  2. Dear Judith, 1. It would be best to see what type of dragon design is on the calendar. 2. If it is a simple cartoon dragon with body `flying' around, there is no issue. 3. If it is a fierce looking dragon especially with 5 claws, it is best that the room has at least a window. Avoid placing it in a room without any windows. Overall, if it is just a piece of outline art with the monthly calendar superimposed on it, usually there may not be an issue here. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  3. These are some considerations: 1. Solar panels are a modern invention. 2. Thus, there are really no write-ups in the past as to whether it has positive or negative effects. 3. As many Feng Shui concepts can be looked at from a common sense approach; I tried very hard to imagine whether is there any negative effects (if any). So far there are in my opinon - none from this approach.

  4. Dear KC, Please see below:- For rearing of fishes, it would not be advisable for a person with the element " weak Fire element " as water can further extinguish a person with weak fire element. In addition, it is normally not advisable for a person with Strong water element to rear fish as it may further strengthen the strong water element. This may lead to e.g. sickness or competition at work for the party. This is OK. Other that what I mentioned earlier; you can place the fish tank next to a wall in your home. Since this is a smiling buddha, it is ok to place near the fish tank. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  5. Dear Elena, No, one of the conditions is that it must have a backing e.g. a solid wall. A moutain star cannot be activated at the centre of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  6. Dear master, My life became miserable since i have moved. Although i like the house, i think it is totally wrong regarding feng shui.I started a new real estate and architectural design business last month, and couldn't get one client yet. My relation with my partner is worse than ever.I read every single word on your site about facing directions of a house, but i am still a bit confused.I live on the 2nd floor of a 2 storey building. In this case i should take main door as the facing direction. however, there is nothing but the adjacent wall of the next house here. all the windows and the street is on the opposite side. It is very confusing. In either case, if take the…

  7. Hi Cecil, Currently the South of my house Period 8 is having the following star combination (Main door facing SE3 ) ms5, base star 3, ws 3. The recommended cure for this area is using metal to destroy the wood star 3. This year the annual wealth star 8 fly to the south sector, is it possible to tap the star 8 which is the earth star also without enhancing the ms5 ? Thnks for advicing. rgds

  8. Hello, I saw flying stars yearly forecast and know that some years will be very bad for me. What are the ways we can fight a bad year? Consult a Feng Shui master? If we buy ornaments or wear something - what do we do with that after the year has passed? Cheers! Yong Xi

Dear Jen, Frankly, if this is a small plant, and a one-off exercise, there is no issue in doing so. Unless, it is a prolonged event - which it is not. In my opinion, go ahead with it. There is one School of thought that says that one could place a metal piece or metal (object) between this area and the home.. Hmm... not necessary. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. So long as you D.I.Y. is OK:) Don't call the bulldozers in! This is really - not too good....

  14. Hi, As mentioned in a recent message, Chinese Astrology uses only the Year of birth of a person. Chinese Astrology based on just the Year of Birth although do give a general `profile' is less accurate than analysing `clashes' undertaken by the powerful Pillars of Destiny which analyses not only the year of birth but, month, day and if possible also the time element. A `small' horse figurine in the south should not pose any problem even if you are a mouse/rat unless, it is a warrior riding the horse with weapons such as a spear, or gun etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  15. Dear Anon, 1. It should not be a problem to keep an object in the garden or pond so long as it does not have an open mouth aimed towards the house. 2. An open mouth signifies, hunger. It would cause illness or problems for the household that it faces. 3. Where possible, the object should not be ambigious or unusal shape e.g. like a `monster' or other unknown figurine. 4. Otherwise, it is acceptable. Unless, it is again, the favourite of the four legged friends (who pass urine over it). Warmest Regards, Cecil

  16. For those who are not aware what `painting of eyes' look like, can click on this link: (It is based on the ceremony before the burial of a coffin). Only for those who are interested, here goes http://www.geomancy.net/slideshow/painteyes.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, This has more to do with Chinese beliefs than Feng Shui. There is therefore differences of opinion between those who choose to keep the birds caged and those who are against it. Keeping even a pair of live birds is to some Chinese, not a good thing because, it signifies cruelty i.e. akin to imprisoning the birds. The belief is that birds should be `born free'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  18. Dear Anon, 1. Before the `globalisation' of Feng Shui, Hong Kong Feng Shui Masters tend to advise on the use of fish tanks to neutralise Sha Qi. For example, if there there is a lone lamp post outside the window, they would advise their clients to place a fish tank (in a broad sense, water element) to neutralise the lone lamp post. 2. Taiwan Feng Shui Masters usually advise the use of plants. So in the `past', the advice coming from a FS Master from Taiwan would be `different' from Hong Kong. If you were to ask a FS Master from Taiwan, your answer would be `Yes' it is ok to place plants in the home. 3. Like taking food, it is best to moderate and not over eat. You have …

Dear Anon, Frankly, in my opinion, this has more to do with `safety' than Feng Shui. Usually, one would not expect a broad staircase unless it is a building or a large house where three persons or more can walk side-by-side going up or down the stairs. Imagine if the staircase is sufficient for one or one and a-half person's body width to walk thru. If the plant has extended leaves, I really cannot imagine that one will not brush against the leaves. Looking at it from a light hearted moment, imagine placing catus plants and having a pet e.g. dog or cat or the wind blowing and toppling the catus plant. What happens if a loved one accidently steps on the catcus? And get h…

Dear Sunny, I have covered the `topic' plants in an earlier message. The main consideration is if one is really a plant lover, why not have plants in the house and even outside the bathroom. Bear in mind that one should not trip over it in darkness. And if one's house is large. Plants need care e.g. water and occassional sunlight. One must be prepared to bring them out for sunlight once a while (if they need sunlight). Is just like keeping a pet. If one is a pet lover, would take great pains to look after it (with or without monetary rewards consideration). But if one places a plant in the hope that wealth is accumulated. Or neglect the plants. Is this logical? Whatever w…

Dear Anon, Usually, from what I have encountered, this should not pose a problem. Especially if one only rents a bedroom. There is not much choice here. The only thing to remember is to conceptally "departmentalise" the bedroom i.e. keep the scultures at a corner or if really no space on a display shelf or at a corner table or even share it with the study table. We have to be practical as not all situations can be overcomed... our love of the sculpture and space constraints. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  22. Dear Anon, For that matter, under Traditional Feng Shui practises, placing an altar and especially the stove are equally bad under such a situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  23. (Note: For those who have not seen a `Tiger balm' medicated oil, check out this link: http://www.tigerbalm.com ) According to the description of this external medicine, it is used for the symptomatic relief of muscular aches and pains, sprains, insect bites, itching, headache. It is gently rubbed on affected parts. It contains: mehtnol, campor, mint old, clove oil, cajuput oil and paraffin. No, there is no evidence to suggest that carrying the tiger balm is `detriment' to luck. In addition, most of the time, it is kept in the bag and I do not anyone carrying it out openly in their hands. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  24. Dear Anon, For fishes, more importantly is the number of fishes kept. Here, there are three common methods:- 1. Based on one's Gua number or or 2. The element of the breadwinner. Here each element has a number. or 3. Some prefer 8 or 9 fishes. Another important point is to avoid using pyramid shaped fish tank. Some of the koi species have red and black markings. These are acceptable. Here, one can add a few other species such as `Tancho' e.g. with a circular patch on its forehead... In my opinion, the red and black markings is no issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. It would be better if I could see a scanned image. 2. As you have described, it does not look `ideal' especially if there is a tilt. Frankly, I still not sure how much is the tilt or curve etc... Therefore, unable to give you a fuller analysis. Warmest Regards, Cecil
