Dear Anon, Usually, when placing windchimes the most important question asked is: 1. I am placing a windchime simply for the `love' (enjoyment) of it or 2. I am placing one or more windchimes because I read that it is good to have windchimes. If it is Para 1, usually a single windchime should not be a problem and if one usually go with our feelings, and place it at a location, one is comfortable with then there is not much issue here. (Unless, it happens to be one of the `bad' sectors where metal should not be used. For example, under Feng Shui, one should do a Flying Star analysis especially one is placing a metallic wind chime at the NW and West sector (which are Metal …

Dear Samsiah, Usually, to analyse the entire apartment complex then, it would probably have to be the front door (facing the neighbour's front gate). But if you are trying to analyse your apartment, then; for high floors or high storeys 8th storey and above, then it is often the frontage of the apartment or often the living room area or the facing direction where you have the most windows and/or balcony. If your apartment is often 7th storey and below, then often, it should be the main entrance to your unit. As the rest of your question seems more like doing a full audit, sorry this forum is about clarifications or a catalyst to your understanding of how to. Warmest …

1. Some Geomancers consider "water" in the bedroom as:- 1.1. Some defined water as a Yin element : thus to them water is not suitable to be used in a "yin" location e.g. such as a bedroom. Here, it is a "static" painting, and not real moving water. 1.2. There are some who consider a painting of a water fall, as "moving" water ... so to them their interpretation is that since a bedroom should be for rest "yin"; then moving water = Yang is not suitable in a bedroom environment. 2. Frankly, these are the two most common interpretations by different Geomancers. Again, there is no right or wrong answers. See which or both appeal to best to the lay person. 3. What is really…

In my opinion, external (MACRO-Feng Shui) influences such as moderately fast and unclean water flowing.. has to be further investigated. Especially as the direction of flow, the angle or curve of flow if any. If you know how to plot a flying star chart and use it; then you can still try to improve the MICRO-level (within four walls) Feng Shui of your home.

Dear Dharmawan, Wow! This is certainly new to me! In my opinion, I would consider this as simply "hocus-pocus" type of linkage or consideration. Imagine, if some of us were born in the year of the rabbit, then, we MUST rear rabbits? Or if we are born in the year of the tiger? How do we rear a free roaming tiger? Hmm... In addition, for many Malays especially in Singapore or Malaysia, have never touched a "dog" or had not rear one as dogs especially their saliva is considered "dirty". More importantly, I would consider this area that you had mentioned as belonging not so much as to Feng Shui (EARTH luck) of the home but rather: Human or man luck area. Here, often esp…

1. There are many factors involved in Feng Shui when evalutating of a (new) home. 2. Since it is one of the largest investment that one is likely to make; if you are not sure, then try to get a competent practitioner to evaluate the home for you. 3. Traditionally, the number of the home is "transparent" to Feng Shui. 4. There are many different methods and formulas with regards to whether a house number is auspicious, inauspicious or neutral. 5. And in many instances, the phonetic "sound-like" e.g. Cantonese avoid #4 etc.... can affect the resale value (or marketing) of a home especially in a predominant area with some Chinese. 6. Numbers are a double-edged sword: F…

Dear Cecil, Thank you for the advice. I am relieved to hear that I probably didn't cause all these water/drainage type of problems with one of my amateur "cures". We have had 2nd opinions and it is really "broken". It is good to know my fiddling didn't influence it. Kathy

In my opinion, it depends on whether a person is a strong or weak element. A person who has a strong element; e.g. strong water, strong wood, strong earth etc.. can utilise the 'destructive' cycle in your own words "for coloring". For example: a strong earth person: wood element (green or brown) can be used to destroy earth to create what is called "Power and Authority" for that person. And as a strong earth person's wealth element is Water.

Dear Anon, Apologies, I still do not understand your question. To analyse a house, one should instead use proper tools like Flying Star Theory. One look at whether the house should be at the top or bottom quadrant is `too superficial' way of looking at things. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I plan to get a first level (ground level) condo with PES and is facing a pool. Could you advise me anything that i need to take note while selecting the unit. Frankly, each unit is unique on it's own so it hard to tell you what you should be looking out for.All I can is to look out for any general sha qithat might cut into your home and other shapes and form issues such as toilet center of house, missing corners etc. Pool facing units though good, but take note that it can also be noisy and sometimes may lack some privacy. Otherwise, frankly, quite difficult to advise unless you actually review the unit in detail. Hope that helps. Warmes…

Dear Anon, As you have asked three questions that seems like superimposing the Four Symbolic Animal literally inside a home, generally, this is considered a `flawed' and is akin to practising Feng Shui the BTB way or commonly recommened by some book authors without due regard to proper Traditional Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joe, For next year, the Grand Duke will be located at 112.5 degrees (at Lesser South East position)which is the year of the `Dragon'. Please note that the `new' position of the Grand Duke for next year is between 5 Feb 2000 to 23 Jan 2001 and not 1 Jan 2000. Please see below:- Where possible if your kitchen is located in the East, avoid renovating at the location until after 4 February 2000. For a Chinese, it is advisable not to renovate 15 days starting from 5 Feb 2000 as this is considered the Lunar New Year. This is not `ideal' even if it is attached to a wall. Where possible, the stove needs a supporting wall. It should where possible not be at the "…

Dear Ritter, `Fixed' template or Feng Shui based on Eight Associations or Life Associations on its own is considered too general to be of specific use. Concepts where one must leave the Romance corner "alone" and enhanced is in my opinion like kindergarden teaching in Feng Shui. What happens if SW is the toilet? Does it mean that one must place flowers on the toilet bowl cover and each time when we use it, remove the flowers. Worse still, can we never have romance since SW is in the toilet? The relation flushed into the toilet each time we have one? In my opinion, the above " concept " does not take into account or personalised to an individual. What happens if everyone s…

Dear Master Lee, I understand that the basic of determining the feng shui of a residential house is to first determine the facing direction of the house. However, i have trouble to determine the house as attached below. Should the facing based on the main entrance or where the river and public road locate. Appreciate much your kind advice. Thank you.

Dear Anon, 1. Before the `globalisation' of Feng Shui, Hong Kong Feng Shui Masters tend to advise on the use of fish tanks to neutralise Sha Qi. For example, if there there is a lone lamp post outside the window, they would advise their clients to place a fish tank (in a broad sense, water element) to neutralise the lone lamp post. 2. Taiwan Feng Shui Masters usually advise the use of plants. So in the `past', the advice coming from a FS Master from Taiwan would be `different' from Hong Kong. If you were to ask a FS Master from Taiwan, your answer would be `Yes' it is ok to place plants in the home. 3. Like taking food, it is best to moderate and not over eat. You have …

These are some of the considerations: 1. Fixed template vs Flying star Feng Shui Flying Star Feng Shui belongs to the Compass School and each home can be classifed as belonging to one of the 15 mountains of which, there is a flying star chart based on each home layout plan. If you are referring to those western based Feng Shui where they have a Ba gua map in a fixed format; for example: North = career etc... then all Traditional Geomancy or Feng Shui school don't use such things. Kavita E. wrote: Hello Sir: I understand that a BAGUA MAP can be used for a house and even individually for any room in the house - please correct if I have got this wrong. However, if one …

Dear Sherry, Sherry Shao-To wrote: A couple of years ago we heard some strange noises on the top of our roof above our master bedroom. At first we thought it could be mice, but realized they were birds. We figured they had built a nest up there and my husband wanted to get rid of it. Well, it's a two story house and even with a 10 ft. ladder, the roof was far from reach. Therefore, we just ignored it and eventually it went away. Well, this year the birds came back and made their home at the exact same placeon our roof above the master bedroom again. I can't see them because it's so high.So I'm curious does it have a meaning and are these birds good lu…

These are some of the considerations:- 1. Based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, your bed layout is in-line with the shape of the interior in relation to the walls, bed-head area; windows and main door. Thus this is generally a good layout plan. 2. At 5th storeys high there is no major concern of sha qi from the physical point of view. At ground floor; the concern has more to do with "wandering vehicles" i.e. vehicles that could "slam" into the buidling e.g. road accident or high speed out of control vehicles. 3. Thus, strictly from the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, a gentle curved window seems "majestic" and makes the entire home bright from both sides i.e. large facing d…

Dear Bek, If the beams are made of wood, the next best alternative is to use `metal' element to `destroy' or `neutralise' the wooden beam. The best in such for a situation is to:- 1. use 6 coins tied together and hang on each beam. Alternatively, you can use silver foil e.g. as those used for cooking. In such a situation, use circular pieces x 6 pieces or cut them into stars x 6 pieces and place it on the beam. 2. the next best method is to hang two bamboo flutes on the beam. If this is not practical, then go for alternative 1. Warmest Regards, Cecil
