Thanks for bring this up. I guess it is the use of English. To clarify, you should first find the centre of the house. An example is shown at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm. Next, you should use an ordinary compass and stand at the centre of the house. The direction, the main door faces is the direction of the door. At a later date, I will revise the page and `correct' the English so that is is no longer ambigious. Once again, thanks for hightlighting this information. Cecil

Dear Jojo, If you want to practise 9 Star Ki, it is adviseable not to practise Feng Shui because it has its own `ruleset' and some of the key essence is the same but however, there are still some differences and if one does not know sure of the actual differences, one may end up creating problems for themselves. Basically for Feng Shui is the time for the breadwinner to enter the house is important. As for the direction, which you mentioned, in practical reality, when you travel say on the road, it is most likely that one may turn into an inauspicious direction. Therefore, this rule is not an important rule to take into account in our modern society. Lets look at it this …

Dear Vijay, Based on a simple chart, yes, North = water element. But this does not exactly or literally mean that adding water there is the best choice. You should be able to find a correct perspective, by going thru some of the most recent forum messages. Try to do a SEARCH for e.g. Water etc.. No two situations are similar. For example, try to do a SEARCH in this forum for Rivervale Crest No it does not. As you are a new member of this forum, it would be good if you do try to do some homework e.g. use the SEARCH feature to find out more of any topics you are interested in. For example search for: WATER FOUNTAIN As much as we all like to find out things f…

    1. In my opinon, what you mentioned is based on this category of Feng Shui: "Symbolism in Feng Shui'. 2. What is considered inauspicious especially when opening the main entrance door; one can see the staircase.(The main implication is that of the staircase leading DOWNWARDS). 3. Here, it implies that wealth is drained away from the main doorand due to gravity, dain downwards towards the staircase and down, down, down. 4. For this very reason, is wheremany seem to believe that it is inauspicious. 5. Of couse, one can argue that a staircase is meant for going up and down. But, the fact that it "flows" down is the mother of all greviances. 6. There is no hard or fast rule. …

  6. Dear Tomas, In general, when we first open door; symbolically we want to "deposit" wealth into the new home or apartment. Start of renovations is often done. Here, the most simple procedure is to bring a hammer or a screw driver if we do not have the hammer and before starting renovations, usually say in mandarin " To all the gods, apologies, as I or we are starting renovations on ..... such a such a date." Afterwards, just knock three times on the floor or some on the wall. Usually Hokkiens practice more "simple procedures". Many Cantonese on the other hand, have the concept of 5-ghosts or spirits i.e. spirit or god of North, South, East, Wes…

Dear Anon, `Arrows' and even forks are used not really to divert Qi but to neutralise Sha Qi. For example, if one has a circular staircases visible from the main entrance door. The ideal situation is to use a screen. But it is not possible to screen off from the rest of the house e.g. living room. Some Feng Shui practioners will use e.g. golden arrows i.e. a pair to neutralise it from (two)different locations. Forks (as in spoons and forks) can also be used for the above purpose. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  9. Hi, Golf sized crystal balls are not ideal to be used to activate the Mountain Star. Firstly, the Mountain Star should be non-moveable and I am not sure if the golf sized crystal balls have a `solid base'? The base should not move and by stringing the golf sized crystal balls, they are thus moveable. For the slanted roofs, you have to confirm:- 1. What materials are they made off? If they are wooden supports, then you have two choices:- Use Big metal as proposed by Robert to neutralise or `destroy' the Wood element. Ideally, use the ancient Chinese coins with the square holes in the middle. Here you can use red string to tie them up and stick them on the beam. (To prevent…

  12. Dear Yumeko, 1. Usually, it is advisable not to do anything prior to the `symbolic move'. 2. However, the customs differ greatly. And some may:- 2.1 Sprinkle rice and/or salt. 2.2 Some bring in a pair of mandarin oranges (where the oranges represent gold). Frankly, majority simply go in and open the door when one get's the key. As mentioned, if one wants to do a `ritual' or first time opening of the door, one can do nothing or any of the above or more. In my opinion besides rice and/or salt; there are too many variations e.g. placement of Red Packets (ang pow); purchase of `Huat Quay' Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Nansi, The key to understanding this is based on the following:- Grand Duke does not like to be:- 1. Disturbed. Here one should not do construction work at the location. This includes repairs and renovations. 2. Touched. Here, this would imply that painting is consider `touching' him. So, based on the second point, please don't paint the walls on the East. As you have determined the centre of the room, all you need to do is to note the North to South alignment of the house. 2. Here, if you have the Eight House Template Superimpose it on the layout plan. There are lots of examples of how the Eight House Template is superimposed on the layout of your house at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house2.htm I suggest you go through this module or http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm first. 3. Dear Bill, If your local book store does not have the books, you can order it from Amazon.com. (Alternatively you should be able to purchase it from other major cyberbook stores e.g. Barnesandnobles.com. Books by Raymond Lo:- 1. Feng-shui and Destiny by Raymond Lo. I think this is one of his first books. I call it a "classic book" because it is clearly written and in general gives you a basic understanding of all well known Compass School methods of Feng Shui. Such as the Eight House Theory, a short write-up of Pilalrs of Destiny and a " dab " of the use of Flying Star Theory and the use of the three coin method in I-Ching divinity. Other of his books 2. 22. Ok, I divided the two shapes into two rectangles, the other one being the bedroom. Doing this, the southwest corner of the main room becomes the bathroom and the southwest corner of the bedroom is a built-in closet. That doesn't help my marriage prospects because then I flush my prospects away and I keep far too many memories. How do I enhance the relationships area of my life given these two placements? I was born in 65 so my auspicious directions are NE, NW, SW and W. I am also thinking of moving the mirror to the dining room. Would that be ok? I really appreciate the help you've given me. Gloria

Note: Yes, Spencer; please do use the 8 sector measurement for Yang (for the living). As mentioned earlier, this has been used as early as the Sung Imperial carpenters to built furniture/doors etc... for their emperors. Cecil Hi Cecil Thank you so much for a very informative session. I have came across two other writers who mentioned that the 8 sectors measurement being used for all measurements. Nothing was distinguished between Yin and Yang measurements or 8 or 10 sector measurements. So that makes 3 of you. Then i came to another writer who stated that the 8 sectors are meant for external measurements such as fences, gates (not tombs). And the 10 sector measurements a…
