In my opinion, one can or may use a combination of : 1. Virtual water + activity: 1.1 Since this is the living room area; and if there are pocket(s) of opening e.g. When at home, try to see if it is possible to have such openings. For example, if the main door has an extra grille gate; can lick it and open the main door partially. 1.2 Continue to have activity at the living room area. 2. The most common advice is that of placing a water feature to activate the #8. Since this is the living room, it is/may be possible this year. 2.1. You have to make extra effort to properly understand the Five element concept. As other than the base star; water is good to reduce or negate …

Dear Anon, In my opinion, these two I believe are separate issues. If one believes that there is `tree enegry' than it should be tree energy outside. It should be able to `extend' into the house like that. But high lamps, the higher they are when turned on is regarded as lighting or light energy. As we have read in the forum, lighting is one of the other common Feng Shui `tools' frequently used by Geomancers. To many Geomancers, pictures are also considered `enhancers'. But it is difficult to say how effective they. Usually, the recommendation is something pleasing to the eye. This is quite subjective so, here we treat it of secondary importance (for the moment). The ot…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Hi all Recently i came upon an article that saying it's better to get FS products from reputable fs sellers that make sure the products is cleansed properly before they sell to make sure there's no bad "history" on the products that can bring harm to the owner. My questions, if anyone can help to answer: 1. Is this true? 2. With many FS sellers in the market, how do we know which one has the proper products and process for cleansing (do they have any standardize certificate?) 3. What is the process to do our own cleansing to remove bad energy / history on the items to prevent harm in the case that we receiving the items as a gift and we not su…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, one should not consider predecessor luck in Feng Shui. In the earlier message, what I mentioned was that Chinese do pay emphasis on where their forefathers are buried. But it is not correct to say that inheritance or holding back a home which once brought us luck is `predecessor'. I have also reinforced the notion that Feng Shui influence cannot be by `remote control'. If one manages to keep the previous house that brings one luck, most likely, the current house that one is staying is equally luckly to `allow' the owner to keep the previous house. One has to stay at the house to `enjoy' the luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Knight Elliott, Regarding the toilet in the center, unfortunately, there isn't much you can do unless you can move the toilet position to another location. The only thing you can do is keep the toilet door close and toilet seat cover down when not in use. Try to fix up other areas in your home that is fixable to increase luck from other areas so as to compensate for this flaw. Probably the corner from the wall would be the thing you should worry more. It is hard for me to tell you how you can block it, some suggestions would be if you can have some form of partition blocking the qi shi at the main door or some plants at the corner to break the shape of the poison a…

Dear Vanessa Pruett, Vanessa Pruett wrote: My fiancee and I have moved in together and we are trying to Feng Shui our home correctly using the eight house method. The problem is this...He is a Kua 2, I am a Kua 4 and my daughter is a Kua 5 female. What do we do? How do we find a common ground so that we can find balance and harmony for everyone? The Eight House is used for suitability analysis. Since each person have different suitability. So what we normally do is follow these steps:- 1. For breadwinner (usually your husband), as long as the house faces his good direction, the house is deemed suitable for him. Also, because he is the breadwinner, the rest of the family…

Dear Anon, It is good that the house is rectangular in shape. Please see below:- In addition, this home suits more of a West group person. However, from a Shapes and Forms Feng Shui point of view, it is acceptable as most of the side of the home will not be afftected by any afternoon sun.

it does not effect your wealth if your washing area or your kicthen area faces your main door, please check your flying star of that area , you can put a screen between your main door and the kicthen.

Dear Larissa, I reproduce a previous message posted in this forum. I reproduce the whole text. So that you can find that the user had mentioned that she had being using a water bed for a long time and had no adverse effects to her. Here goes.... Dear Jane, Most users are aware to avoid digging up the earth especially at the East. This is based on the " Tai Su " or Grand Duke Theory. Grand Duke actually refers to the `gravitational pull' of the largest planet circing the Sun i.e. Jupiter. Did you dig earth at the East side of the house. if so, one way to neutralise this is to use `metal'. For example, if it is possible place the car between the digging and the house. For w…

Dear Kaushal, Yes, overall, the description you provided is certainly not a good `Shapes and Form' position. Usually, if the bed is next to the bedroom door, the best `defense' is to have a reading or side table. A lamp is placed on it. The above is symbolic of having a `partition' between the bed and the toilet door. In your present description, usually, a `low linen' cabinet is placed between the end of the bed and the bathroom door. But I am not sure if this is feasible. But this is one remedy. Closing the toilet door, may not work but it should be closed. Other than this, check for #2 (sickness) and #5 (misfortune) in the bedroom. Usually if it is not `Shapes and Form…

Dear Nina, In my opinion, I would classify this type of question into two categories:- 1. Potential Sha Qi or poison arrow and/or 2. Commonsense approach. Under Para 1, above, a tree may become a poison arrow if it ends up with a thin tall tree trunk. And if one stands at the window (even) of a low rise house; should this thin trunk (or pole like) object slice thru the window, it then becomes a potential Sha Qi or poison arrows. Under Para 2, it shares a common situation e.g. like a bedroom above a kitchen. Where in some situations, fire is more likely to break out in a kitchen. Therefore, a common sense approach. Or it is not good to have a toilet or sewerage pipes abov…

Dear Anon, A picture on such situations would be nice. In general, this is not an ideal situation if the door is right `next' to the main entrance. Another way to look at is whether the frontage can still receive sufficient lighting or is there a constant shadow over the main entrance. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Annie, Here are the considerations:- 1. Since you have not mentioned where is the front door, avoid placing the fountain at the right side of the door. I.e if you are standing at the main door and facing out of the house, the fountain should not be on the right side of the house. Usually, the result is `wandering eyes' or illicit affairs e.g. of the husband. 2. If the fountain is small or tiny, its effect is minimal. 3. Can you elaborate about the lamp post? If it can be seen from the window (or tangent or perpendicular to it); this is a poision arrow. To neutralise this, perhaps you can check out the conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures); Subject: What…

Dear Keo Keo, There are two `levels' of analysis when using Chinese `tools':- 1. The most common is where we browse through any Chinese Astrology books, one will find that each of us as you mentioned were born in a particular year such as the year of the snake. And this zodiac sign is looked at in terms of compatiblity with loved ones. In fact, most Chinese Zodiac books will be similiar to the evaluation for eg. in the web such as www.lovesigns.net. 2. Overall, under Para 1, we are looking generally at a person's trait based on his year of birth only. 3. In more advanced Chinese Astrology or using a similar method such as Pillars of Destiny; the Year, Month, Day, Hour an…

Dear Anon, Generally, grand duke does not affect a person much unless you refer to renovation work that happen in that sector direction. For bed or sleeping position, priority goes to the shapes and form placement of the bed within the room itself. Followed by, if possible best sleeping direction. Since grand duke isn't so much to worry in this case, thus you can choose to sleep with your head facing East. Please note that as mentioned you should also consider other factors such as the shapes and form of the bed. Hope that helps. Dear Peck Wun, Yes, it is preferred that an altar does not face the main entrance. Here, it is considered disrespectful as you are asking guan yin to guard your door for you. If you can, (if possible) although the altar can be located facing the main door, where possible, try to see if guan yin be facing towards a wall instead of directly, facing the main door. Avoid, tilting guan yin but as mentioned above, see if you can allow her to face e.g the wall next to the main entrance. Or alternatively, change the location (if possible) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Gail, 1. Yes, it is considered inauspicious to have the front door open to steps. 2. If there is some distance between the two; then a divider or a screen could be used to neutralise this or (I am not sure how `ugly' a curtain or beads look) but the concept here is: `if it cannot be seen (stairs) it no longer poses a threat'. 3. In addition, take sometime to look out of the front door and windows to look out for any `poison arrows'. Here poison arrows usually refer to pointed objects or an edge of a building pointed towards the front door or windows. Or it could be a lone lamp post `slicing' thru the window or door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Further to what I had mentioned, what was mentioned below, is considered a modern invention. And have very low success rate. 2. Drawing a parallel, locally in my country, a typical low success rate has the following characteristics:- 2.1 The breadwinner has been staying in the same house for more than 3 or more years. 2.2 This typical house often: has a figurine of a laughing buddha and or a three-legged toad. 2.3 The owner is often a Chinese educated person. (Often stay in a 3 or 4 room government housing board flat). 2.4 Often, believes wholeheartedly of a wealth corner. And, if need be, would often place a ba gua mirror at the main door. Often, many of su…

Dear Anon, A. In addition to Para 8, please see below:- 8) In addition, at the KITCHEN, place FA GAO x1 and ORANGES x3 on the stove. - with an ang pow with 20cents or 2 dollars or even number notes/coins will do. - Do not sweep the floor on the three days of placement. For example, if placed on Saturday, only sweep the floor after Monday i.e. from next Tuesday onwards ONLY. - After this date, all the ang pow money can be used to purchase sweets or sweet-drinks for own family consumption. B. In many instances - for homes especially many Housing Board flats that come "bare" without living room floor tiles done; i.e. only cement screeding; most likely after three days, o…
