    1. Most likely, you notion of Career sector is based on a "fixed template"? model? If so, this fixed template model is a modern invention. And may not be true under Traditional Feng Shui accessment. 2. Under Traditional Feng Shui, it is best not to have a giant main entrance . As for a giant doorway, generally, it should not be an issue if it is part of the living area or the passageway. 3. Again, this "knowlege sector" is not based on Authentic Traditional Feng Shui. Quote: Three stairs go up through the giantdoorwayto the other side to enter the knowledge sector 4. What you had been applying is the modern invention. Dear Josephine, 1. Presently, from my personal observations, so far, I do not recall or find anyone, who was directly affected with books facing them. 2. However, based on the concept of " If one no longer sees it, it does not become a - threat ". One option, if you still want to cover the bookself is using e.g. a cloth or something of that nature or install cabinet doors. 3. Is the pillar pointed at the bed? If the pillar is not pointed towards the bed (but parallel to it this is OK. Not much one can do otherwise (to extend the "wall" or pillar such that it no longer becomes a pointed corner). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Thanks for bring up this interesting question. I was wondering whether anyone would `spot' this and bring it up. As far, as I am aware, the most important considerations is to choose the date for the piling or symbolic start of the work. So far, I have yet to come across a single case of problems relating to offending the Grand Duke. Some may question the validity of the Grand Duke. But it is better to be on the cautious side. If one wants to ask me for the rationale why I believe that there is no problem for a new house is, if one believes in the Grand Duke Theory, the main thing that the Grand Duke has not resided in the home as yet i.e. he has not been `invi…

Dear Baerbel, You mentioned that "that long road seems to directly run into the house". Generally, do check especially if the main entrance is vulnerable or any windows that is facing the long road. As most of the time, these two areas need the most protection from "sha qi" coming from the road. In many instances, (subject to a site review) many Chinese homes do try to place a "high" wall along the outline of the perimeter of the home. Often, this is the best option. If a window or main entrance is directly facing the long road, then; you may have to consider a convex ba gua mirror placed above the window or main entrance. This is the most common approach. While foo …

Dear Gloria, 1. Does the cabinet of the TV or any other objects in your room form a sharp corner aimed at the bed? Or any beams above the bed. 2. Under Feng Shui, you can also check: 2.1 The Eight House Theory to see what are the intangible force at this sector of the room. To find out more on this theory and application: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm You can also use the computerized report at http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate the report. 2.2 The investigative method is to use the Flying Star Analysis to balance the house especially sectors that are out of balance. Most likely, there may be a sickness or misfortune star at that sector or other imbalance…

Dear anon, No this would normally be not enough to fly to the new period. If possible, once some of the tiles are removed, leave it (perhaps, use a clear plastic sheet) to cover the missing area but generally one may have to place it back around 100 days later. Usually the morepromising thing is to do a major renovation. Thus, in my opinion, it is really a waste of time and money changing the main door since the frame is not changed at all. Besides this, a celebration or inviting a lion dance etc... would help... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. If you are using the Eight House Theory, you should also look at what is the influence in your bedroom. 2. Normally, we look at the Flying Star of the house particulary, the Main entrance door and the second door to see if these are auspicious. For example, if your house is constructed within 1984 to-date, and if there happens to be a Double 7s (this may sound technical) it implies that this door at NW sector is auspicious for the main door. So one should continue to use it. 3. If you do not want to use the Flying Star, then, I still feel that as you mentioned that SE door is not convenient, you should not use this door. For the main door, at NW, you shoul…

I have no problem with the fertility of my fish. I have a problem selling them and bringing money into the house. Can feng shui help my business survive? Frankly, I think feng shui may not help you directly here. If your target market is export or wholesale, then you might have problem competiting with other bigger aquarium business who have large aquariu…

I heard people said that if it was painted in blue, it is as if we are under the water and we will have difficulty in breathing (financial stress, family problems.......eg) Generally, blue is generally water element under I-Ching concept, having water over you is like you are drowned under water. That is the general symoblic meaning. That is why for roofs of the house it is inauspicious to have blue/gray roof colour. But ultimately, whether or not the colour is good for the room also depends a lot on the flying star luck of the area. Generally, some stars benefit from havin…

Should there be a concern or issue(s); some of the standard cure(s) could be:- 2.1. Gates that perhaps have wooden planks on them such that the block the offending view from "hurting" the main door. 2.2. Tilting door. (Warning... this should be done by an FS expert). 3. Dear Rasika, 1. In my opinion, there is no easy or direct `key success' factor in selling your house by simply tying red ribbons etc... 2. Feng Shui is used often in a holistic way and there are many other factors involved e.g. such as the selling price, location, location and location. 3. (I emphaise location 3 times because, in my opinion, this is a key area). 4. If the property has good Feng Shui, one can draw attention to the buyer (provided the buyer can be convinced that it has good Feng Shui). 5. Thus, rather than find hope in Feng Shui perhaps, someone suggesting tying a huge red ribbon around the house, do we want to do it? Instead it may just `put-off' the buyer…

Dear Shinta, Often, especially if one is doing DIY Feng Shui; should if possible also draw out a Flying Star Chart of your home. The purpose is to: 1. identify areas that need or require correction(s) if any and or to 2. Enhance certain sectors. The rationale for drawing a Flying Star Chart is thus to understand what are the intangible forces at a specific sector. In most instances, there is no harm placing a set of six-coins especially if there are sectors found with #5 or #2. But may not be too good if the sector has Mountain Star #8 etc... as it may hurt this wealth sector. In addition, a bottle gourd is traditionally used also to neutralise #5 or #2. And often …

    1. The professional approach is more than the simplistic view that since the home is facing "south-east"; it DOES NOT automatically mean that the best colour(s) is GREEN (SE = wood). 2. For example, most of the professional Feng Shui practitioners apply Flying Star Feng Shui. And if a SECTOR of a home does have a #3; this represents "BAD WOOD". And anything associated with green such as GREEN colour or green plants is considered inauspicious, here. 3. Thus the notion that SE = Wood, West = Metal, North = Water is too simplistic and often unfortunately, considered as "Kindergarten Feng Shui". 4. Traditionally professional Feng Shui practitioners would first look at Para…

Dear Agnes, Although sometimes, we read that slanted roofs are "inauspicious" but frankly this is very common and in my opinion, do not pose any issue especially if they do not have large beams "falling" down on a bed or a sit. Or large beams can be seen, when we look up directly. You should, try to check out your best sleeping direction or work direction using the Eight House theory, first. Then check to see if these positions can be applied to your bedroom (in relation to the shapes and forms of the room). Under the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, try to, see if the bed / tables/chairs can be positioned "comfortably". Warmest Regards, Cecil

  22. Under the Flying Star Feng Shui, #9 represents the fire element. And fire inflames #2 (bad - weak - earth) and #5 (bad strong earth) elements. Not exactly the kind of cure one should intend to apply to these two bad earth stars. Maybe, just maybe for #3 (bad wood). In my opinion, therefore, it is not the normal convention to apply 9 coins for #2 and/or #5. However, as Flying Star analysis takes into account the 81 combinations of the Mountain and Water Stars, then in some cases, it may be used.

  23. Dear Jacqueline, Usually, if you can obtain, a natural dried out bottle gourd i.e. brown in colour. Is it possible to obtain this type of bottle gourd. Try to find the above first before, using others such as jade or silver - if possible. Although, this two type can be used. Between this two (jade or silver) `metal' silver is preferred over jade. Dear Anon, 1. Fish Tank is more of a `modern' "invention". More commonly in the past, we talk more of a pond. 2. Yes, if you have a water position, the advise is not to cover the top of the tank. As a fish tank lacks the `power' to generate a more `vibrant' Qi than say a fountain or waterfall, in my opinion, it does not matter anyway. 3. If one own a `landscaped' pond inside your house, you will notice that it is not only open, but even if you are as far away, locking the bedroom door, you may still hear the sound of water from the `artificial' waterfall. It is the sound and the open concept that is considered generating `vibrant' Qi as compared to a fish tank where the f…

Dear Ann, Thank you for bringing up the question of crystals. 1. It is thought that like mirrors, crystals may be considered as bending light or `manipulating' lighting. This is where, some advise include: If there is a stair-case landing, some FS practitioners may advise one to place a mirror at this landing. In the hope that `Qi' can flow more smoothly. 2. Unlike, `water qi' there is currently no scientific proof that light is effective. For watercourses, reference can be made to " Dangers of underground water " ref: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/under.htm Here, some scientists have found that too much negative ions in water e.g. the negative ions created by waterfalls.
