General Help

Seek General Advice from Master Cecil Lee

  1. Dear Anon, So far, I do not believe that anyone has painted their walls black. Black creates a dark environment. Contrast this with a white wash house that looks bright and clean. Therefore, there is some truth in the statement. Applying the 33.3 percent ruleset, other black objects or items should not be an issue here. For example, IBM products are all black. Their excellent IBM thinkpad notebook PCs, some high end PCs are all encased in black. Robert and myself, do use these black machines without cause for concern. Overall, one can also apply the 33.3 percent ruleset where less than 33.3 percent is not going to affect a person. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Felicia, Frankly, under Feng Shui (Pillars of Destiny) there is no direct application to improve one's relationship. This is because the closes concepts is based on Pillars of Destiny (Ba Zhi). However, Ba Zhi has an `escape clause' which says that it can map out one's Heaven map e.g. of a person and his/her luck. However, our education, parents influence, our experiences can change our heaven's luck. In my opinion, it is better to use other `educational' techniques or behaviour model e.g. child psychology etc... For now, the closest I believe Pillars of Destiny can help is to do a Pillars of Comparison Chart to find the binding elements of two parties. This module…

  3. Dear JL, 1. The main purpose of all Feng Shui theories is to correct imbalances in the Five elements. 2. Under the Flying Star School of Feng Shui, for example if there is an imbalance e.g. a Sickness (2) star and a Misfortune (5) star. If the location happens to be the bedroom, one has thus to cure the imbalance e.g. placing 6 coins at that sector to cure it. Here, an imbalance is `calculated' and thus a remedy is used to neutralise the imbalance. 3. Many a times, when one usually fall sick, the above would most likely be the cause. Here, we take action to cure it for a specific reason. Being healthy afterwards, can be indirectly related to `fertility'. 4. Many Feng Shu…

Dear Anon, Usually, from what I have encountered, this should not pose a problem. Especially if one only rents a bedroom. There is not much choice here. The only thing to remember is to conceptally "departmentalise" the bedroom i.e. keep the scultures at a corner or if really no space on a display shelf or at a corner table or even share it with the study table. We have to be practical as not all situations can be overcomed... our love of the sculpture and space constraints. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. The reason why some FS Practitioners say to palce it in the good sector is so that when it rings, it is suppose to bring `good luck'. Unfortunately, there are others who have the view point that the `ringing' at a good sector `chase' away good luck. 2. Some on the other hand advise to place as what you had mentioned, West and NW because these are metal element sectors. To these practitioners, they `feel' that as the West and NW are metal element sectors, one should enhance the metal element with `rining' tones as to them the ringing tone is metal element. Similarly, to these FS practitioners wind chimes and even clocks with pendulum serves this purpose. 3. …

Dear Anon, I hope that I have taken a better picture of the old bungalow built in the 1920's. To view the pictures and the comments made, please go to the conference: Photo Tours. Look for the message Revisited: The old bungalow house built in 1920s Hope the above helps. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1:3 is equal to 33.33%. This is a reasonable Feng Shui figure. (please see below) The above is a good guideline. It is used widely in the forum and it should be a good guage when applied to doors and windows. Other "applications" include the advice given if the missing area is 33.3 percent or more, this is considered a missing corner. More examples can be found in messages under this forum. I usually term it the 33.3 percent Ruleset. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  9. Dear Anon, The first thing that strikes my mind when I read was message is the Lotus seed plant which can grow on water. When I have the time we can look at this topic of `water plants'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Grateful if you can further elaborate on the extension. For example is it an `external' extension for a car park or an internal one. If internal, what is it used for. In addition, anyone who is familiar with the history of the house. This is because, beside the new extension, we could perhaps, `back-track' to see if any events match the flying star of the period. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  11. Dear Anon, The element strength is not calculated under the free report. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Carrie, We have been looking into this issue for quite sometime. Initially, we were toying with time zones but based on the work done by Robert and myself, we prefer to take the season or time of influence from China. Let me explan why:- 1. Countries like Singapore is exactly on the same time zone as Beijing China. Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan are equally within the same time zone. Even Perth Australia is exactly on the same time belt as Beijing. The rationale is because Chinese hour is two hours and not one hour. 2. Some western FS practioners use the time zone but did not take into account both the longetude and latitude. Bearing in mind these two influences, fo…

  13. Started by elena,

Dear Elena, 1. Yes, you are quite right. Money plants comes in small, medium or large plants. Small plants merely have roots and can grow in a small bowl filled with water. Smooth rocks are placed to hold the plants. Here, the money plant does not look like it has vines. 2. It is more a western concern, I believe that plants do not have vines rather than Chinese belief. I believe there is no issue. Perhaps, you can let us know who mentioned the statement or perhaps, the author or the book. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Karen, I believe that water leaks should be the pumbing of the house and not related to `omens'. Frankly, for now it is difficult to associate leaks with `Feng Shui.' It is best to have the pumbing fixed as soon as possible. For accessing the home, it is preferred that one uses the Flying Star theory to check for imbalances. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Daniel, There are different ways to determine the best colour of carpet: 1. If one considers determining the colour under Feng Shui, it would involve finding out the person's element and it's strength. For example, if your element is a weak water person. You can consider a blue or green carpet (which represents) water element. A weak person need more water to balance him. Alternatively the productive element for water is wood. So go for a green or brown carpet. 2. If one considers two persons e.g. husband and wife and wants to find a binding element, can make use of the Pillars of Comparison at www.geomancy-online.com (for members) to find the binding element (colour…

Dear Anon, 1. It would be better if I could see a scanned image. 2. As you have described, it does not look `ideal' especially if there is a tilt. Frankly, I still not sure how much is the tilt or curve etc... Therefore, unable to give you a fuller analysis. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Angie, 1. I understand it can be quite confusing on `Feng Shui'. 2. Frankly, it is best not to use the Eight Associations or Eight Aspirations `Feng Shui' nor fixed template Feng Shui. 3. If you set aside the above, and start `fresh' as what you have done, you can use traditional Feng Shui for your benefit. 4. Unfortunately, each Feng Shui theory has its strength and weakness. When you are using the Eight House theory, it is more to find out : a. How suitable for you to your house. b. In the bedroom, are you sleeping in a good direction. c. Priority should be given to (b). and only after, you can see if you are sleeping with your head facing a good sector. This is l…

The water stars to currently activate are #7- current prosperity, #8 future prosperity and #9 - prosperity yet to come. Before you activate the water stars they must be in an open space - like main entrance, not locked away in a bedroom or such other room. Water stars need activity. Mountain stars need no movement. Do not activate other water stars especially #2 - sickness star and #5 - misfortune star. Water in the west is not good. Glyn

Water in the west is bad because: 1. The west is a yin location 2. Water will make west even more yin, thus creating an imbalance. 3. During period 7, even if you have #7 water star, water is bad as it can cause loss of wealth. So, during period 7, no water in the west, unless you want to experience financial problems. Glyn

  20. Dear Anon, It is for decorative purpose as no one else uses it. I believe, the owners, saw it, liked it and bought it to place on their main gate pillars. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  21. Started by d_kelly,

Dear Daniel, In open living, ideally, (under Feng Shui conditions) there is still some `partitioning'. It may not be a full wall. It can be something like an eating or storage counter separating the cooking area from the living room. In the living room, the act of placing furniture to segregate the living room from other locations is as effective as using walls. Therefore, there is really no issue here. For an `L' shaped room even if it is an open space can effectively be segregated into two whole rectangles. This is a better FS configuration that leaving the house as an `L' shaped. (This is based on Shapes and Form Feng Shui.) Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

  22. Dear Anon, This is based on supertitious belief than Feng Shui. But some believe in not keeping the rooster in the dinning room. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  23. Dear Anon, Grateful if you can elaborate further. As my initial understanding is that the chimney should be on the side of the door? Or is it possible for the fire place to be exactly one floor upstairs just above the main entrance door? Thanks. Cecil

  24. Started by Lizbeth,

Dear Anon, Ideally, it should be a painting e.g. of a mountain scenery or an object with immovable mass. For the bamboo style plate, in general, it is in my opinion too `weak' to be classified to activate the mountain star. Yes, if the sector is an auspicious sector, it is even better to activate a mountain star. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  25. Started by CloudLeopard,

Dear Cloud, Although, I have some idea of what the `tray' ceiling looks like but have not seen one closely so cannot (fully) comment on how `bad' it is. Overall, two Feng Shui `tools' are available: 1. A pair of flutes in a `Ba Gua formation' ----- / \ 2. Windchime One has to be cautious if one uses it in the room or at any other locations in the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil
