These are some considerations: 1. Symbolism. 1.1. The rationale why LAUGHING buddhas are very popular is the "SMILE" on it's face. 1.2. The idea here is that when we see "someone smiling" it is suppose to makeus feel"happy". 1.3. Thus, it also indirectly may affect someone's psychology in some way: This is why many Chinese place the laughing buddha looking towards the entrance of the home. 2. Even for many Chinese, the laughing buddha should not be taken seriously. Therefore, it does not have any association with religion nor considered a religious artifact. 2.1. Therefore, even for many Chinese; they consider it close to a "decorative" item. 3. After understanding the ab…

Dear Linda, Actually, you can use the many free calculators located at http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate the correct charts. As to the Chinese zodiac signs, because usually January or February or even as late as March, this is where the new year of the lunar calendar stars. For exampel in 1997:- 19 Feb 1996 to 6 Feb 1997 = fire rat and those born 7 Feb 1997 to 27 Jan 1998 = fire ox Reference: http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/ayear/a90-2010.htm This can change the Ba zi element and strength for anyone born between 1 January 1997 to 6 February 1997 if they had wrongly being considered as a fire ox instead of a fire rat. Therefore, why not use the free ca…

More family bonding... bring them out for a simple outing... 2. Spent more time with family... 3. When you have the time.. talk more often with your family members... Dear Chandra, A hallway does not create Sha Qi (negative Qi). However, because of its shape, Qi cannot properly circulate. The most common remedy by many Feng Shui practititioners (provided the hallway is not too narrow) is to place plants spaced out along the hallway to `slow' down the Qi. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, It depends on the distance between your main entrance vs your neighbour's (partial) wall. Often, 3 metres distance away is acceptable. Usually, it is best not to be too close because sometimes, the corner of the wall is like a poison arrow aimed towards your main entrance door. And secondly, it is often not too good because qi (air) flow is not smooth. What could be worse are the new generation Punggol flats. Some of these are corner units and the corridor wall is aimed directly into the homes. Depending on the situation, sometimes, potted plants can soften this effect. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Sleeping position - head on southeast, leg at northwest. Other than shifting to a suitable house, what is the most effective way to enhance it? Feng Shui is a holistic approach. And since you are an occupier or treated as a tenant even in your parents home; there is very limited scope of enhancement given that yours is a tiny room. I believe, you did mentioned to me that your parents are against having a Feng Shui audit. And in the sample attachment, Micro Feng Shui is about mapping out the entire layou…

Dear Sudha, Please see below:- Glad that you found the information useful:) The most important points to consider when using the Eight House is: 1. How suitable is the house to the breadwinner. As you have mentioned you can take into consideration your elder sister as the breadwinner. Preferably, the death or disaster intangible forces do not flow thru the main door for her. In this case, it is considered that the house is not suitable for her. 2. For yourself, it is less of a concern other than to check which locations you spent most of the time at. For example, where best, the inauspicious intangible lines do not flow thru your bedroom. Check out for the rest o…

Dear Yang Ming, 1. Usually, in a small island like Singapore, you're surrounded by the sea on every side. 2. Depending on where you are, the way the sun heats the land (which gets hotter) compared to the sea, along with changes in high and low pressure, can cause air to move from the land to the sea and the other way around. 3. As a result, air can come in from either side of the house. 4. However, if a bunch of windows or the main door is shut, air can't flow in from one side of the window to the other. 5. If air is only coming in from one part of the house, especially in a new build, it might mean that air is being pulled in from the building's …

Dear Marisol, Indeed, when performing Flying Star calculations, it is advisable to utilize the expansive terrace that offers a pleasant view as the front of the residence. This is because Flying Star Feng Shui is primarily concerned with the movement of qi into the home. Furthermore, this orientation appears to possess yang qi. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Marisol Colon wrote: I have a huge terrace that overlooks a huge amount of mountains and I can see the sea from 3 directions. I was wondering if I would use this as my front door?

Dear Edward, To confirm, if your birthdate is between 27 Jan 1952 to 13 Feb 1953, yes you are considered an East person. As 210 degrees is between 202.5 degrees to 247.4 degrees, this is considered the South West Sector. (Under this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm at Step 6: Determine the direction of the main entrance door, you can make use of the table to determine the range also). Unfortunately, South West has the `disaster' intangible force for an East person. Dear Jim, There are two ways at looking at having a fish tank: 1. For enjoyment. 2. `Reading' from somewhere and buying a fish tank and hoping for something auspicious to happen. Jokingly, I remembered seeing the title of a book " What they don't teach you in Harvard Here it is the same thing with fish tank. " You may end up with more than one can bargain for with fish tanks ". Is it better off not knowing FS? Usually, when one purchase a fish tank, we normally would have visualised a location in our home to place the fish tank. In most instances, it is usually at one side of the wall and not the centre of the house. In fact, intution plays an important part especial…

Dear Regina, Yes, lighting is a better alternative especially if one is in the room - turn it on. But, if no one is in the room, I strongly feel that it is not necessary to leave it on 24 hours. If no one is in the room try not to draw the night curtain, but let natural light filter into the room, will do. Warmest Regards, Cecil

These are several considerations: 1. Compass versus Flying Stars 1.1. It should actually be stated as: Compass School of Feng Shui: Eight House (4 Good/Bad) plus Flying Stars. 1.2. The Three-Step Approach You mentioned: My situation involves my bathroom and toilet being located in the North-West, which corresponds to the Health location according to your reports (8 House Chart). However, my son is associated with Death from this location. 1.2.1. One must possess a proper understanding of the 8 House concept. 1.2.2. Here, I regret to say, you are overlooking the main point. 1.2.3. The essence of the matter is that if an individual does not s…

Dear Anon, Usually, when the year the house was built is in question, we normally use two different period house which we suspect the house to be built and then do a comparison to see which is more likely to be thechart that is present in your home. If you can tell for sure when you had any major renovation done, then you can be pretty sure which chart influence is still present for your home. Period 6 (1964-1983) while Period 7 (1984-2003). Now we are in Period 8 (2004-2023). Generally, if you had any major renovation done in period 7, then it is very likely that your house belong to the period 7, else it will still remain as a period 6 chart. So unless there was a m…

Dear Pam, Frankly, I would have to say, it depends! For a N3, P7 home, do check where are the activity rooms e.g. living or family rooms. If they are located at the back of this home, then, it is ok to keep to P7. However, the current P7 home has inauspicious #2 and #3 with #7 at the centrepoint of the home, thus is reflective of loss of wealth and sickness within the home. One may have to either consider changing to P8 or look at changing the main door direction to a N1 home (depending on the situation). Like I mentioned, more investigations should be made, first. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Tristan, 1. In some divorce cases, it is advisable to check that Qi does not flow from the main entrance door and exit directly through the windows. In my opinion, there are higher rates of divorce under Para 1 (especially landed properties). 2. In your case, it is difficult to provide further comments as each house is different and as FS is a holistic method, it involves looking at your Pillars of Destiny, your home birth chart (Flying Star) etc... Thus I am unable to comment further than the above. 3. However, other than Shapes and Form Feng Shui, each house can be different for different owners i.e. it may not be suitable for the earlier couple but could be suit…

Dear Hoa Luong, Please note that Chinese Astrology books usually provide you the element based on Year of birth. For example, if a child is due or born on or after 12 February 2002; i.e. if the child is born on 13 March 2002; then he/she is considered as born under the Year of the FIRE Horse. Pillars of Destiny not only consider just the YEAR of birth. A simple Pillars of Destiny chart also consider a person's MONTH, DAY & TIME of Birth. Here, for example, the month could be water element; Day - wood element etc... and If one understands carefully each `pillar' i.e. Year, Month, Day and Time of birth has what is known as heavenly stem and earthly branch. And as …

Dear James, The developer incorporated certain elements of Feng Shui. Specifically, when one gazes into the swimming pool, the outline of an ancient Chinese i-ching coin can be observed, characterized by the square hole typical of Chinese coins, complemented by the blue tiles within the pool. Some time ago, I visited Block 52 (units facing marking K) Source: http://www.themadeira.com.sg/main_siteplan.html. ** **Note: The link mentioned in RED is no longer available today. I found this particular facing unappealing due to the unfavorable Flying star numbers, as well as the view of what appears to be a distant "tomb" (Stadium). Similar to other cond…
