Dear Patti, 1. Before coming to your question, for those who are new to Chinese customs, can find that during the wedding, for some Chinese, it is a custom to get a `handsome' baby boy to roll on the wedding bed several times. In the hope that the couple becomes fertile and give birth to a MALE child. 2. It is thus a taboo to allow a baby GIRL to roll on the bed! Wait.. u mean even if it is such a beautiful FEMALE child... Unfortunately, yes. 3. From my personal experience, what you mentioned dwell more on beliefs than Feng Shui. 4. Due to our present lifestyle and even (I believe) the food that we eat etc... fertility has more to do with us then on Feng Shui. 5. In some…

1. In the past, I had posted messages on living in a small room. 2. Under the outline of Chinese Metaphysics, the highest order is what is known as Tai-Ji. Below this level is the Yin and Yang concept. 3. Below the Yin and Yang Concept and if Eight House (Eight Mansions or also called Ba Cai) Feng Shui cannot be applied due to a small room, then the "higher" level Yin and Yang concept should be applied. 4. Here, Yang represents the day or bright or things equivalent to study, physical exercise. While Yin represents activities for relaxation and rest and sleep. 5. Especially for a student, which must have a balance between studies and sleep, many logically try to set a…

Dear Nancy, Thanks for your kind words. In my opinion, majority of us do not really need " Feng Shui ". (Take the case of the less fortunate). In fact, many of us are able to have a happy and wholesome life. It is what makes us special:) Usually, in today's world, questions asked are: If one is often sick quite often or face severe hardships or `calamity', could use proper FS investigations to look into what's wrong. Thus, it is always my belief that if it `ain't broken don't fix it. Many of us are able to use our `sixth sense' or even `accomodate' ourselves i.e. blend in with our surroundings .... Warmest Regards, and have a happy life:) Cecil

Further to what I mentioned earlier, there can also be a 6th category i.e. Type 6 - Houses that no human can live in. Fortunately, this type of house is either rare or has been built badly under shapes and forms. Where, one can still stay in the house but may bring calamity to the owners. General example: frontage facing a hill. Or `chopping' off the head of the house to build a new extension. Or a house where on both sides is surrounded by a house on each side. Here, both breadwinner can `die' in the space of 1 year after they have moved in. Note: this type of house is `rarer'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Nitin, You will have to find out what might be the potential problems which might be affecting your situation. Sometimes, it might be because of Feng Shui sometimes it can also be others issues (ie. work attitude /simply insufficent career advancement opportunities.) In terms of Feng Shui, you must identify where is the root of your problems:- 1. Are you having bad luck because your given luck (ie. Heaven Luck - Ba Zi) is in a very bad period. 2. Or is it your home (earth luck) which is bad for you. ie Home not suitable for you (ie Eight House - Disaster), or that the house simply have very bad luck etc. 3. Or is it you are in a career which is your unfavourabl…

Dear Wasis, 1. I personally think that a lot more issues should be taken into consideration, first. 2. I have always found the management concept: Situational approach - " It depends ". 3. It happened that, particularly in Singapore, we have a small island and majority lives in high rise buildings. 4. One must understand that as a building goes up (vertical); often, the building is at the `mercy' of the elements. 5. For example, taking my most recent comments on the condo: The Yardley. Some of the units are in a direct compass East-West line. 6. In addition, just imagine that this unit is e.g. at 7 floor/storey. And that there are no other buildings or trees to shade this…

Dear Anon, 1. It is difficult to look at Feng Shui from a micro view-point. This is often the `misconception' in Feng Shui. 2. If you are new to Feng Shui, it is best to consult a competent Feng Shui consultant to look at the site and advice on the layout of the interior of the house. 3. This is where the first `phase' is to look at the Shapes and Form School of the house i.e. the environment, the site and the plot of land. Here, this would help to identify, the frontage of the house, the position of the main door, any poison arrows and the back of the house. 4. You can further use the free tools available on the site e.g. the Eight House Chart to see which are the best …

Dear SY Wong, In general, the best days for changes or doing things e.g. moving is either the 15th or the 1st day of any lunar month. (Note: Chinese usually avoid the 7th month.) Another method is to llok at one's Ba Zi e.g. element and strength and choose dates that auspicious to one's animal sign. Also under www.geomancy-online.com there is an Auspicious date module. Which is based on an individual's element and strength and the best dates for him/her. You can also make use of the Tung Shu or the 100 year calendar to look for auspicious dates. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sang Lee, When you are using the ordinary compass, the method is the same for both direction taking of a landed property or an apartment/flat/condominium unit:- Reference:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Mechanics of how to can be found under this url:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm where you can find helpful step-by-step approach in gettting a copy of the layout plan, and using e.g. a transparency to superimpose on the layout plan the North - South direction. 1. Thanks for the re-upload of layout plan. 2. For practical purposes in applying a template onto your home layout out plan, please see attachment. The rationale for the centrepoint as shown in the attachment is that the home is nto particularly huge to warrant drawing two separate rectangles and later to use the template for Flying star and eight house purpose. 3. The best way to look at it is to consider the outline of the 2nd storey layout plan to determine the centrepoint of the home. Since this layout plan has less indentations and protrusions. 4. In your sketch, I believe the ground floor and 2nd storey should have the same outline. As in your sketch, the 2nd …

Dear Anon, 1. The general consensus amongst the majority of Feng Shui practitioners is as you had mentioned "place our bed, with the headboardpointing at ourfavourable direction ". 2. This is often the most commonly practised method of defining the above. Thus the saying "head first, not legs first". 3. This saying "head first, not legs first" also associated with the Chinese belief that if we need to bring e.g. a person using a stretcher out of a home or bedroom, we should bring his "head first, not legs, first". Legs first implies bring out a coffin or coffin, position. 4. Of course, there are a FEW Feng Shui practitioners who say that favourable direction is opposit…

Dear Joy, Method 1 ======== For 1967 (female):- [1.] 67 - 4 = 63 [2.] 63 / 9 = 7 remainder 0 [3.] Gua is the remainder 0 (which is treated as Gua 9) I believe you took the value 7 which is not the gua number. It should be the remainder 0. Since the gua is 0, it should be treated as Gua 9 instead. You can use the method 2 to in the Applied Feng Shui course to verify this. It also gives you 9 instead of 7. Method 2 ======== For 1967 (female): [1.] 6 + 7 = 13 = 1 + 3 = 4 [2.] 4 + 5 = 9 [3.] Gua is 9 You can use the Method 2 which is an easier method. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

1. In Chinese myths and symbolism, the turtle is not as prominent as the tortise. As the turtle is considered as a food item. Unlike the tortise which has relevance in stories like how the Luo Shu grid (Flying star 9 x 9 grid came about). 2. Overall, finding an animal can be "uplifiting" or feel good factor ... and more towards nice-feel 3. Based on general Feng Shui, generally is acceptable to have it placed at east or north. Quote: Anonymous wrote: I was just wondering if there is a meaning in finding a turtle or a turtle entering your home? A few years ago, i found a turtle at the north end of my home. and a couple days ago, i found another turtle entering my h…

Dear AA, There are certain things in life you cant demand. Love is one of them. If you are destined to find love now or in 2000 depends on your heaven luck. I know you have tried every thing possible to find one (that is your man luck). So why don't you do a pillar of destiny chart and see what is in store for you now and also in 2000 and then if they are favorable then you will find love. Good luck. Anon

Hi Master Cecil I was wondering if you could help me on how to find the centerpoint of my house. I read the instructions on the site but don't really understand the option for finding the center of gravity when there are multiple stories but each floor doesn't really match the perimeter of the floors above it. I live in a three story duplex townhouse which faces NE3 (52.5-67.5) and is period 7 The building itself is a rectangular block but the lower 2 floors are shared with my neighbor: 1st floor - only small foyer and garage belong to me, the majority of the area belongs to my neighbor (outlined with dashes) 2nd floor - living dining kitchen -- a…

Dear Anon, 1. Please goto the conference: Feng Shui Tips and Guidelines. Immediately on the top page of the conference, try to read two articles: Part I Facing direction of a home Part II Facing Direction of a home. 2. More importantly, one need to understand the concept of Flying Star or what is considered as the "mouth" of the house from this article. If so, one can basically apply Flying Star Feng Shui more effectively. 3. And hopefully able to answer your questions, either more convincingly or with conviction. As no two homes are the same nor for apartments - where height or storey /floor can play a difference. Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: Dear Maste…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, it is very difficult to depend on a compass to determine all these stars that you had mentioned. Frankly, if this is the case, a book on " Secrets of Wealth, Relationships Revealed " may come in a paperback. If there is such an authentic book, then, in my opinion, it would be the hottest seller outselling books like the bible. But unfortunately, a holistic approach is a better bet. All of us in our lifetime have taken examinations since young. And we all know that the `clue' here is simply put -- to score maximum marks in the various sections of the paper. Holisic Feng Shui is also like this. And one should take into account the best practises o…

Dear Mary, Frankly, there is no major issue in the installation of finials other than that it / or a wall be built so high that it looks more like a prison. Overall, if your aim is for privacy, the common overlapping wooden / often maintenance free wooden fence is acceptable either in wood tone colours or white. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In my opinion, this can be quite "tricky". For example, if it involves a major renovation to get the entire basement upgraded, there is a likely chance that your home can change to period 8. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Arthur, 1. In general, a Metal Rat (born say in 1960) is already 43 years old. And a Fire Horse is often 1 year younger. 2. Many years ago, the most common thing is for us to read either Chinese astrology or Western zodiac signs. 3. Many of these readings may create "auto-suggestion". What we read, we may (concious or unconciously) act out the profile. Worse still, the idea of a "self-fulfilling prohercy" 4. Contrary to what one may thing, one has to look at the destructive cycle of the five elements:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm In fact, the destructive cycle is about wealth production. 5. For example: Wood gets nurishment from the Ea…
