Dear Momo, Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. Wishing you, and everyone here a Happy New Year! Please see below:- Nowadays, it is much harder to `discern' the type of element related to a career. This is because of the element of `multi-skilling'. It it common nowadays; for one to be `multi-skilled' not only in our job but in a wide spectrum of a job. For example, some of us may be an accountant, while others may be in PR, Marketing or Administration. Common usage of computers and other related equipment is very common. Thus, we are today - more `multi-skilled' than ever. And it thus much harder to define a job or relate it (totally) to one specific element …

These are some considerations: 1. For example, a CEO. He can be in-charge of many departments e.g. Accounting & Finance (metal), Marketing and Sales (Fire), Public Relations (Fire). 2. But ultimately his main CORE function is to GROW the company = Wood element. 3. So, other the industry that you are in; what are your core skills? You have ask yourself. What is your main or chief function. For example if you are suppose to develop a software or fine-tune it or make it work; then most likely "programming" or water element. 3.1. If you are there to SELL software then Fire element. 4. Nowadays, what it means that the industry one is in; may not be purely what a…

  5. Dear Vadym, 1. The more accurate analysis is the use of Pillars of Destiny as it analyses your Year, Month, Day and Time of birth. In the more advanced analysis, Year, Month, Day, Time, House of Conception and House of Birth are taken into consideration. 2. Thus, if the proper analysis was done and as you are deduced to be a `strong metal', you can use more advanced methods such as looking at each direction based on the element. 3. For example, North is Water. South is Fire element. Thus for this two sectors: 4. Since water exhausts your STRONG metal thus create a balance. This sector is considered good for you. 5. Fire is also good sector as fire destroys strong metal t…

Dear Susan, In my opinion, this is a rudimentary way of looking at analysing Ba Zi. Overall, what you did does not take into considerations:- harms, punishments, double and triple combinations of elements (which some are good while others are not favourable to one's element. Basic Ba Zi also includes, the Year, Day, Month, Hour of birth. But professional Ba Zi has to include not only the above but also two other pillars : House of Life and House of Conception. Perhaps, you can learn more about what Full Ba Zi analysis looks like under this url:- http://sg.geomancy.net/consultation/consult-others/fullbazianalysis.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Masters Cecil & Robert, This may sound silly or stupid, but even after reading your site as well as user's questions and your answers to them, I am quite confused when it comes to applying the elements theory. I work in Advertising as a copywriter. But since 4 years, it's like life has come to a standstill. In 2000-end, because of office politices, I had to quit my job. Then, health problems got severe, so started freelancing. The first year was fine, but then assignments dwindled, new ones never finalised. I feel blocked creatively & otherwise. I am really depressed. Please advise. # My present house is a 7 period house. Rectangular in shape. Main colour a…

Master Cecil, Thank you for your prompt reply. As I am a male yin wood OX with 5 earth , 3 wood , missing water, fire and metal. As I am not well versed in Feng Shui and I gather from your sample that I can increase my unfavourable elements to compensate the missing ones in my ba zi reading and reduce earth and wood colours . Is that correct ? Thank You Mike .

Dear Cecil, I'd like to ask some questions regarding a business element. As we know that the element of trading is water. But are the things being traded important too? For example, what is the element of trading electronics parts? Water or metal or fire? What happens if we trade many things which cover all 5 elements. If possible, could you please write an article on your web site that contains the element of each kind of business and career. Thanks in advance. Regards, Wasis

    1. In my opinion, this is not the best method. As so far in my life (span) you are the first to associate a child's interdisplinary studies with the Five Elements concept. 2. The Five Elements Concept: 2.1. Everything cannot be simply just "black and white". Or for that matter, if one's element is metal, imagine if we simply base on it's colours: white, gold, metallic or silver and say decorate a home that is completely "white" life will be simply plain. 2.2 We were born to admire or most of us are able to detect at least more than 60,000 shades of colours. And why limit one to One or Two? 3. Thus it is the same for studies. One should not limit one's child just to on…

Dear Anon, For career etc, you can refer to this reference chart to give you some idea of the types of career:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/talknotes/talknotes.htm Anyway, here are the classifications:- 1. Dear Anon, 1. In the past, occupations are `clear cut'. One can easily relate it to the type of occupation. 2. Nowadays, because of different functions and multi-skilling, jobs are harder to identify. 3. In my Applied Feng Shui book, I have provided many examples of jobs and the relation to the elements. 4. Under the Pillars of Occupation Report under geomancy-online.com , it shows the `types' of occupation: 4.1. Occupation and Wealth Occupations, based on Pillars of Destiny would most like provide wealth. 4.2. Occupation and Power Occupations that `gives' one power 4.3. Other occupations Examples of occupations are highlighted each for Wealth, Power and Other occupation…

Dear Linh, Congratulations on your new home and thanks for the detailed description. Based on just the Shapes and Form School in relation to elevation, it is good to have the house slightly higher than its `surrounding'. Therefore based on what you had written, can be considered auspicious. Sometime back, there was an example from a Feng Shui author (I forgot which book) but the author mentioned that it is auspicious to have the car drive up to a higher level. The poor thing was that the car was driven above steps and in the result was that the car had higher repair bills. Some Feng Shui practioners asks some to walk up stairs (symbolic of a raise). I leave it to each …

Dear Niteka, Yes, I also believe that as far as possible, the centrepoint of the home should have clear space. Particularly the movement of the elevator creates Sha Qi at the centrepoint of the home which is not ideal. (The near equavalent is the toilet at the centrepoint). The staircase is a secondary (problem) as when compared to the elevator. Frankly, we normally wish or hope that there can be an effective `cure' but this is best avoided (if one can). As this is Sha Qi with regards to Shape and Form. Warmest Regards, Cecil

In my opinion, these are some considerations: 1. Often, not an issue unless 1.1. there are too many left over items such as large amounts of pebbles or stones. 1.2. This is not Feng Shui, but avoid placing it at corridors or areas when rain water may flood into the fish tank (mosquito breeding). Otherwise, I don't think there is any issue with the empty fish tank.

Hi, Although there is a significance attached to the interpretation of each Trigram (hexagram) for each direction. This is about it. This is commonly known as the Eight Associations or Aspirations or Life Aspirations. One must remember that even the basic Compass School Eight house theory is personalised to a person i.e. based on his/her year of birth. Each one of us thus have a specific kua number. If you look at the Eight Aspirations Concept, it is applied to everyone and this really makes no sense. I have often quoted that if each of us e.g. 10 of us in an office places a picture frame or rose at the SW, and all of us are trying to get close to a specific colle…

Dear Diane, It would be `nice' if you have a sketch of the front door area to better appreciate the situation. Usually, it may not be all that bad as the front door is `protected' from poison arrows. This is the plus point. However, this is usually considered in relation to the entire house layout such as the entry and exit points of `Qi' e.g. from windows, main entrance to the back area and also to look at the `frontage' of the house. Based on `Feng Shui' by intuition, if all along there is `peace' and harmony in the home for the 140 year old house, the adage is "if it is not broken, don't fix it". But if there is a `history' of problems or a common problems for the hous…

I am having trouble with money. I can only give you some background below. Bottom Line how can I fix the money going onto credit cards - but not coming in to pay the bills, food, mortgage and car loans. As you can see I am a dog breeder and have been for 10+ years. This is the worst year in my history. The dogs have only had 1/2 the numbers of puppies that they usually have. My husbands job of 32 years burned to the ground in April. I have 24 dogs and none are coming into heat, had or having babies for the last 6 months. I usually have three dogs at a time every 3 months. 1. The holistic method is to maximize the three main luck factors: 1.1. Heaven Luck - the question you asked lies within this area 1.2 Earth Luck - Feng Shui of your home and even office surroundings 1.3 Man or Human Luck 2. What you had mentioned earlier that your five element breakdown shows that you have zero water, zero wood etc... this is often "corrected" by some parents or grand parent going to a geomancy to try to get a CHINESE name balanced to or harmonised to the person. As you are aware some people change their name later part of their life perhaps as their parent did not have the luxury of checking out one for them earlier in life. 3.For a strong yin metal,…

Dear Aloysius, 1. Usually, the most common method is that one can still try to activate M8 in this sector. 2. In addition, some practitioners may recommend aconcave bagua mirror. Where it is used to "suck" back the missing corner. Ideally,a neighbour's balcony / living room should not be in very closeproximity when we hang aconcave bagua mirror. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Aloysius Chia wrote: A HDB flat balcony happen to be in a west sector with flying star M8 W6 B9 and under 8 mansion it isin theYan Nian sector. Further to the earlier message, this combination of stars is pretty interesting:- If Moutain Star #2 and Water Star #7, the significance is:- "Enjoy good wealth during period 7. However, great wealth will result in possible romance. Beware of someone using kindness or romance to cheat you of your wealth."
