Dear Annie, Here are the considerations:- 1. Since you have not mentioned where is the front door, avoid placing the fountain at the right side of the door. I.e if you are standing at the main door and facing out of the house, the fountain should not be on the right side of the house. Usually, the result is `wandering eyes' or illicit affairs e.g. of the husband. 2. If the fountain is small or tiny, its effect is minimal. 3. Can you elaborate about the lamp post? If it can be seen from the window (or tangent or perpendicular to it); this is a poision arrow. To neutralise this, perhaps you can check out the conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures); Subject: What…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, one should not consider predecessor luck in Feng Shui. In the earlier message, what I mentioned was that Chinese do pay emphasis on where their forefathers are buried. But it is not correct to say that inheritance or holding back a home which once brought us luck is `predecessor'. I have also reinforced the notion that Feng Shui influence cannot be by `remote control'. If one manages to keep the previous house that brings one luck, most likely, the current house that one is staying is equally luckly to `allow' the owner to keep the previous house. One has to stay at the house to `enjoy' the luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil

The problem is this...He is a Kua 2, I am a Kua 4 and my daughter is a Kua 5 female. What do we do? How do we find a common ground so that we can find balance and harmony for everyone? The Eight House is used for suitability analysis. Since each person have different suitability. So what we normally do is follow these steps:- 1. For breadwinner (usually your husband), as long as the house faces his good direction, the house is deemed suitable for him. Also, because he is the breadwinner, the rest of the family…

Dear Peck Wun, Yes, it is preferred that an altar does not face the main entrance. Here, it is considered disrespectful as you are asking guan yin to guard your door for you. If you can, (if possible) although the altar can be located facing the main door, where possible, try to see if guan yin be facing towards a wall instead of directly, facing the main door. Avoid, tilting guan yin but as mentioned above, see if you can allow her to face e.g the wall next to the main entrance. Or alternatively, change the location (if possible) Warmest Regards, Cecil

  5. Dear Anon, In my opinion, these two I believe are separate issues. If one believes that there is `tree enegry' than it should be tree energy outside. It should be able to `extend' into the house like that. But high lamps, the higher they are when turned on is regarded as lighting or light energy. As we have read in the forum, lighting is one of the other common Feng Shui `tools' frequently used by Geomancers. To many Geomancers, pictures are also considered `enhancers'. But it is difficult to say how effective they. Usually, the recommendation is something pleasing to the eye. This is quite subjective so, here we treat it of secondary importance (for the moment). The ot…

  6. Dear Anon, A picture on such situations would be nice. In general, this is not an ideal situation if the door is right `next' to the main entrance. Another way to look at is whether the frontage can still receive sufficient lighting or is there a constant shadow over the main entrance. Warmest Regards, Cecil

These are some of the considerations:- 1. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui 1.1 Try not to seat prolonged facing the "sunlight". For example, the office / room is bathed by the afternoon sun. And one's table is facing this sunlight. 1.2 Many people feel uncomfortable sitting with one's backtowards an opening e.g.the door or, doorof an attached toilet or a window. 1.3 Avoid working at a "dead corner" or a location that there is no air-flow especially if one does not turn on the fan or air-con. 1.4 Avoid seating next to or sharing the same wall as the stove or the toilet bowl wall - if possible. 2. Dear Anon, Generally, grand duke does not affect a person much unless you refer to renovation work that happen in that sector direction. For bed or sleeping position, priority goes to the shapes and form placement of the bed within the room itself. Followed by, if possible best sleeping direction. Since grand duke isn't so much to worry in this case, thus you can choose to sleep with your head facing East. Please note that as mentioned you should also consider other factors such as the shapes and form of the bed. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Frankly, when you read any Horoscope forecast, most of the time you must always remember that it is a general forecast only. Each person who creates a forecast, uses different concepts or tools available to him or her to be able to attempt to analyse the different animal signs to determine whether an animal sign is good or bad. Frankly, I can tell you that even for an Ox, there is at least 10 different kinds of Ox, so not all are good or bad. ie a weak water Ox, Strong water Ox etc. Each kind of element will have different luck for that year. That is why you see on our forecast, we attempt to give you a full breakdown of animal signs and their associated el…

    1. Most likely, you may have to do like most people do, i.e. go with your personal feelings. 2. If you want to apply proper Feng Shui to evaluate your home, then the advice for a newbie is: Rome is not built in a day, and if you want to DIY Feng Shui, then like any other subject, one must invest in time and knowledge. Alternatively, if one is impatient and need immediate answers may consider hiring a practitioner, instead.

Dear Anon, 1. If there is a straight path between the main door to the back e.g. window / balcony or door; then, it is best to use an `air-tight' screen/partition or divider. 2. The divider can be built e.g. bottom portion housing some cabinets and the top half can be e.g. a glass screen or display shelf. attached to each other, with 3. Yes, the above is acceptable, so long as it helps to divert qi or allows qi to meander around the screen into the house. Rather than directly flowing out or `leaking' out of the house. Dear Maria and all users, I would sincerely like to point out the `dangers' of Fast Food Feng Shui. I am glad that you asked the question. If one does not know the answer, it is best to check first before `implementing' self-help Feng Shui cures. As I recall, there was this Doctor, who bought books on Feng Shui. He went out to buy a foutain, started to (I believe) read chapter by chapter. At each chapter or what he thought were his element e.g. based on the year of his birth, he found that e.g. he was a Fire element person. He started to paint the main gate with a colour that he though would `enhance' him. Later on, when he used the traditional Pillars of Destiny which an…

  22. Dear Gail, 1. Yes, it is considered inauspicious to have the front door open to steps. 2. If there is some distance between the two; then a divider or a screen could be used to neutralise this or (I am not sure how `ugly' a curtain or beads look) but the concept here is: `if it cannot be seen (stairs) it no longer poses a threat'. 3. In addition, take sometime to look out of the front door and windows to look out for any `poison arrows'. Here poison arrows usually refer to pointed objects or an edge of a building pointed towards the front door or windows. Or it could be a lone lamp post `slicing' thru the window or door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Further to what I had mentioned, a more accurate description of this concept are "These people are Interior Decorators who only come in to advise after the home has been renovated. And, often wants us to depart with our hard earned money on some useless objects. With the hope that their clients will feel nice after being conned by them."
