  1. Started by enzo,

Dear Barbara, A cemetry is considered a `Yin' environment. What you can do is to create a Yang environment. Yes, you should plut a Pakua mirror above your patio. Another way to counteract this is to paint the side of your wall `bright colours' such as Pink. This is to create a Yang environment. Can you let me know which direction of this side of the house before I recommend the colour for the door? Yes, you can also use curtains. Make sure that they are bright coloured. Again, I need the information on the direction inorder to recommend u the appropriate colour for the curtains. It is not good to plant large bushes as it would harbour `spirits' especially large trees. Wha…

  2. Started by Bless,

Dear Bless, In general, plants can be divided into two categories:- 1. Plants that are considered `yang' e.g. the characteristic is that their leaves are `pointed' shape or have thorns eg. cactus and chrysanthenum. 2. Plants that are `yin' eg. leaves that are rounded. In a recent US NASA study on the effects of plants (natural plants) on the environment, it was found that plants (infact most plants but they ranked the plants) are found to be good to be placed indoors and good on the internal environment. It is also considered particularly good if the pot is made of clay. The caution under feng shui is to avoid having too many plants concentrated particularly at the West s…

Dear Glyn, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Tuesday, February 23, 1999 7:30 AM Subject: Devil's Gate There is an interesting short article I wrote on the Devil's main gate at: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/gate.htm It is not necessary as you have a large house and the trees are `proportionate' to the house. You can also check the type of leaves. Where best the trees at this area should preferably have `pointed' leaves rather than rounded leaves. I am more concerned with too many plants at the West or South West location as these are primarily YIN locations and too many pl…

  4. Started by Karen,

Dear Karen, Question: have a set of antique furniture which was given by my mum. I measured the furniture and it fits the good measures of the Feng Shui Ruler. Is this good? Yes most Chinese antique furnitures do have a set of measurements that follows the Feng Shui ruler. In the past, there are highly skilled Feng Shui `practioners' who specialise in carpentry work. As the furniture was given by your mum (to confirm: from her home?) if so, it is OK. For other antique furniture that you want to purchase, where possible check it's origin. This is because it is said that furnitures do absorb the ch'i from its surroundings and for example when we purchase a home, a FS Ma…

  5. Dear Glyn Apologise for " scaring you " on the topic of Devil's gate. The point to note here is that:- From what I understand, your house is large by comparison. But the main important consideration is that the trees `orderly' planted and it should be well kept and and the space surrounding it tidy. This would be OK. For the West, you can still continue to place the windchime as this is your very auspcious location. But try to avoid at SW. 6. Dear Jez, Please read below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Thursday, February 25, 1999 5:39 AM Subject: Double 7 on the North Is this a period 7 house? If it is, it is an excellent sector. If it falls under the main door it will bring prosperity for the entire house. In the bedroom, does that direction has a windows? If it does, you can put a fan near the window, to blow in the wind, activating the prosperity for the room. Otherwise, the other method is to user a fountain. But as it is the bedroom it is not advisable:) Hope that helps you:) Warmest Regards Robert Lee

  7. Dear Glyn, Thanks very much. Robert and myself do appreciate it. Your words of encouragments will further encourage us to work harder especially on the course. Just to let you know on the progress of the course, I am currently busy reviewing the syllabus and content of the various courses under www.geomancy-u.com We will have modules or building blocks where there is a specific purpose in learning and applying what we have learnt. An essential part of the foundation course is to impart to all students knowledge of what is and what is not Feng Shui (e.g. superstitious beliefs). We will try to make the courses as affordable as possible and useful to everyone. At the same ti…

  8. Dear Jackie, Thanks for taking the time to share with us your Feng Shui encounter. I am very glad that you have benefited from information on this website In the Far East, (as I am more familiar with this area) Feng Shui Masters normally perform Feng Shui audits only. If a house is found to need certain `fixes', he/she would then recommend the householder on what to purchase. The reason for this is obvious, so that there is no conflict of interests (in him/her wanting to do a Feng Shui audit and selling you Feng Shui materials. So far, like you, personally I have reservations about this type of Feng Shui audit. But I am aware, this is widely practised in the West so not s…

  9. Started by julie,

Dear Julie, It is not auspicious to move the main entrance door to the Kitchen area as this is another Feng Shui `taboo'. In Traditional Feng Shui practise, your main entrance door should not open to a kitchen, In addition to this, it is your disaster line. I have offered a few suggestions othe than to keep the place bright and close the door. You may like to review this url: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/bbs-oneall.htm These are some other alternatives offered in the above link:- 1. Mild forms that will not affect a close-by neighbour includes:- a. tilting the front door from an inauspicious to an auspicious direction. b. using a specially made semi-circle carpet outside th…

Dear Jackie, To be frank, based on the current information given by you on the Eight House + Eight Associations it is difficult to comment at this stage what has really `happened'. As it may or may not be true of the problem i.e. career sector lies in your `death' intangible force. 12. Dear Bryan, For TV's and other electrical items, currently there are three views on this:- 1. Electricity is considered a water element because of its " fluid " nature for example we can visualise them like " watercourses " i.e. the flow of electricity through the wires. 2. It can be used to `block' or `neutralise' bad ch'i because it has magnetic properties. For example when we hold a compass to a wire, the compass needle is attracted to the wire. 3. One practioner said that para 2 is all nonsense! She concluded that when Feng Shui was `born' there was no electricity. So she reasoned that this is not true. My own belief is that I would like to believe in Para 1 and 2. Pa…

  13. Dear Debbie, In general or wider sense, there is little on the topic of how we can make use of Feng Shui to sell a house. However, under the Feng Shui/Chinese Astrology, a Geomancer can find a `good' date for a person to `sell' the house. Let me elaborate:- This is through the use of the 5 elements concept under the Pillars of Destiny. For example, if you are a person whose main element is " Weak Water ". Each particular day and even time, is governed by an element. Not to complicate matters, its assume that today is governed by the ` Water element ". Since today's element is Water, Water will improve your Weak Water and this is considered your favourable day. More compli…

Dear Davis, Pillars lacks of the environmental influences which Flying Star is able analyse given the various directions of the house. Flying Star however, lacks the personalisation of a person's details, which is why there is still a need to combine the report with Eight House and even Pillars to find out the most suitable cures. Pillars of Destiny is to find out a person's destiny. Let me share with all of you a little about this Pillars of Destiny. When it was first developed or discovered. The original intention was that everyone was born with a particular fate. And this Pillars report is to analyse what a person's fate is. Which means if you notice, it is actually n…

  15. Dear Jez, It is difficult to deduce that your luck has changed because you are away from home and staying at your friends place that may have resulted in `losing' some money. This is because there are a few Feng Shui or Feng Shui related tools that need to be `analysed' in relation to yourself. This can be quite complex as it may involve:- 1. On certain days, our `luck' changes based on your personal main element and its strength (Pillars of Destiny) 2. Your friend's house ch'i influence on you. 3. Other factors e.g. Casion's payout rate in relation to winnings (is usually weighed against the player) In addition to the above, there can be more variables that can add to th…

  16. Dear Lucas, In your case, for analysing your home using Feng Shui, you still have to consider your main door as facing North even if you do not open your main door most of the time. The fact that you have to enter and leave the house through this door remains `valid'. (Even if ch'i frequently comes in from the balcony or any of your rooms depending on the prevailing hot/cold air pressures). As your balcony is at the South, do also `ensure' that when you open your main door, avoid ch'i flowing direct out from the main door to the `south' balcony (if you have not considered this already). In traditional Feng Shui, it is utmost important to determine the `centre' of the hous…

  17. Dear Jody, Ideally your roof should first be proportionate (both front and back) rather then slope one side. Especially if there is `water' closeby in Front, this is symbolic of water (wealth) flowing away from your house into the water. ^ / \ The symbol of a `normal' roof, if you look at the side profile looks lik an UP arrow | | which signifies moving upwards in career, wealth etc... Frankly, nothing much can be done to enhance a flat room. Although some have added a covered chimney in the shape of a roof with a `roof ' to represent the " UP arrow " as shown above. With the front door in a straight line with the backdoor, the best solution is to place a decorative…

  18. Dear Lin Hong, Please see below:- Purple `belongs' to the Fire element or South. The range of colours at the South range from Pink to Red and all shades of Purple. I have prepared a colour chart for your benefit:- It is more accurate to apply colours based on your Pillars of Destiny main element and its strength:- Your Element and its Suggested Avoid or strength Bedroom colour Bad for U ============ =============== ======== Strong Wood White | Blue Strong Fire Light blue, grey | Green Strong Earth Light Green | Red Strong Metal Pink, Light Purple| Yellow Strong Water Yellow, brown | White *Note: Do Not use Bright colours but light shad…

Dear James, Thanks for providing a description of your home. Overall, if I get what you wrote correctly, the water is on the `East' side (front) of your home. Are there any windows on this side of the house facing the pool? If you are applying the 5 elements concept, it would not be the most important principle relating to this situation. The Four Symbolic Animal theory http://www.geomancy.net/fs/four.htm take precedence over this theory. What you have is something like a pool of water which is equivalent of the `Bird' or Red Phoenix of the Four Symbolic Animal Theory where, this is good because normally when there is water on the ground, the `view is unhindered'. I…

  20. Started by Bless,

Dear Bless, For a mirror in the bedroom, the most favourable place is on your dressing table provided the dressing table is not facing your bed. It can be from the level of the dressing table and it should not `cut-off' part of your head. Therefore, the mirror need NOT be of full height from " tip to toe ". The mirror should also not face the toilet door, such that when you come out of the toilet and see can the mirror. Mirror must also not be placed above the headrest of your bed set. You can place the mirror below a window again, it is best to place the mirror on your dressing table (which does not face your bed). Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee -----Original Message----- Fr…

  21. Started by Bethsia@aol.com,

Dear Beth, I have already replied you with my analysis and other comments in an email. Briefly, the layout has three major flaws: (two with known cures the third - pseudo cure.. only) 1. staircase to upper floor can be seen directly from the main entrance door. As the distance is too close to the stairs, it would be difficult to use a door screen. I am not sure, if bead curtains are currently in fashion. This is one cure thou. Another thing is that staircase must have a turn instead of leading straight upwards to the second floor. 2. Toilet at the centre of the house (ground floor)... this is a fundamental flaw.. and implies money flowing away... Very difficult or rea…

Dear Tri Nguyen, I wrote this reply recently and I hope you find it useful:- I mentioned earlier in some of the replies in the forum that it is common practise of Hong Kong Feng Shui Masters/pactioners to use fish tank as Feng Shui `cures'. What I mean is that between the two : fountains / waterfall, which is considered to bring beneficial ch'i to a home. Placed either outside the compound outside the front of the house or in the living room. Fish tank as a cure. For example if a lone lamp post can be seen from the living room entrance, a Feng Shui practioner would then suggest that a fish tank be placed `overlooking' the lamp post. Notice that the lone lamp post being th…

  23. Dear Glyn, Frankly, this depends on the type of stuffed toys. If it is `cute' (don't blame me but the dictionary says cute means adorable but ugly) or any soft toys, this is acceptable. I have seen many homes even in Singapore, where the child (especially girls) display a wide range of their toys e.g. barbie dolls etc... The only thing is not to display stuffed animals e.g. tigers, leopards etc... Other objects to avoid include war toys, guns or swords etc... I am not sure how this would affect the alter ego of boys thou (if they know how to read this) and start to throw rotten eggs at me:) Likewise, swords should not be displayed facing the main entrance door and paintin…

Dear Davis, You can activate the mountain star which is in the room and it should be activated at the direction of the of NE. You can place a paper weight or hang a large painting if it happens to be a wall.
