Dear Kathy, Please see below:- It is usually not advisable to base on just one Feng Shui theory and say for sure that the main front door is inauspicious:- Of-course, under the Eight House Theory, it is best to have a home that has a suitable main entrance door but:- 1. Under Shapes and Form Feng Shui; One should also consider the statement " Protect, protect, protect". If one were to say shift the main door to orientate to a good direction; one should consider if any threats to the main entrance. For example, the new door position could encounter a lone lamp post or a sharp corner of another building. Alternatively, it could now be oriented towards the North-East (…

Dear Glyn, Truly sad to hear about the series of mishaps. On the surface, like you mentioned it looks like the effect of the Grand Duke. Perhaps, Shapes and Form may (or may not) be a further cause of it especially if the building profile has been `altered'. This is because, Shapes and Form has been known to result in such tragedies. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear MK, In my opinion, the balcony is not the best place to place an altar - especially if it is subject to the elements (e.g. rain or direct sunlight). For plants, there is often no specific plant but rather, for indoor plants often, they should have "waxy" leaves and darker green colour. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, On reading your `concept' it sounds interesting. It is more a case of `desperately' trying to find a location to activate a mountain star. *No offense* I mean it as a joke. The above is considered a `flaw' concept. This is because there are two methods to divide a house into either 9 proportionate squares or use a pie chart dividing the house into 8 sectors with an extra sector at the centre of the house. One sector represents a compass direction. I understand what you are saying. It is like an `L' shaped house and you can further divide the two rectangles of the `L' shape into the two rectangles. As much as we want to have mountain stars in our home, we cannot…

Dear Pema, In my opinion, it is best to monitor the situation first since it is newly painted. The only best option is to make sure that the interior of the home has sufficent natural lighting (if possible) to create a more Yang environment. Other options include analysing the front entrance door using Flying Star analysis to confirm your `findings'. In situations where there is a `bad wood' or star #3 at the front door: combined with the brown colour representing wood, it may not be good as the brown color would further `enhance' the bad wood #3. This may not be `true' under your circumstances, you may need to take note of it. Warmest Regards, Cecil ----- Original Messag…

Dear Francisco, There are two ways to look at it. If you sell things complementary to the needs for the dead, probably you will do quite well. If you don't, and, then you will definately not benefit from it. So if you think your business is affected by it, better move out to a better location. Don't know how else to advise you here. DearPui Yong, Cheong Pui Yong wrote: Is it suitable to have wealth tree and lotus flower picture in the bedroom? I also have an airport for boiling water in the bedroom because I am living in an one room place Thanks for any advise! A) Actually, it is bad to have plants or tress in the room for two reasons:- 1) The room should be yin for resting. Plants are considered yang, so it is bad to have them in the room. 2)The 2nd reasonis plants will produce oxygen in the day, but at night they will also fight with you for oxygen. Thus, both the plants and yourself will be fighting for the same amount of oxygen. This is why it is not good to place plants in the bedroom. It …

Dear Sandra, Since you cannot do much in terms of furniture layout, you can consider placing a display small dragon (can be made of glass or other materials) to aim it directly at the edge (or tangent) to the edge of the cabinet. This is a mild form of cure. Other alternatives include placing a fork aimed at the edge or a small toy cannon. I believe you should be able to place e.g. the dragon on the edge of the table such that it can be aimed at the edge and not aimed at your body. I hope this is achievable. If you are unable to have a straight path between e.g. the dragon and the edge of the cabinet, then, it is best not to place one on the table. (If it can `hit' you.)…

In general:- 1. In Feng Shui, the rationale why it is considered not good to have a door face another door. For example in the attached two illustrations: 2. Please see marking in red "A" and "B". In original attachment (Illustration 1) one can see that the two doors (marking A and B) are directly facing each other. 3. In common sense Feng Shui, just imagine two persons each at A and B standing and confronting each other. Thus, sounds like a fight during "High Noon". This is why some have "asked" to avoid this "confrontation" between those staying in each of the two bedrooms. Refer to illustration 2. 4. Frankly, I am not sure what you are getting at. 4.1. Firstly, if yo…

Dear Sarah, 1. In Traditional Feng Shui, wind chimes need not necessarily meant to be hang in the north/north west part of the house. It depends. It depends on the individual FS audit done for the home. Usually, this is referenced to the Flying Star chart. 2. If we do not consider Para 1, or use intuition, or simply liked a wind chime and placed it at a location that we personally find suitable, it should be `non-intrusive' or should `fit' the location. A `commonsense' approach is that since the wind chime constantly touches your door, it should normally not touch the door. As this is also considered a `decorative' piece, it should blend with or harmonise with the locati…

Dear Max, Yes, with proper soil analysis and soil management especially drainage and structurally sound retaining walls, houses built as you had mentioned can be auspicious. Many a times, some of the various reasons below compounded by weather may cause landslides: 1. In many instances, too many houses were built on these hills providing downward pressure on the hill. This is less of an issue if there are no heavy downpours. But if there are heavy downpours, coupled by poor retaining walls or vegetation.. a landslide may be eminent. 2. Ideally, the best hills are those of limestones (hard rocks). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Thanks Cecil. Drier skin isn't something I had thought of. I'll check into it. I've also heard that some people use copper or other metals to help with these types of things, but I can't find which kind to try. The shocks are quite bad (and painful). Grounding does help but isn't always easy to do (esp when petting an animal). Food is another interesting one. I'll start keeping track of when the shocks get worse. Thanks, MaryAnne

If you are applying Flying Star:- 1. the Mountain Star #9 with Water Star #7 in general is not a major issue. Unless one further takes into consideration base or palace star #2. 2. Since you are looking at the "stars"; you should also check where #2 and #5 are in relation to your home. 3. For example, are annual #2 and #5's found in your dad's bedroom and/or frontage or any other sectors.....

Dear Anon, 1. There are many and varied ideas and beliefs regarding the type and number of fishes to be kept. 2. I agree that one belief is that some practitioners advise to keep fish according to the `season' of birth. 3. But, this is subject to interpretation or misinterpretation. Nowadays, most fishes bred in captivity, no longer `comes' from one season but rather, difficult to determine the `exact' season. Next, if you go to commercial outlet or shops, some of these outlets may have difficulty finding a fish that suits a person. 4. Here, you may end up buying fishes based on colors that suit you. For example, if you are a weak wood person, you may be asked to buy a g…

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I really do understand (or thought I did) the five elements concept clearly. I believe my confusion comes from reading conflicting information. i.e Idiots guide: center of home: 3(sitting)7 (facing)5 construction. their comment was: Metal pierces wood, domination cycle involving the unfavorable #3 and prevailing but inherently unfavorable #7 - add reductive phase water. ISN'T #7 LUCKY UNTIL 2004 WHEN THE CYCLE CHANGES? Am I making too much out of this? Any good books you could recommend? Thanks soooo much.

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My front door is alligned with my back door. What should I do to cure this? The front door is a double door but the back door is only a single door. Generally, when you door opens out to a back door or a window on the opposite side of the house. The solution to fix it is pretty simple. Simply have a partition or screen between the door to allow the Qi to circulate around the Qi. Similiar to this example:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-breath.htm Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

In my opinion, you may have taken too large a shoe to fill. In your case, it is like in real life, you may have to employ a consultant for your project. This is a fact of life. Thus frankly, resources for your thesis, will not come with a silver spoon or any spoon. Good Luck.

Dear Anon, It is acceptable to use a beaded curtain in replacement to a screen. Both serves the same purpose. 1. So far, I have seen very few houses where a particular sector needs to be `kept quiet' under the Flying Star chart. In such a senario, a beaded curtain is not advisable. However, the chance of `meeting' such a situation is not common or the probability of encountering it is lesser. 2. Avoid using metallic beads at the following compass directions: NE (devil's gate), West (Metal) & NW (Metal). Unless analysed by a competent FS practioner. Warmest Regards, Cecil
