Dear Anon, 1. There are some differences in opinion over this. But the differences are not on Feng Shui but rather based on `beliefs'. 2. The belief is that it is inauspicious to hang a carpet especially if it has been `used' before e.g. stepped on. 3. On the other hand, some find it acceptable to hang carpets. Especially `antique' carpets such as the Famous hand stiched Persian carpets. 4. It is my opinion, that there is really no harm to hang decorative carpets on the wall. They can be treated like any other piece of art. (Especially if they are rare pieces). Where best, if they have red background, ideally they should be hung in the living room or in a `special' room. …

Dear Anon, There are differing views on this: 1. Some FS practioners find it inauspicious to have the face of the clock face into the living room. Here, it is similar to the concept where it is advisable not to have a clock `face out' of the living room window. It is acceptable if the clock is `meant' to bounce an inauspicious poison arrow. 2. As a clock tower is a narrow tower, and if in a child's room, it is located on the right side of the window, this is considered "penmanship" peak where it is auspicious as this represents a child can become a scholar. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Bernard, Bernard Chua wrote: I am a Horse born in 29 Dec 1978. Which direction should I sit facing in a business meeting / negotiationthat is to my advantage? You can either sit facing either your best eight house or best ba zi facing direction. I would recommend you go for your ba zi direction as this is more flexible to be used anywhere (ie not in your own office), while eight house is best used for house suitability or best work direction (in your own office). If you can find a direction that is both good for your eight house and bazi, that will be the most ideal direction to face whenever you have any business meeting or negotiations. A. Dear Leigh, In my opinion, many traditional practitioners of Feng Shui strongly believe that we should not reverse the readings for the southern hemisphere. I am not going to comment on the use of the "fixed template" or the placement of a "fixed" bagua onto a layout plan as this is a modern invention. And not widely practised by Traditional School(s) of Feng Shui. The example of water draining out of the sink the opposite site which differs clockwise or anti-clockwise between the North and South hemispere is often used by those who reverse the readings. There are lots of arguments against this such as the Five Elements Concept: Metal - Water - Wood - Fire - Earth ce…

Frankly, there are quite alot of replies on the same subject: 1. Placing a mirror in the bedroom be it facing the bed and/or even not facing the bed but in many areas of the bed - have been discussed, before. 2. There are two sides of the coin; here:- 2.1. In many of the previous replies I have mentioned that some Feng Shui books highlight that when one sleeps; one's spirit wakes up; see's itself and get a shock of it's life (in the mirror). 2.2. Look at it this way, there are others who are highly tolerant of mirrors. 2.3. For example, many new homes have windows that are even at bed-level. At night many of the windows have reflective surface and they would then be "mir…

1. If they share the same wall but different level is OK. 2. Just check to make sure that especially: 2.1. The altar does not share a wall with a toilet. Do check that directly above the altar, there should not be a bed especially a women's bed. Steve L. wrote: Hi, I know it's not good for your bed head to share the same wall as your altar. But, what if the wall is separated by floor level? The altar is on first floor while the bed is on second floor... Thank You James

As mentioned in an earlier reply to one of your questions: the model that you are using originated as / from " A modern invention - invented by Lin Yun "..... All Traditional Chinese Feng Shui sites and practitioners steer clear of such "rubbish" (bull-shit) in the name of "Feng Shui"..... http://qi-whiz.com/node/35- The Confession of Lin Yun ....

1. Overall, under Period 8, the better neutral colour that you may consider is light cream or beige. 2. Under Period 7 (1984 to 2003), the best neutral colour was white. Today, 2008, the best neutral colour is as mentioned under Para 1.

1. In general, the wine industry is considered as belonging to the "Water" element. Reference: http://talk.geomancy.net 2. If you are promoting the "investment" into wines; then from your company's point of view; you should be considered as belonging to the Fire element: Marketing and Sales of wine. Especially if your company's purpose is to make a profit and in your case, you most probably, you may get a commission. 3. Although the term "investment" can be found under the Metal element, in the above link, personally, I feel this "investment" is strongly associated more with the Banking industry and meant more for the investor than the person, encouraging one to invest…

Dear Anon, In my personal opinion, tie a "red thread" has more to do with Chinese customs than the pakua mirror has to be activated with a red thread. As red symbolisies an auspicious colour. 1. When one moves into a house, some Chinese follow the tradition of wraping charcoal with a red paper to represent black gold. Red is considered auspicious. Same goes for bringing into the house a red charcoal stove to symbolise an auspicious occassion when moving into the house. 2. Chinese wedding invitation cards are always in Red especially with the Phoenix (representing Female) and Dragon (representing Male) emblem in gold. Even the double happiness sign is usually in red. 3. I …

Dear Master Cecil: I am unable to upload a sketch of the way of my house situates relative to my neighbors' houses. Let me see if I understand your message. I cannot cover all cases. I simply try to summarize what I observe on the street I live. Primarily, the street in front of a house determines the direction of the Qi comes from. Therefore, if a number of single family detached houses situated side by side facing a street: 1. The frontage of the houses that are closer to the street collect more wealth. 2. The frontage of the houses that are relatively distant from the street lose wealth to other houses. 3. The frontage of the houses that sort of tilt away from the stre…

Dear Caroline, Further to what I had mentioned:- Make sure that the corner of the pond is not aimed at "vital areas" e.g. main door entrance. In fact, in general Feng Shui, many practitioners would recommend the placement of the water feature on the (left) side of the garden. Since the right side is said to bring with it extra-marital affairs. (Where one stands inside the house looking outwards). Contrary to popular belief, it should not be placed directly in-front of the main entrance. Or blocking it. Again IN GENERAL, many FS practitioners would favour the placement of a water position (in harmony with the compass direction.) Thus, many FS practitioners favour the p…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I heard 2 different things the first one is that i have to allign the bagua to the front door. the second is that i have to use real directions (north, southwest, etc) Which one is true? Actually, when you hang a bagua, the purpose is to help deflect the Sha Qi especially cutting into your main door or frontage. So you do not just hang it there just because someone tell you it is good. So once you understand the purpose of the bagua (ie to deflect sha qi), therefore you place it at the poition to help reflect the sha qi that is affecting you. You don't just place it at the door or at a position. You place it where it helps to delect the s…

1. In my opinion, the strongest influence are "family pressures". In the past, it could be the matriarch of the family - the eldest family member e.g. the grand mother or the great grand mother who has the final say. 2. Thus if the hierachy top down says No, it means totally NO! 3. In modern times; so long as both immediate families understand - reasonable explanation; and accept it, then go ahead... with it. 4. The reason why there is no issue with marriage in most years other than preferences such as dislike of Tiger year etc... is that one should select good dates or auspicious dates. 5. Thus, look at it this year, even if we are in a Tiger year;as thereare differe…

Dear Alicia, Frankly, this aspect does not really come under Feng Shui. This is because there are a few major considerations like the price. In certain countries where FS is `believed', I have known a few cases where the agent of the owners pointed out some good Feng Shui details of the house. The buyers were `convinced' that this is relatively good house and went ahead to purchase the house. On the destiny portion, the use of Pillars of Destiny such as a favourable time to view the house etc... is sometimes used in the region where I am staying. Otherwise, it would depend on the price etc... Good Luck in the sale of your house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

1. Please note that there is a free next 30 Days auspicious dates report at this URL: http://dates.geomancy.net 2. Since the dates provided are individualised to the person; it can be used for e.g. move-in or start of renovations. 3. From the resources under this link:-http://www.geomancy.net/resources/yearly-forecast/fortunes-2010.htm Take note the following sectors:- Sickness Star this year is at North-East Misfortune/Sickness Star this year is at South-West Disputes/Quarrel Star this year is at South Education/Romance Star this year is at North Grand Duke this year is East-North-East, 60 Degree. - Avoid sitting facing the grand duke or disturbing him by hav…

If the kitchen has a window, then, you may consider especially a six hollow rod wind chime. If you really can't find a 6 hollow rod wind chime; then as a last resort, get those with hollow (rods). Your alternative of putting a clock with metal chime and pendulum is an alternative provided the pendulum is made of real metal. Nowadays, many "fake" pendulum clocks have pendulums that are made of plastic but sprayed painted in metallic colour.

Dear Lisa, Under the Eight House Theory, it is more important to consider the intangible force e.g. whether one is sleeping close to one of our auspicious sector. For example, if the sector the wife's Health sector and the husband's "Irritation", then the wife sleep closer to this intangible force shielding the husband i.e. the husband sleeps further away. Only after the above consideration than, one sleeps with the head pointed to one of our best direction. If there is no `compromise' on a good direction, then this is still acceptable. This is because if one wants to "advance further in Feng Shui" may use other Feng Shui techniques like the Flying Star and also Shapes an…

As for the sitting and having the tai sui behind you, this is more for any major events or key things in your life. So as to get the Tai Sui behind you to back you up.
