Dear Linda, Under the Eight House theory: 1. For the breadwinner look out for the main entrance (sector) and the bedroom where the breadwinner / spouse sleeps in. 2. For other family members especially your daughter, look out for the intangible force affecting her in the bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Glenetta, Frankly, you can goto this url: http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate a free ba zi report. The report will provide you with a more accurate "element and strength" e.g. weak wood , strong wood etc... Here, your best colour schemes are also mentioned in the free report. This method or Eight Characters/ Ba Zi is preferred over the kua definition. Since kua or gua takes into account only the Year of birth, while the Ba Zi report used here, analyses the Year, Month, Day, Time (and two other pillars - house of life and house of conception). Warmest Regards, Cecil

HI Since I got married with my husband (born in year of tiger , age 37), I don't have a peace of mind. My husband is the bst husband in the worl but his family is giving me lots of problem especially my mother in law (born in year of tiger, age 63). My mother in lawa gave me lots of hard time due to her conservative way of doing things. Her extremly cleaniness & only trust her own self makes me feel very uneasy. Though I don't have any fight with her except once in year 2006 due to her accusing me for giving a dirty apple to my daughter. I stayed with my in law since My first child is born, then we move out & move back again in year 2009 when my 2nd child is born.…

Both my husband and I are East group using the calculation in the website. We are staying in a house located in the Northeast (65 degree)and our dooris located in theeast section. Eversince we moved into this house, there's always arguments between my children and I. However, our major problem is our youngest son who's a SW group born in the year of a Tiger who has a mild learning disability. Could there be something blocking his development? Is there anything we can do to bring more harmony in the house and to improve my son's condition?

Hi, Both myself and my wife are borned in the year of Tiger (1974). We are planning for another baby either this year or next year (lunar calendar). As we believe Feng Shui like common sense, will some what relate the geomancy sign in determining the suitability of the members. For example,a dog year child may not compatible with our geomancy sign.A pig year child maybe more compatible with both myself and my wife. Can you explain if this is true? On the other hand, can you suggest ways for us to improve our chances in getting a boy. Our eldest is agirl. So, we arehoping for the second one to be boy.We also aware that sometime displaying symbolic items would help but wil…

  8. I know a little about feng shui but need help but can't afford to hire someone to help. My son's wife is on warpath and is making sure I can't talk to my son and grandkids-I've been very nice to her but it doesn't work- I live in house with front door facing East. I'm an east person. My house is clean with no clutter and I have put happy family pictures in my southwest area of my house which is my bedroom. What else can I do? I don't know if it is the ending of period 7 and that I just have to wait it out or what-but it has been going on for months now and I don't know what to do- we have never had problems before---and especially nothing like this! Help!

Dear Jasmine, This is based on `commonsense' rather than Feng Shui. For example, it is said that it is best not to have a bedroom above the kitchen. The rationale is because, the kitchen is where we usually do our cooking. And there may be a remote possiblity that a fire may accidentally break out in the kitchen. (Higher probability). In such a situation, as fire travels upwards, the room above the kitchen would most likely be the first to be affected. It is the same as the garage. Here, it was felt that usually the garage may include some boxes of flammable material or used as a storage. Alternatively, some people feel that the vehicle, may catch fire. I feel that this…

Dear Jasmine, In fact, there are other comments that I had not mentioned about space above a garage: 1. Let's take an example of a building on stilts or stilt type legs. Where the building is above the ground. Some FS practitioners say that an occasional bad spirit may pass trough the stilted legs of the building, they are said to attack the weakest parts of the building which are the corners of the support beams/legs. 2. Some feel that because there is emptyness below, the structure may not support the entire room upstairs. (This is absurd unless, there is severe structural problem or poor construction material used). 3. There are many of such stories relating to this. …

Dear Piet, 1. The attached two illustrations included in this forum message shows the preferred positioning of air-conditioners. (Note: Only available for viewing by web-forum users. Not available - to users who `listen' in thru e-mail option). 2. The attached illustrations has more to do with `commonsense approach' to Feng Shui. Where it is preferred that the air-con try to avoid blowing directly to a person's face. Thus it is a better option to place an air-con at the side of the bed. 3. In my opinion, to use or not to use air-con or fan is relatively `peanuts' or minor consideration in Feng Shui. 4. We are on this earth for a relatively short period and if everything…

  14. These are some considerations: 1. Do take note that yin numbers are even: 2, 4, 6 or 8. 2. Yang numbers are 1, 3, 5 or 7. 3. In a 'yin' environment; in general, just check that if you had drawn a Flying Star chart: go thru the chart for sectors that purely have all yin stars. And check which area it is. If the room is not bright enough; then best is to let natural light flow in. (Other than a store room). 4. The most yang colours can be used in the home to neutralise yin stars: RED. 5. Lighting or natural lighting does help also to reduce the yin of the home.

Dear Kevin, 1. Under Feng Shui, the advise would still to have a frontage facing the street. However, the frontage can have a main door but opens inwards towards the `balcony' area. (Where possible the main door should not be in the line of sight of the balcony or back view. Thus one can still position the living room area towards the `back' of the house. Please see below:- This is usually not the norm. But at least if the main door is available this side of the house, it can usually open towards the living room facing the good view. However, you may need to be careful of the placement of the toilet. Best to have one side share an external wall. Avoid having the toile…

Dear Anon, What is the rationale for not having the bed on the same wall as the door? In traditional Feng Shui, this is not advisable because, if one is suppose to sleep on the same wall (plus the head against the wall), you will not be able to see who comes into the room. (There is no longer an element of surprise). Of course, we can say that the door can be closed or sleep with the legs facing the wall. But the second is not considered auspicious. Thus if it is based on Shapes and Form Feng Shui, the above is the main reason for it. You have to see if the above is a good enough reason for yourself. But this is what it generally means in Feng Shui. In my opinion, I would…

  19. Dear Latha, One may have to determine how long one has been married. In my opinion, although there are references to pregancy under the Flying Star chart where the combinations of the mountain and water star interact to give an interpretation. However, with advancement in the science of fertility, it is best to seek the advice of doctors in this specialised field praticularly if one has been married for more that 3 years and have difficulty in conceiving. Thus in my opinion, it is more worthwhile to spent money seeking fertility advise than to rely on FS. Or follow some of the methods used such as taking the temperature to check for ovaiation etc... I believe, more succe…

Dear Anon, 1. There is free report under www.geomancy-online.com where you can generate a free Comparision report which will provide you information of the `binding' element for both spouses. 2. For example, after the analysis, you get to know which element helps to bind a couple. Here, in the bedroom, one can e.g. paint the room/wall the colour to suits both parties. 3. In traditional FS, element strength is crucial in providing the correct binding element i.e. weak-weak; weak-strong; strong-strong; such combinations give different results. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Judy, Under the Five Elements concept:- 1. Other than using colour, shapes is another consideration. 2. Thus, circle symbolises metal element. While rectangle or square represents earth. 3. Generally, white, silver, chrome or gold represents metal element. 4. If one takes a close look at a Chinese Luopan, one will notice that it is made up of an external square (represented by earth) and the inner plate is the Heaven plate. 5. The key to understanding here, is that the Heaven (Metal) plate is the key to our life. The Heaven (Metal) circular plate is akin to Heaven's Qi. The Heaven qi is used to conqueror or neutralise earth imbalances e.g. the square plate. 6. This …

Dear Grace, The clue to the wealth element is based on two considerations: 1. Personal Ba Zi element of a person. Is the person a weak or strong wood? 2. The "Destructive Cycle" of the Five Elements Concept. Reference: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm 3. If one looks carefully at the "Destructive sequence", it is actually quite misleading to say that the destructive sequence in `no good'. In fact, the destructive sequence has also to do with wealth creation. 4. For example: In the case of the wood element. A plant or tree gets its nurishment from the ground. Here, literally, the roots of the plants go into the earth to `crush' and anchor itself i…

Dear Cecil, Thanks for your reply. Would like to clarify some things: * The trees planted have about 8-10 ft. distance between them. Also, I planted them in the first place because there was way too much sunlight coming in and the rooms facing that side used to get very hot. These trees also do not have dense foliage. Is it still a problem area? Before planting them, do not think I slept any better. Then all that desolate muddy space used to bother me. * The plants inside the halls are small plants - money plants, spiders - in small containers. The bigger plants are outside the hall windows on the ledge. * About the water bodies, if you mean bathrooms, etc., I have tried …
