  1. Dear Kristina, 1. In my opinion, based on your initial feedback that the hous is beautiful, large and airy... you could perhaps, first apply the adage " If it ain't broken, don't fix it.". 2. Many people, actually do not need the help or `assistance' of Feng Shui to prosper or enjoy good luck. 3. This is because, majority of the time, a house with good Shapes and Forms (both external and internal of the house) provides a quantum leap in `LUCK'. 4. Feng Shui and other Chinese divinity methods is in some sense, all about increasing one's `LUCK'. 5. If one has a quantum leap i.e. excellent Shapes and Form; this is already a significant boost in LUCK. Any additional increa…

Dear Ian, Can u elaborate further as to the two doors. Are they the main entrance or two doors within a main entrance area. Usually, one will not be too concerned with the effect of the two doors unless, one is trying to determine which door to apply as the main entrance when applying the Flying Star Theory of the compass school Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  3. Dear Anon, 1. In my country, I do encounter several old houses such as bangalow houses i.e. over 100 years old that has been transformed into quad or duplex houses. 2. In one such house, it became `sunken' in relation to other developments around it i.e. new buildings next to it on higher raised ground. In this particular house (or quad-units) the house is considered `entrapped' and surrounded by taller more modern buidlings surrounding it. From my personal observations of the house, for the past 5 years: 1. The owner of one particular unit at the ground level (entrapped house) had difficulty trying to find a buyer for it. 2. Progress for the breadwinner was slow and whil…

Dear Joey, For accessing the third floor accomodation, one should take into the consideration the main door location at south-west for taking the compass reading under Flying Star analysis for the room. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kerrie, Frankly, I do not know where to begin advising you on concepts such as "fame" area. These are non-traditional FS practises. Neutral colours such as white or pastel white colours are best if one is not sure what colour to paint a wall. Alternatively, instead of speculating on what to paint the wall at the "fame" area - you could perhaps, make a choice based on your personal feelings or consulting family members on the colour. Where possible, in such an instance, do not be `taken' in by suggestions on how to `brighten' up the fame area... These are not proper FS theories ... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Diane, In general, where it concerns the compass location at north east, it is best to avoid creating or enhancing the location to become too yin. This also depends on the size of your aquarium. Where water is considered a Yin element and too much of it may not be good for this sector. However, further FS audit may be needed such as: 1. What is the lighting level (especially natural light) that goes into this room/area? More natural light -- more yang and good. 2. How large is the aquarium. 3. If a Flying Star analysis has been done; how many #numbers relate to Yin at this sector? Where possible, the Flying star #numbers at this sector should have more Yang influence…

Dear Wasis, 1. The term " Flying Star Feng Shui " and " Xuan Kong Feng Shui " is one and the same. 2. In fact, if one looks carefully at the naming convention in this forum, under the topic header "Flying Star (Xuan Kong Fei Xing)" one will come to understand that Flying Star is indeed Xuan Kong Fei Xing. 3. As money plants prefer some shade, in country which is near the equator, and subject to direct sunlight; it is very common to see money plants planted just below expressway flyovers i.e. the shaded ground. These money plants grow very well such that they look like a vast carpet `grass' covering these areas. As to whether one can plant a money plant in the soil; it can…

Dear Roasline, Here are some guidelines to the placement of an ancestor's tablet:- 1. Avoid placing it immediately facing the front entrance (main door). Here, the implication is that it is disrespectful to let an ancestor become the guardian of the house. 2. Avoid placing it facing a toilet or on the same wall as the toilet. 3. If possible, avoid placing it in the kitchen. 4. Try to find some place in the living room area. Preferably facing outwards i.e. facing an open window (if you can). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Janaki, From a Shapes and Form point of view under Feng Shui, yes, it is inauspicious to have a toilet door facing the main entrance. This is usually a fundamental flaw and difficult to correct. The only option to REDUCE the effect is to see if the toilet door can be `partitioned' away from the view of the main entrance. Try as we might, sometimes it is difficult to `cure' fundamental flaws in the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Judy, Based on Feng Shui, one has to try and protect `entrances': 1. Entrances such as the main entrance door and windows. 2. In your situation, determine whether, the broken tree stump is now a `sha qi': 2.1 Stand at the main entrance or the window(s) especially if the tree stump is tangent or `cut's across or slice thru the main entrance or a window. 2.2 If, the above is true; then, it is best to try and take immediate action as soon as possible, such as `cutting' down the rest of the tree and remove the roots. 2.3 If the tree stump does not cut thru the window or main entrance, then, you can take your time to uproot or remove the tree especially if it no longer co…

Dear Johnny, 1. If one uses a Ba Gua mirror, it should have a convex mirror at the centre (e.g. like those placed at car park blind spots. It should not be concave as this is meant to `absorb' rather than deflect. 2. For your mum's room, ideally, you could use curtains. For example, two layers of curtain i.e. day curtain and night curtain. In the day time, day curtain could be used to shield against this poison arrow. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Donna, In my opinion, when building a new home, the front door is not the only consideration. Serious consideration should also go towards the entire house taking into consideration the external environment, the site and the land. For the main door, it is best or advantages if it is an excellent location for the breadwinner. For other members of the family (even if one owns the plot of land); try to look at locations where it can be excellent or good for them especially in the bedroom area. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Johnny, Thanks for bring up this interesting question: 1. When we talk about wealth area, it is good to look at macro Feng Shui. 2. In macro Feng Shui, the traditional way is to look at a land where the dragon Qi can flow from within the land mass towards the sea. 3. For example, many Chinese cities were built where the dragon Qi flows towards the sea. 4. Such as a river, which can be considered a dragon where it flows from high above and merge with the sea. 6. This is truly considered the `wealth area' where populations, can grow and `create wealth'. 7. For Hong Kong, many buildings especially if they are at the mouth of the sea, have a clear opening to allow such a…

If you have found a `better' home, or feel that you have found a better one then your existing home. In such a situation, you can try to move residence ASAP. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Madi, In my opinion, this is a Shapes and Form weakness. Equally important, is that the property should not be `entrapped' i.e. surrounded by taller buildings on all sides and particularly where they are at higher ground. It is a site feature and very little one can do here. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jack, The best way is to get the center of the house from the layout plan. This is because sometimes when you stand in the center of the house, you might miss the center or find it virtually impossible due to a wall or pillar which prevents you from being at the center of the house. Please see Cecil's Compass method to help you determine the main door direction accurately. URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Hi, Generally, for studies usually what affects you is the location of your study location in the house and also your own "likes" and "dislikes" for certain subject. 1. Often when most people have problems concentrating or doing work, it is usually because you stay in location or working in a direction which is unsuitable for you. This is usually the case. Example you are trying to study in a room which is your five ghost or irritation. Generally, you will not feel very comfortable there. Use the Eight House report to help you determine that. 2. If the Eight House shows a good room for you to study in, then the other reason is the room itself, it may contain bad stars w…

  20. Dear Sarina, Since you are refering to the Eight Associate Directions (Wealth and Marriage Sector). This is considered a static Theory, just like some of the those based on bagua (NW=Metal etc). Usually, these are placed on the least priority to focus on when trying to create a Feng Shui friendly location. Simply because they are not personalised to anyone, so it is unlikely to be of great impact to anyone. Also, usually we are more focus to try to fix problems that exists such as Sha Qi or Poison Arrow created from sharp corners of objects in the house which cuts into a person working in that area. This means that you always try to fix problems which you can see and not …

Dear Madi, In all periods, #2 (sickness) ; #3 (Bad wood); #5 (misfortune) can be considered bad. But some FS practitioners consider the period i.e. in Period 2 (which is along long way to go); #2 may not be all that bad. Or if we are in Period 5, #5 may not be all that bad. A good example is #7. In period 7, this current period ending in year 2003, #7 is OK because #7 is associated with the Period 7 number. But, #7 if interpreted under Period 8, may not be good. For those who have houses with Double #7 at the front door, need not worry, because, if there is no major renovation done in Period 8, your house will still continue to enjoy #7 or where this house is known as a P…

In many parts of China, one can see a huge pair of lions outside the entrances of large buildings. 3. In my opinion, there is nothing really magical in them other than they give an imposing `confidence' to the building(s). 4. In Singapore, a pair of lions (large ones) are very popular also. For example, one can see a pair of lion statues outside the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Singapore. At the main entrance of Ngee Ann City (mega) city. Many temples also have the lion statues "standing guard". 5. In my opinion, kei loons are more commonly placed in homes or above the p…

Dear Tom, 1. From what I understand, rubber trees was originally imported into Singapore botanic gardens. 2. Later on, because of the significance of latex, rubber trees were grown particularly in West Malaysia where the sap is `milked' and carefully made into latex sheets. These sheets are very smelly. 3. When I was young, I remembered my grandparent (mother's side) own a rubber plantation and I particularly liked `playing' with the seeds.. where, one rubs it on a surface e.g. tile and it heats up and feels warm to the touch. 4. Dear Brenda, In my opinion, flower prints including leaves are acceptable on comforters and sheets. In fact, quite alot of bed sheets/spreads do use the flower/leaf theme. Unlike: 1. Actual plants where; when it grows, a more create yang environment. 2. Actual water, creates too yin i.e. fish tank in the bedroom or a picture of a rushing water-fall or `choppy' seas / waterfall. Warmest Regards, Cecil
