Dear Soon Hoe, Yes, in my opinion, it is best not to place a painting with many birds facing the dining table. This is symbollic of too many mouths to feed. Even if they are cranes. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Ian, Can u elaborate further as to the two doors. Are they the main entrance or two doors within a main entrance area. Usually, one will not be too concerned with the effect of the two doors unless, one is trying to determine which door to apply as the main entrance when applying the Flying Star Theory of the compass school Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Further to what was mentioned earlier, it is common for many Chinese to find a Geomancer after the birth of their child. The geomancer looks at the child's Pillars of Destiny. In a very simple example, the child's pillars lack fire element, his can be added with the phonetic sound of `fire'. As each Chinese character can be classified under each of the Five elements, e.g. the strokes of the name is counted which is considered Yin or Yang such as even or odd strokes plus looking at the phonetic sound. I brought up an example a short article: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/names.htm where, my grandfather consulted a geomancy and my elder brother was given a name wi…

Note: For those who are not aware, " wu kwei " means Five Ghosts Dear Leslie, The Eight House Theory with the four auspicious and four inauspicious intangible forces is meant only for finding a suitable house, facing direction and sleeping direction. It can tell whether the location is auspicious and inauspicious but cannot be used for `fine tuning' as it is not directly `linked' to the five elements concept. Other Feng Shui theories like the Flying Star, Pillars of Destiny takes into account the five elements concept and thus these are used instead to check for a balance or if there is an imbalance of the five elements at a specific location, one can `correct' this. M…

Dear Anon, 1. As the saying goes Many roads lead to Rome. 2. Similarly there are different methods of taking compass directions. If followed closely will come to the same results. For those who know how to use the Luo Pan to take readings, then that is fine i.e. learned from a proper source. 3. I always believe that one must follow a method `totally'. It is best to avoid `reading' between the lines i.e. hear of one method, read it half-way and continue with another method. 4. The method proposed in this site is listed under: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm The above method is soley based on using an ordinary compass. Let's not mix an apple and an orange and c…

These are some of my opinions: 1. In my opinion, the greatest key success factor of activating a mountain is if invariably there is open space and perhaps a window or two or if it is a landed property the dining area opens to an (open) court yard. 1.1. Here, it is akin to e.g. the highest form of "pure luck". Be it a mountain or water wealth star. 1.2. Thus, if there is an opening of sorts like a window or an open court-yard, this is far better than anything else to enhance wealth position. 1.3 And if we do spent time at this area e.g. dining area with say an opening; then we are talking about achieving high marks in improving one's luck. 2. Thus, we are talking of very …

Dear Anon, Ideally, it is best to look at the layout chart i.e. if the outside wall is parallel to the inside wall and on the same `line' or sector, it is better to place it at the outside wall. But if the outside wall comes close to other sectors, then it is best to place it inside the toilet. If it is placed in the toilet, check the condition of the coins regularly. Or alternatively, `seal' it in a water proof plastic. Warmest Regards, Cecil

In Singapore, it is very common to find many shops selling "ancient-Chinese coins". But do take note that these are often imitation coins. And in-fact, imitation coins are good enough to be used. This is because a real geniune ancient Chinese coin can costs as much as S$25 or USD$13 each. In Singapore, I believe, the last time I was around this area; one can get the coins for as little as 50 cents to S$1 at the Bencoolen Building:- http://www.streetdirectory.com.sg/map.jsp?masterID=29016&postal=187951&building_name=&road_name=WATERLOO%20STREET&house_blk_no=42&heading=&&x=30231.36&y=31582.97&level=7&iconlist=star,30231.36,31582…

Dear Vijay, 1. It is best to apply a "pie chart" method instead of using a 9 x 9 grid in such a situation. 2. There are two types of Flying Star for the home/office:- 2.1 Horizontal Flying Star Feng Shui This is the common or regular 20 Year, Yearly, Monthly Flying Star Feng Shui based on the Luo Shu grid. Since it is applies to horizontal analysis, I have mentioned that if one wants to look at the external perimeter; than locate the centrepoint of the location. And by using the pie, one can either concentrate the pie sectors - to within the interior of the home/office or extend it out (i.e. literally continue to extend/draw the lines out.) 2.2 Vertical Flying Star Feng …

These are the considerations: 1. Parents particulars are optional. It would be nice-to have their timing but for parents the date of birth are good enough. (One way to look at it is that "we are not marrying the bride's parents nor our own parents). 2. For girlfriend; it is nice to have the time of birth. But there are many who may not have the time of birth. 3. More importantly, the auspicious dates (and time) takes into consideration both bride and bridgegroom's birth dates (and if possible timing). 4. The timing would not change the auspicious day. Thus, later if she managed to find her time of birth; then it would not normally change the selected auspicious day(s). 5…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My son is not doing as he should in school. he is in 11th std.How do i improve his scholastic performance I personally, think that you are setting too high a standard. I won't call 11th student being that bad as compared to last in the class or entire school. However, in terms of feng shui the few things you can do to improve his study are basically:- 1. Try to ensure that he is sitting facing his best direction (ie. Excellent or Prosperity direction). You can make use of this Eight House direction report:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/reports/free-report/freerpt-8h.htm 2. Also, you must take note of where is the direction of the Sun whi…

Dear Tammie, Under the Eight House Theory, the critical situation is that other than the main entrance i.e. Is this house suitable to the breadwinner; one must spent time at a specific sector. For example, it is not possible to spent `quality time' or literally spent time there as much as we want to. This theory therefore has it's limitations in that if it happens to be one's personal good sectors e.g. toilet(s), kitchen, and if one cannot spent time there then, one cannot do much more -- to enhance that sector. This theory, therefore is about good sectors -- e.g. to spent time at. And if one can't -- no remedy. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kamini 1. In my opinion, many of us are led wrongly to believe that our romance sector is at the South-West. 2. In fact, many book authors and those who sell things to enhance that sector are infact the only ones " Laughing to the Bank ". 3. It is certainly sad to see this situation. 4 Let us look at an illustration:- 4.1 Let's say if three of us are young bachelor males working in any office. There is a new lady colleague who has just joined us. 4.2 One of us would place a mandarin duck in the South-West sector. For me, I may have palced 12 roses at South-West sector. 4.3 The third male colleague, who knew of what three of us are doing; try to out bid the two of …

Dear Suzhen, Apologise for the delay in reply. Currently I am unable to do any more house audits for the time being because of my schedule and projects for the website. Perhaps, you may want to get assistance from other Feng Shui Practioners in Singapore. Due to my tight schedule, I am unable to provide assistance in your case or go thru them in detail. What you have analysed using the Eight House Theory is not enough to find out your various `problems'. This is because the Eight House Theory is not a `diagnostic' tool of Feng Shui. More refined tools that can aid a better understanding or improve your situation includes the anaysis of your house using the Flying Star and…

Dear Cynthia, In Feng Shui:- 1. Flying Star analysis Usually, if one falls sick often in a new house, assessment using Flying Star to check especially the sickness/misfortune sectors can help in this area. 2. Shapes and Form Check especially if there any poison arrows aimed at the bed? or through the bedroom window. Is the bed placed on the same wall as the toilet? 3. If you live in a landed property, is there any underground water running under the house close to the bedroom? http://www.geomancy.net/fs/under.htm (Under para 3, this is usually due to prolonged stay in such a house. The above are the three key tools used for checking on sickness. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Frankly, it is strongly recommended that one does not apply "Fast Food Feng Shui!" Quote: Anonymous wrote: I have been unfortunate in the romance and love area for a few years now. I am wondering what are some of the best feng shui colours, object placements, etc would be for the bedroom. Or if there are particular things or colours I should be wearing. I've heard placing lots of pinks/reds/purples (colours of romance) and items in pairs in the bedroom would help. Looking at the above, I am pretty worried that you may not be able to (on your own) given that you are trying to apply some sort of Feng Shui. Often, such Feng Shui is akin to a dog circling itself trying…

Dear Kris, 1. If you do know how to use the flying star report, you could generate the report for your house and see if there are any inauspicious (in particular star 5 or star 2 or combination of 5 with 9). Especially, in location where he frequently spends time at. On the feng shui point of view this is usually the issues causing it. 2. However, more often in rented place, issues like dirty aircon or dust mites especially if it is fully carpeted house are common issues. 3. From a non feng shui point of view. You may seriously look at investing in like air cleaner cum ionizer and/or the use of HEPA vaccum cleaners. Alternatively, if there are blinds or curtains in the ho…

1. Typically, it is advisable to keep the garage separate from the main living space, but this decision ultimately hinges on the overall layout of the house. In certain cases, integrating the garage with the home may be unavoidable. 2. In general, the devil's gate concept can be linked to the Flying Star theory. If the northeast sector exhibits predominantly "yin" Flying Star numbers, then this could raise some red flags. Otherwise, it is usually not a significant concern. +++ In Summary " The inclusion of the garage in a home's Feng Shui considerations depends on the overall energy balance of the property. Additionally, the alignment of devil's gate w…

And may I know is microwave oven &toaster ovena fire element? Lastly, what element isthe electric kettle? water or fire? Thank you so much!
