Dear Max, It is very common to have a reception facing the main entrance door: 1. Especially if it is at least 1.5 to 2 metres away from the entrance door. 2. Usually, reception counter is full table height when seen from the main entrance. 3. Under Feng Shui, an analysis may be done to check the auspiciousness of the main door entrance. In instances where the main door area is auspicious, by having the reception counter at the centre, may inadvertently, divide the `LUCK' into TWO. This is because, the Qi that is meant to come into the main entrance door would be split into two or halved in instances where the reception is at the centrepoint. This needs further FS inves…

Dear Anon, Generally, when we select an auspicious date, usually, (for practical purposes) it should be the start-date. As mentioned, this definition is more practical and can easily be applied. For example, lets take the case of a fixed location. More often, many people select a good date and time to go-into a new home (initial - opening of the door). Thus, for example an auspicious date could be tommorrow between 7 to 8.59am. And a very inauspicious time is from say9am to 11am. Once we entered the home (and in your case) bordered the plane, then this is considered as in general auspicious, already. Thus if we spent more time in the home say after 9am, it does not ma…

Dear Tam, 1. For the kitchen, even in Traditional Feng Shui practise, there are many `controversies' relating to the location of the stove. And even confusion over the stove or on the entire Kitchen. 2. One of the reasons is because there is (no where in the house) that has the two water and fire elements `close by'. Please see below:- A. Some practioners say that the Kitchen (plus stove) should be the auspicious sector for the breadwinner. Some say that it should be more important for it to be the auspicious sector for the spouse (who uses the kitchen). It is not wrong for some practioners to say that the stove can be at an inauspicious sector as it burns the inaus…

Dear Kim Lee, 1. Frankly, I am not in the position to comment on the type of Feng Shui advice that was given to you previously. 2. Usually, when we make an accessment, the breadwinner and spouse Ba Zi is looked at: 2.1 For example: What is the husband's Ba Zi element and strength? e.g. husband = weak wood. 2.2 What is the wife's Ba Zi element and strength? Strong metal. 3. In such a situation, the binding element for both partners is water. 4. In the above example since the husband is a weak wood, too much earth element is harmful to him. (Although Earth element is suppose to be his `wealth' element. Note: wealth element is auspicious only if one is a strong wood person, …

Dear Marissa, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Monday, July 19, 1999 1:44 AM Subject: bedroom colors There are three ways to go about doing the colour schemes:- 1. If unsure, use a neutral colour like white for the room. 2. The most accurate way is to:- Step 1: Look at the Flying Star Chart of the House. For example, if there is a Five Yellow or a bad 5 star at a location, it is best to avoid earth colours like yellow. If not, this will enhance the earth colour. Step 2: Your pillars element and its strength is important. For example, if you are a weak Fire person, you can …

Hi, Here, you must note that there is a `Ranking' or `Priority' i.e. it is more important to be at a good sector of influence rather than face a good direction. For example, if you are constantly sleeping at one of your auspicious/good sectors, this is considered good. It would be better if you can sleep in a auspicious/good sector and also face a good direction. Contrast this to sleeping in an inauspicious sector but facing your good direction. It will not do much good here. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sophia, The primary consideration in a kitchen is the placement of the stove. It should typically be oriented in a direction that is convenient for the spouse or the woman of the household. Regarding the kitchen sink, this is generally not a significant concern, and it is permissible for it to be positioned as you have indicated. Therefore, it is not essential to keep the toilet door closed even when it is not in use. You are correct in stating that excessive partitions or screens should be avoided in the home. Improperly placed partitions can disrupt the flow of the home, akin to a knife cutting through its various areas. For resident…

1. Name plate pointing towards your entrance:- Unfortunately, the best alternative is a tit-for-tat situation. Install the same pointed exactly towards your neighbour'sname plate is one solution. 2. You mentioned: two bagua mirrors .. fixed facing your door If you have a photo of the mirrors would be great or at least describe each of the mirrors e.g. one mirror has a bagua trigram on the outer rim and a concave or convex mirror.. etc.. If you have more details; then may be just may be the tit-for-tat house number plate is not necessary. Without more details....... difficult to figure out what is the "cure" especially for the two mirrors that you had mentioned... Ma…

Dear Din Lee, Din Lee wrote: Need to know if my office sitting position is facing the six killing ie "liu sha" position and i cannot possible change my sitting arrangement. What can i do to minimise the bad impact.. Generally, unless a personis holding a key position in the company, it is most unlikely that you will be able to have the flexibility to choose a sitting position. So there is very little you can do even if you are stting facing your inauspicious direction. However, what we always advise is that there are still many areas in your life that you can improve. As long as, you can improve your ba zi luck, even if you work in an inauspicious direction, your luck …

1. Frankly, especially if one is single, not only yourself but many teenagers have idols. And many of your age have pin-ups like what you have described. It is totally fine! 2. This is unlike a situation, where one is married and have this 60's pin-up in the master bedroom. Here, it would invite "jealousy" by one's partner! Especially if the only pin-up is of this lady and not your wife! Go ahead, to place the picture (photo)! Especially since it will make you happy and all these personalisation makes for a cosy room!

Dear Lisa, Frankly, this figurine is " remotely related " to Feng Shui. Under Chinese belief, yes, it should face `into' the house where one can accumulate luck. As for the placement, in general, place it at a location you personally feel comfortable with. Dear Anon, Based on just the Shapes and Form School, there should not be a problem with the kitchen above the toilet. It would be inauspicious if it is the other way around i.e. the toilet (especially the toilet bowl) above i.e. the stove or cooking area. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, In a " cold " country, it is acceptable to have a chimney. It is a good feature to have in such houses especially in the winter as it provides warm to the household. You can say that it is the near equivalent of the stove if we want to see it that way. A stove is a very important part of the home. However, we may perhaps look at the positioning of the chimney. This is considered a more important factor. I remembered that a few persons also written in much earlier (in the previous forum) that in their country, they have water pipes running along the floor of the house. If I am not mistaken it is Sweden. - Hope my memory is correct here). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, Sorry for the delay in reply as I was giving a few talks last few days. You are free to wear rings because these are small objects and really quite insignificant to the wearer. Unless, you are going to wear a ring on each finger etc... Where possible, one or two rings at a time is acceptable. I know that some enterprising people are now begining to sell rings that promote `Luck', in the name of Feng Shui etc.. Sometimes this is psychological and `changes' our personality i.e. give a person something to hope. Otherwise, in general these are all commercial stuffs. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, It is not necessarily true. Yellow represents the earth element. The only way to find out whether a specific location is bad or avoidable is to do a Flying Star Chart. The two bad stars are 2 (sickness) and 5 (misfortune). If there are these two stars in a specific sector in your home, it would be best not to use yellow as yellow is the earth element and it will further `enhance' the earth elements of 2 and 5. Based on the YEAR - Flying Star chart for this year, the South is considered having " 5 yellow ". Number Five represents `Big Earth' and in turn, it's colour is Yellow and Earth element. Number Five is considered inauspicious under the Flying Star Chart …

Dear Pun, 1. In Feng Shui, the area of main entrance door should be proportionate to the external wall frontage of the house. If say 4 panels of the glass doors can be opened, there is likelyhood that the main entrance is considered larger than the frontage of the house. 2. Where possible, avoid opening the side of the glass doors which are directly facing the gate. More importantly, the glass door should not be on the straight line as the backdoor or open space. Where Qi would take a straight path out of the house. 3. If so, you may need to consider a screen or a display cabinet that does not have `holes'. 4. If your concern is the front yard gate pillar, then if you use…
