So far, I seldom have ever come across a house where (from the frontage) it looks unbalanced at either side unless it is a large building. If so, this should not be a factor. It is not correct to say that the tiger side gets `stronger' than the dragon side. Dear Anon, Some Feng Shui practitioners do not recommend placing a dragon image next to the main door for the following reasons: 1. It depends on the number of claws on the dragon. The most Yang is the `Emperor' Dragon which has five claws. 2. In the recent Sterling Condominum project, I have shown that there is a space between the units at the middle of the condo, before the pool where the dragon is able to move from the top or summit of the project down thru the hole. 3. A pyramid roof simply implies that the building takes on the element of Fire. A pyramid roof shows a pointed arrow upwards e.g. /\ / \ || Here symbolism is important. Dear Wilfredo, In order to confirm; if one is standing at the main entrance door and can see e.g. the tree trunk. Here, the tree trunk is said to be slicing into the main door. If so, then this is a `poison arrow' slicing into a house. This is considered a `Sha Qi' or inauspicious. And should be corrected. Dear Sunny, Yes, the staircase which is directly facing the main door is considered Sha Qi and is `bad' because, it is said to create a `disturbance' of the flow of Qi from the main entrance to the interior of the home. Hi, This is really not Feng Shui but based on " superstitious beliefs ". So far, in my personal opinion, I have on occassions also have dried flowers at home and to me, really do not pose any problems. Your second point of giving red flowers is based (I believe) on the `culture' that giving e.g. red roses represents a romantic senario. But I guess, it can equally symbolise `love' of the person or boss. It should be seen as a `gesture' and not so of bad luck. Dear Anon, Usually, the Japanese Lucky cats figurines with their hands raised on either side is often used by business, both Chinese and Japanese establishment especially food eatery. There should not be a problem displaying these `lucky' cats at home. Figurines to avoid include ferocious animals that look hungry or on the prowl. I believe some modern practitioners would say this because to them, it seems that the centre has `meaning' where e.g. the family members can gather `centrally'. 3. Dear Christina, In my opinion, based on Chinese culture, there is a wish that good numbers bring one luck. Few people relate the relate the no. of fishes to one's kua number. But rather, many people such as Chinese (Cantonese dialect) or Hong Kong people spent money on `numbers'. For example, in my part of the country, we pay bids for car numbers e.g. such single digit new car numbers such as 8 or 9. Therefore, I feel that it would be nice to have the above number of fishes. Dear Anon, In my personal opinion, tie a "red thread" has more to do with Chinese customs than the pakua mirror has to be activated with a red thread. As red symbolisies an auspicious colour. 1. When one moves into a house, some Chinese follow the tradition of wraping charcoal with a red paper to represent black gold. Red is considered auspicious. Take away bedroom doors of the master bedroom & bedroom 2 (which are accessible from the PES corridor), so that bedroom 3 will become larger? 2. Hack away the wall behind the fridge (in living room) and kitchen door so that kitchen becomes open concept? Will however put a screen such that the main door will not see the kitchen directly. In the above situation, try to have the stove face in the house `to keep the warm' in. Yes, it is not bad an idea to hang a curtain cloth here. As Qi can still move in and out but slowed down.
