Dear Anon, It is still acceptable for the kitchen to face the bedroom door. The reason it may be considered inauspicious is that the kitchen do have utensils and metal objects such as forks, knifes etc... If one can manage to keep this properly and not in full view of the bedroom/bedroom door this is acceptable. Some Professional FS Masters even consider items such as a fork, which they consider `poision arrows'. If all these items are properly kept in cabinets or drawers, there should not be a problem. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. It is good to understand the concept behind the kitchen. In traditional Feng Shui, the kitchen plays an important part because this is a location where we are suppose to prepare our food. The main principle behind it is that we must try to keep our food warm. Thus the kitchen is suppose to keep us "warm". 2. With this understanding, we can also go further to say that the kitchen usually has both water element and fire element. 3. As water element and fire element are opposities e.g. Yin and Yang, it is best not to place the two together close-by. 4. In your situation, what is more important is the location of your kitchen. Ideally, as what you have mention…

    1. This can be "explained" from a "Commonsense Approach" to Feng Shui. 2. Why is it that many Feng Shui practitioners say that a toilet or near to a toilet is no good? In the past, many Chinese homes do not have a toilet in the home, the toilet is a distance away from the home. 3. I have mentioned this many times: 3.1 One day, while driving along a highway, there was this radio feature, where this fella, says that where-ever one place one's toothbrush in the toilet, there sure to be "germs" on it. This is especially true, if we flush the toilet (bowl) and the fine mists shoots out all over the place. 3.2 And his solution? Buy his disinfection tablets much like those…

Dear Master Cecil, I understand that the main door should be the largest door in the house. Can you help advise me as my kitchen entrance is bigger than my main door. My contractor suggested to do a 3 panel PD door, will that help? Thank you very much in advance.

mirrors opposite the stove is very dangerous as you might get hurt if the mirror is broken due to heat, the refreigerator should not be opposite the stove because of water and fire clash.please check the flying star of the kitchen, it is good to have good stars like 1, 6,8.

  10. Hello, The kitchen in my apartment is located in the South East corner. Is a cure necessary for the year 2012?. South East is Grand Duke direction for 2012. Thank you.

In my opinion, I have mentioned previously that in some instances; especially, if the toilet bowl is facing the toilet door; and for many toilet seat lids; along the perimeter; there is a gap; Thus, just imagine, if one were to flush the toilet bowl, with lid closed; and if the flushing pressure is strong; micro droplets may shoot out. and directly facing the toilet door; then it may contaminate that area with germs. No use with wind chime or other things; often closing the door (nice-to) is considered a better choice.

Dear Marc, It is usually ok to have the kitchen with the open concept in modern times. If you had consulted a true traditional Master of the past, they may not approve of it. However, so long as there is `symbolism' e.g. as you mentioned a divider such as a serving counter. This is alreay symbolic of a kitchen environment. In the past, the kitchen can be quite dirty especially if one uses charcoal stoves etc... Nowadays, we have to be practical especially with modern equipment such as air ventilators above the stove; the use of microwave ovens. A conscious effect to use less oil in the kitchen. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Frankly, there are many interpretations of kitchen in the "wrong" sector. Under Traditional Feng Shui, the major concern is the Kitchen and in particularly the stove at NW sector. NW is suppose to be the Heaven's gate. And under Traditional Feng Shui, it also reflects the head of the household. And when a stove is located at NW, then it is commonly called "fire-at-heaven's" gate. However, some modern Feng Shui practitioners call the SW sector the romance sector. I believe, this is what you are concerned with. As for SW = romance sector, this is usually not a key issue under Traditional Feng Shui practitioners. As mentioned, this is considered more of a "mode…

Honestly, in addition to your previous comments, it is essential to consider Shapes and Forms Feng Shui; as it is challenging to fully understand solely through written descriptions. Even a simple aspect such as the size of the balcony can be influenced by direct afternoon sunlight, etc... For instance, if a water feature is consistently or daily exposed to direct sunlight from the west, it will experience a high rate of evaporation. In this case, if the balcony lacks a water tap, it won't be long before the individual may resemble the hunchback of Notre Dame. Alternatively, with significant evaporation, some individuals may lack the perseverance to main…

Dear Elena, Yes, that is indeed correct. In fact the center of the house where all the energy converged, should be left empty if possible. So in this case, it is definately more ideal if you look for another better house. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

  17. Dear Cherry, Cherry Yam wrote: I just rented a house and the kitchen is in the center of the house. My sister told me it's not good. What can I do to cure this? Ideally, the center of the house should be empty if possible. If the kitchen is located there, but the stove is not located at the center of the house, then it is not as bad. If the stove is located at the center point of the house then, nothing much you can really do here except to move out to a better layout. Hope that helps. Hi, Ideally, not good for the male head career and overall luck. On the other hand, If a kitchen should usually be an auspicious sector of the spouse. This will help or even lessen the concern for the male head breadwinner. This is one reason why sometimes a kitchen at NW is bad for some but no issue for others. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  19. Dear Mr. Lee, I would like to ask for your opinion on the sort of remedy I can use to neutrlize the bad effects if my kitchen is situated in the northwest sector of my house. 20. These are some of the considerations (without any ranking or priorities):- 1. Hopefully the stove is not directly at the NW cardinal point. If so, earth and water should be used i.e. Earthen pottery can be kept in a nearby cabinet close to or above or below the stove. And at least one bottled 1.5litre water should be placed nearby the stove area. This bottle should contain clear water. And replaced, say every few months since this water is not for drinking. 2. Preference for kitchen cabinet colours NOT to be bright chilli red or bright red colour. Earth tone or light grey or metallic or white is best. 3. Preference for even number of hobs e.g. 4 hobs instead of 3 hobs…

Dear Max, There are many theories involved with regards to the kitchen: 1. Some FS practitioner feels that kitchen should be in harmony with either spouse. Either/or should be auspicious sector for either say the husband or wife. Please see below:- The main `argument' here is that it has to do with the fire element. Some FS practitioners feel that fire may be harmful as it can result in frequent quarrels. However, this is less of importance and we should be focusing more on:- 1. The kitchen has both the fire and water element i.e fire (stove) and water (the basin/refrigerator). 2. Priority is that the stove should try to face inwards in the kitchen as it helps to keep…

Halo Cecil, I am trying to position my stove, fridge and sink in a good work triangle and at the same time follow the rules of good kitchen feng shui. 1. My kitchen is in the West. Any problem with placing the sink beside and the fridge opposite the stove? 2. If the knobs of the cooker is facing up, the stove is in a neutral position? So does that means that the fridge or sink can be placed anywhere relative to the stove without experiencing bad feng shui? 3. How to determine the facing of a sink? 4. If the favourable sector of the woman using the kitchen is in the north (which is no good for kitchen feng shui), it is still advisable to place the stove there? Thank you an…

  23. 1. Please refer to this link with guidelines:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=32760&new= 2. In the above link, do take note that the conservative may even still consider the home as a Period 7. 3. And one should still work out TWO charts. And follow the advice or guidelines. For example, there are situations where the Flying Star numbers at a specific sector(s) are: 3.1. In both periods sometimes both star numbers are near identical e.g. either auspicious or inauspicious stars. If so, it is safe to apply the 20 year flying star "cure" or "enhancement" without any detrimental effects. 3.2. Thus, don't always assume that just bec…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Good Day Shifu My kitchen is located at south. Can i activate this sector? If not, which sector can i activate? I understand that activate south sector is good for career. Thank you in advance. If the South is a good sector and it falls in your office/room then probably you can activate the sector for the career. However, if it is your kitchen, then how to activate it even if it is good for your career when you can't use it? So you probably have to activate other sectors that you are able to activate. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research.
