    1. Yes, the key concept is to locate the "mouth" of a home. This mouth is considered vital as it allows qi to meander into the home. 2 A "mouth" needs to be opened, not all the time but at least, like a door or windows; need to open at least several times a day. Imagine, physically we have a mouth but never open it? Not even for food or water throughout the day? 3. You mentioned: "But these windows are never opened (due to extreme heat outside). what then?" Thus this set of windows if it is "sealed" for life does not "qualify" as the mouth of the home. 4. Your best bet is the other set of windows or the main door. But in my opinion, it looks more pronouced to use the o…

  2. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I am looking at buying a property where I can build my new home. ... Is there a way to counter the negative impact of those 3 problems, or I simply have to forget about this property? Thanks you very much for your help. I hope I can repay you one day if you are in Sydney. Since you haven't bought it, I would strong advise against purchasing it. There are quite a number of articles about such houses and the problems from it. So far, there has been no effective solutions to counter the negative impact from such underground water. So if you haven't purchase it, don't buy it. Look for other better property. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.…

Dear Donna, As `keeping' money can be diverse, you can first look at your home to neutralise imbalances based on the new compass readings first. And check if there are any mountain stars that can be activated. (Water stars can also be activated depending on the stars at the specific locations, usually in the living room, this has to be looked at further). In addition, see how suitable you are to your home e.g. by using the Eight House Theory. Further fine tuning can be done with the help of Pillars, if needed. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Greg, A warm welcome to you:) Currently, the reason why it is considered inauspicious to have a bedroom above a kitchen is more to do with `safety' than Feng Shui. The `worry' is that there is a remote chance of the kitchen catching fire as opposed to other locations. As fire `moves' upwards, most likely, the first room to be affected is the one above it. Other than the above reasoning, it is thus considered of `secondary' importance in Feng Shui. We should continue to find out the rationale for a specific reason i.e. auspicious or inauspicious as many a times, Feng Shui is based on commonsense:) More serious theories, such as Shapes and Forms and Flying Star are use…

  5. Dear Maria, 1. The Eight House Theory is but only one of the Feng Shui theories. It is meant to find how suitable one is to the house and where possible, sleep in one of a individual's good sectors. Beside this, it is good to face a good direction e.g. especially for study and work. 2. It is `not ideal' to have the above, if the house does not conform to proper Shapes and Form. For more on Shapes and Form, there are either many books around to understand the concepts or you can go thru the materials under My Resources (Resources & Articles) on this site. 3. Use the Flying Star analysis to chart out the birth chart of the house. Here, this analysis is to check for any …

Dear Ling Ling, Currently the two most common methods at looking at the number of fishes to `rear' are: Method 1: The most common method is based on general good numbers of fish i.e. fishes should be numbering e.g. 5, 6, 8. (9 is still acceptable). Method 2: The other method is based on your kua number ie. if your kua is Li or South, you should rear 9 fishes. If your Kua number is Kan (North), you should rear 1 fish, if your Kua number is Chen or East, then you should rear 3 fishes. Ideally, this is based on the breadwinner's Kua number Conclusion ========== Frankly, the easiest method is to follow ` Method 1' especially if you have a large family and especially, the fish…

Dear Nina, In my opinion, I would classify this type of question into two categories:- 1. Potential Sha Qi or poison arrow and/or 2. Commonsense approach. Under Para 1, above, a tree may become a poison arrow if it ends up with a thin tall tree trunk. And if one stands at the window (even) of a low rise house; should this thin trunk (or pole like) object slice thru the window, it then becomes a potential Sha Qi or poison arrows. Under Para 2, it shares a common situation e.g. like a bedroom above a kitchen. Where in some situations, fire is more likely to break out in a kitchen. Therefore, a common sense approach. Or it is not good to have a toilet or sewerage pipes abov…

  8. Quote: Do you still recommend living in this bedroom? It seems all the bad stars are in this bedroom. Would appreciate your help. Thanks in advance. 1. This question reminds me of the concept " We stay here, you don't". "We" meaning the owners and family members of a home. And "You"often meaning the person who gives the advice". 2. For those practising Feng Shui whether professionally or non-professionally, should give advice based on as much facts as possible. 3. For example, in the above, what happens if this is your onlyw bedroom or no matter how, a family member have to occupy this bedroom. Otherwise, end up sleeping in the living room couch or bath-tub. 4. For …

Dear Anon, Please refer to (C) Geomancy.net's Flying Star report input template. Since your house is located at 160 degrees, then select 165 degrees since your house is considered as between the compass direction 157.5 degrees to 172.4 degrees. Your main door is located at the south. If one looks carefully at the attached template, one will find that each sector is based on 15 degrees each. For example North 1 is at 345 degrees, North 2 is at 0 degrees etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Keo Keo, There are two `levels' of analysis when using Chinese `tools':- 1. The most common is where we browse through any Chinese Astrology books, one will find that each of us as you mentioned were born in a particular year such as the year of the snake. And this zodiac sign is looked at in terms of compatiblity with loved ones. In fact, most Chinese Zodiac books will be similiar to the evaluation for eg. in the web such as www.lovesigns.net. 2. Overall, under Para 1, we are looking generally at a person's trait based on his year of birth only. 3. In more advanced Chinese Astrology or using a similar method such as Pillars of Destiny; the Year, Month, Day, Hour an…

Dear Gi Soh, Gi Soh wrote: I am looking at a condo unit which is facing west and a summit. Feng Shui wise is it ok ? Generally, all west facing homes will faceafternoon sun which can make the unit warm every day. This in itself is a potential problem as if a person feels hot, the likelyhood of getting angry or even hard to focus. So even for those West group person, it is still not so advisable to choose a west facing house unless it is somehow shaded. As for facing a summit (of a hill?), if so whether or not it is good depends on where is the mountain star is located from the flying star analysis. You see a house will benefit from the facing (clear space) and moutain s…

Dear Fred, 1. It would be better if a partition (if possible) be placed between the front door and the staircase instead of a crystal. Usually, a crystal would not (in my opinion work). 2. To slow down the qi, plants could be placed at the steps of the stairs. (But preference should be given to Para 1.) 3. Based on your description, looks like the frontage of the house is the ocean view side instead of the main door side. In such a situation, it would not be ideal to place a water position on the `technical' front side of the house. 4. Usually, it is best if a physical FS audit could be done as it is difficult to advise on this on paper. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Eric, In my opinion, the Ba Gua symbol has been used on Toaist priest's clothings. Sometimes you find it on the front of their clothings and on occassions, it is on the back of their clothings. One may consider just tatooing the Yin-Yang symbol only i.e. which is found at the centre of the Ba Gua. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Rulers belong to another `school' of Feng Shui or Imperial carpentry. There are rulers for the dead (Yin) and rulers (Yang) or living. Many modern rulers or tape measures sold have both these two measurements on it. There is a sample at: www.geomancy.net/fs/ruler.htm The problem here is that if one finds in the market now, there are more than four different versions of the ruler (based on various different methods to derive the auspicious sectors on the ruler. In terms of importance, what is worse? Not to cure the imbalance or even if the measurements are not considered inauspicious? Priorty should go to curing the imbalance. Usually measurements are more cruci…

Dear Anon, Light i.e. flame is considered the fire element. Here, another more exact interpretation is that fire (flame) rises. Although lighting generate heat, it is not a `flame' where a flame can be extinguished by water. It is perfectly acceptable to have light shining to a pool of water. This is the same as natural light filtering into the fish tank. Therefore, there should not be an issue over this. When when flame touches water, then it matters. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Carina, Where possible, place plants especially on both sides of the balcony. If the plants flower this would be `great.' For cactus, you can still place them in the balcony. Although it has been frequently mentioned that it is not auspicious to do so. Do so, if you really liked them else, where possible (in my opinion) try not to `use' them if you can. For a balcony, so long as it is within the house, it can be considered in the living area especially if you have sliding doors and immediately get to see it. Frankly, placing cactus is quite a subjective issue. For some people who are not aware of Feng Shui, in my opinion, so far, I do not see any ill effects on them…

Dear Melanie, In my opinion, there is really not much one can do in such a situation. Usually, (but may not be feasible) in your case is the use of false ceiling or a poster bed with cloth covers over the top of the bed. Since this option may not be available, hanging a crystal, may make one `feel good' but thats all it can do. In traditional FS, besides this situation, one uses e.g. the Flying Star to analyse and if there are any imbalances, neutralise it to lessen any effects in the sector. 1. In general, it is not so good to have a water feature at NW sector unless one can confirm or use Flying Star Feng Shui and so happens that the water star #8 could be at this location. 2. Otherwise, it is still not the best location - based purely on very general Feng Shui (Five elements) concept.

  24. Dear Anon, Where possible, a house should not have missing corners. But there are exceptions like the shape of the top two units of the condominum. Here, the shape of two palms in gentle embrace or `receiving' position outweights any `missing' corner. If one looks carefully, the house is triangular in shape. This is not ideal but symbolism of the house and also that it has a Double 7 at the main entrance, plus the centrepoint is `clear' space works for it. Therefore, I am trying to show `exceptional' units that need not conform to the present mind set of houses that must not have missing corners. In this case, if one looks carefully at the master bedroom it is infact a pr…

Dear Ang, Please There is a report available to analyse fully on this. It is common for those using a Loupan to read using the above method. It is read by looking at the Luopan and reading the facing and sitting direction. It is best to follow the methods of each practitioner (totally). And not mix one method with another. If each practitioner's method is followed closely, it should result in the same reading. Warmest Regards, Cecil
