I hope you understand that it is very difficult for me to comment on this as one really needs to be physically present in order to make a sound comment. There are many issues with regards to water positions such as how the inlet drain flows through to the outlet. E.g. does it flow in a straight line, at an angle or even whether it meanders inwards or outwards. How fast is the movement of water. What is the degree of inclination, `slicing' movement inwards or outwards etc. Especially if there are two water courses running one on the East and West. I do not want to comment on Lillian Too's assessment without consideration on some of the factors as mentioned a…

Dear Carolyn, Since there is a MS#5 (bad earth - loss, misfortune, sickness) but it is further inflamed or fuelled by #9 (fire), this is an inauspicious combination. Fortunately, there is a #6 controlling it. Thus, it is in control. Given this situation, there is no harm with a water feature, here since, it can help to extinguish #9. Thus, letting the #6 strong metal - controlling #5. Therefore, there is no issue with a fish tank, here. Warmest Regards, Cecil I have I checked the flying star On 12/31/2003 7:49:53 PM, Cecil

    1. Many of us are totally focused only on just our Kua or Gua (Eight House) Feng Shui. 2. But more importantly, the House "Gua" or Kua is more important factor. House Gua often is based both on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui and Flying Star Feng Shui. 3. For personal Gua or Kua, do take note that between facing a good direction and spending time at a good sector, "spending time" prevails over facing a good direction. Although facing a good direction is "Nice-to-have" and not a must-have factor. 4. Lets go back to the start... if we can reverse time: "Finding a good home": Here, the "house gua" or simply Flying Star is used to look at the birth chart of the home. 5. And th…

Thanks for your sketch. As mentioned, previously; this has more to do with common sense then Feng Shui. For example; if there is a fire at the stove area; and since it is sharing the same wall as the "exit' stairs; don't want to have a flash fire at that location nor smoke coming out of that area...

How bad, really depends on how much far the 3 plants placed and how it looks from …

  8. Further to what I had mentioned; if from a window of one's unit /apartment; can see another building near-by that resembles some kind of a "peeping tom"; than this may be considered inauspicious to one's unit.

  9. Hi, Please read below:- Under the shapes and forms theory, if you cannot see it is not a problem. So under this theory, I personally feel that you do not really need to worry. However, for safety reasons, I think that you should still make sure it is safe enough to go into the basement without any mishap. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Hi, Currently there are four methods of dealing with a T junction (not in any order of importance):- 1. Change the angle of the door to face one of your best directions i.e. tilt the door to one that faces one of your good directions. This is said to `kill' two birds with one stone. 2. If your main entrance door is elevated, you can have semi-circular steps leading to the house. This is one technique of `radiating' sha ch' away from your main entrance. 3. Alternatively, if your main entrance is level to your external of the house, you could consider a specially made semi-circular carpet e.g. of half of a sun with it's fiery sunlight (spikes) radiating away from the mai…

  12. Dear Nini, I agree with Deborah on this. One important concept in Feng Shui is " If it no longer can be seen (the threat) it no longer becomes a threat. Therefore, one of the easiest thing to do, e.g. a threat looking into a window is to use curtains or blinds. Blinds are a better alternative in such a situation since, one can manipulate it to filter as much light into the room (if possible). Warmest Regards, Cecil

There are many resources and postings on the forum that most of the answers can be found if you just do an advanced search for Castle Gate Theory:- URL: http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=9813 Basically, it is tilting a building (ideally) 45 degrees to the road or if this may not be possible; then, tilting the main door directions 45 degrees instead. As the word `Castle' suggests; it has also has water. Therefore in order for it work, water (not still water) is used here. Dear Liang, Under the Shapes and Form Feng Shui, it is preferred not to have an air well in the middle of the house. However, from the illustration, you had provided, it looks like the air well is at one side of house. It is advisable not to place a water feature especially close to the centrepoint of the house as this is `bad Feng Shui'. This is because water (under I-ching implies difficulty) and a water position there would not be ideal. It would equally not be good to plant a lone tree there as this is equally bad Feng Shui. In your case, try to leave a clear space i.e. you can if you want to have small pots of plants within the air well. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, Frankly so far, I don't think there is anything written in the past (nor the present) on the use of water beds and metal beds. As I mentioned in a few forum messages that the original use of Feng Shui caters more towards Feng Shui Masters locating a site for a city e.g. Canton or many other Chinese Cities. Following this, their concern is with a site within a city and perhaps an overall location of a village. The closes to the bed is the use of the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui and the use of Compass School techniques such as the Eight House and the Flying Star. What does all this mean? Feng Shui is all about trying to enhance beneifical qi or to neutralise Sha …

  17. Dear Guest, Please see below:- This depends more of what is facing the house. (Are there any threats such as a neighbour's sharp pointed roof) etc.. In my opinion, therefore, this may or may not pose a problem. It does not pose a problem if there are no threats to the main door. Often, many homes have drainage at the front of the home. But hmm.. 6 metre wide is pretty large drainage. Under `commonsense' approach to Feng Shui, if there is such a huge drain, it looks more like a canal. In the past, this is inauspicious - especially if the connecting `bridge' to our home is made of planks -- which if not well maintained can pose a safety hazard (it may collapse). I…

Hi, This is different from having a roof over a landed property. Here, if you are using e.g. blue tiles, the impact is on your house. But if you are living in a Hi-rise building, with a miniature fountain, this will not impact on your apartment. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, Please read below:- If it is due to natural causes e.g. old age, this is acceptable. Overall, this is not Feng Shui but based on `rituals' or practises. If one is a Christian, some would invite the Priest to the house and offer some chants; for Catholics i.e. sprinkle " holy water ". If you are doing it yourself, you can mix unpolished rice grains with salt and throw them around the house especially the corners. As I mentioned, this is not Feng Shui. Salt is often used in such occassions. In Chinese studies, usually, well water is not well regarded as it is said that it harbours a well spirit. I can understand why because one must be careful especially if…

  20. Dear Anon, The semi-circular doormat should not be utilized in all areas of a residence. The most suitable place for the semi-circular doormat is at the entrance of a bedroom, for instance, positioned in front of the staircase. Apart from this, it is recommended to place it outside the house, even though it serves as a mild form of Feng Shui defensive tool. For instance, when ascending the staircase, the bedroom door is directly visible. In this scenario, the semi-circular doormat could be appropriately placed here to counteract the sha qi emanating from the staircase. Thus far, this is the only location or circumstance that I can identify as acceptable for…

Thank you for your prompt reply. To further clarify on the same subject, there are eight kua according to the Eight House Theory. I agree that thefacing directionwhere the Qi enter the house is of utmost important. But before that we have to determine the kua of the house before we can apply the Eight House Theory. So, a house that sits on East (using the loupan to determine), it is the "chen" kua and thus we can apply, based on the Eight House Theory, the favourable and unfavourable directions based on the "chen" kua. Do you agree?
