1. Usually it is best not to place a clock above an entrance of a passageway. Anonymous wrote: I have placed an electric round clock on top of the kitchen entrance 3. Frankly, this has more to do with commonsense. In the unlikely event that the clock should fall down; some say it can hit the head of someone walking out of the kitchen entrance. Or when a clock drops to the floor; shards of glass / splinters may be around and someone may get cut by such broken glass. Anonymous wrote: also the same kind of clock on top ofthe home office entrance (facing the home office). A friend came to my home and told me I should not do that, Ishould put the clock on the wall besides t…

Dear Elkay, 1. I have `cut-paste' this message which was a recent reply under the forum topic: " Feng Shui for Business ". 2. Feng Shui cannot be seen as a `cure all'. If there are better `tools' or `concepts' e.g. methology in teaching, this would prevail over the use of "Feng Shui". And even give a quantum leap, where Feng Shui cannot fully achieve. It is the same as using specialised tool for a specific activity. For example, if we want to cut an apple in half, we use a knife instead of using another tool such as a screw driver or even a scissor to cut the apple. Thus, using the right tool for the right occassion is a much sensible idea than just simply using the wrong…

Dear Simon, Simon Lau wrote: Want to seek your opinion whether I could follow what this webpage has advised on how I could improve my luck, fortune, etc As mentioned time and time again, true feng shui does not really require the use of any feng shui items or products. This is done by knowing your element and relating it to the various five element relationship as shown in this link:- URL: http://talk.geomancy.net The other, is ensure that you get a house with good feng shui luck and ensure that it is suit…

1. Some of the considerations when buying a landed property be it already built or going to be re-built share common considerations:- http://wiki.geomancy.net/wiki/Want_to_build_your_dream_home%3F 2. Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui:- 2.1 Majority of home should have "clear space" at the "frontage" to allow qi to "collect": this could be the garden of the home etc... 2.2 If a tall condo "blocks" your view or if your new home is within "prying" eyes of the units of the condo facing your home... many feel that it is no longer "privacy" for the home. 3. Under Flying Star, one would like to tap the Water star #8 and Mountain star #8 if it happens to be at the frontage or…

Dear Cecil, WOW, i'm very impressed by yourpractical approach, patience and response. ;-)Regreted for not knowing your service earlier. ;-( Being so generous to our queries (which you are not obliged to reply, in fact), i'm very sure that you can give very detailed info to engaged services, as compared to the FS service i'd previously engaged (he just gave me some sketch on my floor plan). Now i understand that there is no "easyrectification" to my main door/ Qi issue: Proposal 1: a sizable space need to be "set aside" between the partition and main door. ;-( Proposal 2: dining tableat A may make the walk way "less friendly", as i plan to buy a 6-seater dining table. ;…

Dear Chong Boon Soon, Chong Boon Soon wrote: What is youradvise ifa house has a period 8 setting (which is good for 20 years beginning 2004) but also has a unfavourable influences such as facing T or Y? External Shapes and Form influence will always have more impact to an home compared to flying star or eight house influence. A house with good external shapes and form feng shui is a house is the key to enjoying a quantum leap in feng shui. That is why we keep stressing that a good house begins from the external environment. A house with good flying star feng shui only deals with luck within the four walls of your home. No matter how much you enjoy the luck, the luck …

Dear Nancy, Nancy Liu wrote: Originally, my engagment is on May12'06 and my wedding is on May14'06. However all the hotels are fully booked. I guess these dates must be very auspicious. This time the dates are on weekday and I think I won't have any problem booking the hotels but not sure whether it's a good date or not. Please advice whether the new dates are ok or not. Both of us are born in the year of Tiger. To be frankly, I really don't like to post or answer questions relating to wedding dates for a simply reason. Each person is realy unique so it is very hard to tell you for sure if a date is…

Hi Adeline, Glad that you enjoyed our website. Firstly, this year is a Metal Rooster in a Wood Year. So the main influence is the Wood year influence. The element that your self element (Strong metal) destroys is your wealth. ie Metal destroy Wood, thus Wood is your wealth element. Given you are a Strong Metal, you will be able to benefit from this year. So it becomes auspicious for you. As a Strong metal, water helps to exhaust your excess Metal, while Fire also destroy your metal to reduce the excess Metal. So Water, Wood & Fire are all favourable for you. So this year will automatically be a good year for you. So if you plan to do anything important this would…

Dear Miss Quiss, This year, it is advisable not to renovate at South South East or 150 degrees (Tai Su) and the location in conflict i.e. East ... If you are doing renovation at the area, it is best to avoid, being around when the work is carried out at the East. The above is just consideration. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jacqueline, Usually, if you can obtain, a natural dried out bottle gourd i.e. brown in colour. Is it possible to obtain this type of bottle gourd. Try to find the above first before, using others such as jade or silver - if possible. Although, this two type can be used. Between this two (jade or silver) `metal' silver is preferred over jade. Warmest Regards, Cecil

When applying the Compass School of Feng Shui or taking reference of each direction; one should locate the center-of-gravity of the home. From this centrepoint, locate the west compass direction (270 degrees). This will be the direction of The Grand Duke/Tai Sui of a site or home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master Cecil, Can I ask you some questions regarding the issues of Grand Duke position and Conflict sector? I am slightly puzzled about these two points. The Grand Duke is in the Northeast in 2010 Tiger Year, so does it mean we should avoid renovating this sector in the house or opposite it which is Southwest? Which sector is the no-no, Northeast or Southwest? The Conflict sector is in the North. So which sector of the house is not advisable for renovations, the North sector itself or the South which is opposite North? Thanks a lot

Regarding this Analysis of the Grand Duke 2001 by Zheng Dan. Most of the analysis are correct as he as based it on the Ba Zi Feng Shui concepts of the clashes / Harms / Punishments which occurs between each of the 12 animal signs. This is just another good example of how powerful Ba Zi Feng Shui can be. Usually, any clash / harms / punishments will often result in some problem unless of course there are sometimes "good clashes" / "good harms" / "good punishments". Though often, most of the clashes are usually bad unless they help to reduce the unfavourable elements. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

1. Frankly, the Grand Duke concept should not be treated as "rocket science". 2. It has more to do with:- 2.1. Disturbing the Grand Duke i.e. such as re-painting walls or demolishing walls or renovation of floor tiles at NE (this year) 2.2 If one is nothing disturbing or touching Grand Duke, generally, there is no major concern. For example meditating is a peaceful activity; so where to or how to antagonise Grand Duke? Thus this is not an issue.

Dear Anon, 1. This year and next year based on the Lunar Calendar:- This year: 24 Jan 2001 to 11 Feb 2002 Next year: 12 Feb 2002 to 31 Jan 2003 We have to remember that the above dates should be considered instead of the start of each year. Thus `next year' does not start on 1 January 2002 but rather the first day of Chinese New Year or 12 February 2002. Please see below:- This year (2001 - refer to Para 1), which is the year of the Snake, the Grand Duke or Tai Su is located at South-South-East or 150 degrees. The location in conflict is the East. Next year (2002 - refer to Para 1), this is the year of the Horse. or South, 180 degrees. The location in conflic is the N…

Dear Fraser, The consensus amongst Feng Shui practioners is that there is no changes to the practise of Feng Shui in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. No one has thus far provided a valid and substantiated arguement to show that Feng Shui is practised differently in the Southern Hemisphere. Many who mentioned this may have a hidden agenda or some choose to "seek fame" in coming up with such an arguement. So far, these are not proven and majority to mentioned, I believe did not do any indept analysis. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Martha, 1. Usually, this applies to a completed house and after the owners have moved-in and stayed in the home. 2. To clarify, although North and South are recommended to be avoided; it is not that the Grand Duke is situated in the South. But rather, the Grand Duke will be situated at the North. 3. Where North = Rat animal sign which also represents the water element. Since Rat (North) and Horse (South) which is represented by Fire element are considered incompatible i.e. Water vs Fire, South is called the position of conflict with North. 4. And in this situation, it is how, was derived North (Grand Duke) and South (Position of conflict). 5. For a new home, one can…

Frankly, in my opinion, I widely consider what you mentioned under a broad term: "Occupational Hazard". For example, drawing a parallel to you. Even we geomancers also may fall into "Occupational Hazards" once in a while. Here, we would bring along our luopan. And once in a while; during our visits; meet a home that is "dirty" or "unclean" (belonging to those of the other kind). From the safety aspect; just take extra care to minimize personal exposures to risks. Otherwise: it is an occupational hazard".

Dear Cecil Thankyou for your time.. I desperately seek your help on behalf of myself, my family and my business. I live in Australia with my wife and 2 daughters (aged 6 & 9). I was born on 17th May, 1959 and am a self-employed 'Internet Business' owner.. A) Last year (Feb-June 2002), we renovated our home to build a 70 square metre 'Home Office' to enable a hopeful expansion of our business and income, which had been suffering for some 2 years whilst building our business. Only Half way through renovations we consulted our Feng Shui books and learnt of 'Grand Duke' presence in the area of the new changes.. All through the building upgrades, obstacles seemed to keep c…
