Dear William, Frankly, there is no harm in hanging a painting of guan yin facing the main door. Usually, it is hang in the living room area. Although the painting of guan yin does not have it's eyes "dotted", it is still best to avoid:- 1. letting the painting face the dining table 2. have it's back to a toilet wall or share a toilet wall 3. avoid facing into any of the bedrooms. Hi, This is a good question. In general, some of the ancient practises may not be applicable to certain countries or location. In China, e.g. in Beijing the Chinese usually have the main doors at the South cardinal point.
