Dear Flannery, 1. Under the symbolic animal concept, yes, the centre represents the Yellow snake. 2. Overall, we should not take the animals "literally". As the saying goes "a picture paints a thousand words". 3. Let me go off-track (first): In Singapore, when we started our first Singapore elections to elect representatives to Parliament, it was mandatory for political parties to adopt animal signs. 4. Thus, if one does not have or could not think of one; candidates can choose from the register a list of "party symbol". Thus one can find an independent candidate with e.g. an animal symbol as an example an elephant, or star etc... 5. Therefore, if (in a hypotheical case)…

Dear Carrie, 1. Unfortunately, Feng Shui is not a `cure-all'. 2. Again, we come back to the fundamentals by asking three questions here: 2.1. What is the purpose (aim) of Feng Shui. 2.2. What are it's strength 2.3. What are it's weakness 3. Overall, Feng Shui is about trying to improve one's earth luck. Other Chinese divinity methods have the same objective of trying to improve one's luck. 4. For helping to sell a property - we can still " use " Feng Shui but for a different purpose. 4.1 For example, if the vacant plot of land has good Feng Shui or even if a house has good Feng Shui. 4.2 We can `try' to market it in the hope that the buyer -- may coincidentally believe …

Hi Adeline, Glad that you enjoyed our website. Firstly, this year is a Metal Rooster in a Wood Year. So the main influence is the Wood year influence. The element that your self element (Strong metal) destroys is your wealth. ie Metal destroy Wood, thus Wood is your wealth element. Given you are a Strong Metal, you will be able to benefit from this year. So it becomes auspicious for you. As a Strong metal, water helps to exhaust your excess Metal, while Fire also destroy your metal to reduce the excess Metal. So Water, Wood & Fire are all favourable for you. So this year will automatically be a good year for you. So if you plan to do anything important this would…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I will be shifting to my new house soon. I would like to find out where is the most suitable place in the masterbedroom to hang the wedding photograph ? A friendmentioned that it is not good feng shui to hang the wedding photograph on the wall above the bed headboard. Is it true ? Frankly, this is subjective. Some people believe that if you have the picture above the bed, it signify a married couple. While others, view it in such a way that if you constantly see too much ofit, sometimes it may create more friction especially if you see it every day and night. This is especially so maybe due to age, ie as you grow older, seeing photo of yourse…

These are some of the considerations:- You wrote: 2.2 I found that the only suitable place for us to move the main door is at the north sector, but it would face NE or NW, which are both unauspicious direction. Is there any suggestions? Reply: Shifting the main door is often temporary. Furthermore; one has to take extra care in shifting the door as the wrong angle or degree is not beneficial. Dear Anon, Usually, the advise is to "go slow" with Feng Shui. It has also to do with what is the level of Feng Shui one is prepared to go into? The quickest way (but cost money) is to go for a Full Feng Shui audit by a competent FS practitioner. Else, if one wants to `learn' (learning is not good enough) but rather applying Feng Shui, one has to spent time and effort like any other disciplines. Like I mentioned, there are lots of resources available both e.g. in this website. Starting point: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/theory.htm or get yourself books on Feng Shui. For calculation under the Eight House, I recommend you spent sometime to browse through http://www.geomancy…

1. Excluding one's Kua, Period 8, in general, NE1 & SW1 can enjoy sum-of-ten especially if the interior layout is squarish/rectangular shaped. For NE2/3 and/or SW2/3, can benefit from Parent String effect. Both homes should have as much open space if possible especially for the ground level : living/dining area. 2. Drainage out of the plot of a landed property is very important! For example, I have attached two samples:showing the degrees where drainage out of the home should best be located. Sample 1: NE1 Period 8 landed property. Note the specific degrees where drainage MUST exit the property. Sample 2: SW2 Period 8 landed property. Again, where the water or…

Dear Anon, 1. You can find out more about the Black Hat Sect Feng Shui from this link: http://www.loop.com/~bramble/fengshui/confess.html If you click on the above link, you will be transported Cate Bramble, Ultimate Feng Shui Resource site with an article called " Confessions of Lin Yun ". She is the strongest advocate against the practise of the Black Hat Sect. 2. An `L' shaped house does not necessary mean that it is `bad' or cause a `dilemma'. Even if both of you are `opposites'. 3. In this site, we normally leave it to the users to decide what depth or level of Feng Shui or `non-Feng Shui' they want to go into. This can range from simply applying Shapes and Form to t…

1. Please note that the traditional method of matching career goes down to the lowest common denominator (L.C.M.) = Five Elements concept. 2. Even Chinese horoscopes and more specifally: DD/MM/YYYY can also be broken down into the Five Elements concept. 3. In general, the industry of LAW belongs to the Fire element:-http://www.geomancy.net/talknotes/talknotes.htm 4. Under the Five elements concept; we talk in terms of the productive cycle:Fire support earth:- 4.1 Thus, a career in LAW isconsidered suitable to aWEAK earth person. These are some considerations:- 1. If Feng Shui is used as a diagnostic tool to determine whether it can or cannot help; 2. Such key success factors include things like:- 2.1. Ba zi analysis of the individual. As some individuals are better to work for others than to do own business 2.2. Earth Luck: A detailed look at the earth luck: luck from one's home and work / shop 3. The above are generally the set of Holistic Approach to Feng Shui. 4. External Factors: 4.1. Please note that good Geomancers can often distinguish whether a business can be helped by Feng Shui or NOT. As Feng Shui is not a cure all for everything even business failures. 4.2. Dear Elena, Yes, it is very common for people to ask for their immediate office to be Feng Shui-ed. Most of the time if it is the CEO or a manager, they do have a room to themselves. Here, if it is the case, this would be `easy.' Most important thing to remember is to use the Shapes and Form School. Even if it is an individual table, one should always consider using Shapes and Form. Here, for the Manager's room, make sure that his back is facing a wall or never have the door opened to his back. He/She should also have the desk supported on one side of the wall. Next watch for poison arrows and overhead beams. Considerations such as this are the most important. Next, you …

Dear Lian Seng, Please see below:- ----- Original Message ----- From: "free-advice Listmanager" To: Sent: Monday, July 24, 2000 12:28 PM Subject: Placing a wind chime You have asked how to determine when to place a wind chime. It is good to analyse the house by doing a Flying Star analysis and then checking to see if a wind chime is `suitable'. Here, the type of material used and equally color of the wind chime should also be considered. For example, if the wind chime is colored red, or in a triangle shape, (depending on the overall shape) it could mean that it has the fire element. Frankly, it is hard for me to comment on your situation as mentioned above, it woul…

Dear Shaqeel, If i am not mistaken what you trying to understand is about your house's Sitting and Facing position. Since you are born a kua no 9(Li)person, the most suitable house is Sitting East Facing West ,Sitting South East Facing North West ,Sitting North Facing South and Sitting South Facing North. (this could also be a reason why your West facing house is good for you) To get a more clearer feng shui analysis in your house, you will have to get a flying star chart for it. Just my opinion. 1. Since the door is facing the staircase, the concept is "if it is not seen it is no longer a threat" applies. Thus, it should be placed such that the staircase is fully or partially blocked. 2. In Singapore weather, the most common - easy to maintain are those from the bamboo family is one of the easiest to upkeep. The yellow bamboo and common straight growing ones are OK. Any other plants so long as they don't have a single trunk would be accepable.

Dear Maria, In my opinion, this perhaps may have to do with symbolism. Perhaps, what you have read is that the particular author felt that photos above a fireplace could represent it being `burned' i.e. the fireplace represents fire. Any pictures above it may be symbolically `burned.' You could perhaps introduce a `neutral' element e.g. Earth e.g. pottery on the mantle piece of the fireplace. Especially, if one feels `uncomfortable' with it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

In the U.S. it sounds similar to the chinese pronounciation, is this correct? Generally, a garage isn't really part of a house. So it can be built separately or added on, but the entry or direction of the garage will not replace the facing of the house. So it really does not matter if it is not possible to enter into the garage from a good direction. Back to …

Hi Cecil, I just received a land boundary/lot diagram of my new house. The land is wider in the back and makes an arrow pointed shape. I remeber reading in your resouce forum that this particular shape is inauspicious. I am attaching a picture for your reference.Theback of the houseslopes higher than the front as the housesitstowards a base of a hill, with slight elevation higher in the back. There was tremendous landscape work done to the backyard already. Any advice isgreatly appreciated. You can use my picture as an educational reference. Thanks again.

In real life situation and not in a far fetched, utopian world; under Feng Shui:- Metal can be represented by white and gold. White can also be considered as a "neutral" colour. For example, in the past, either sandstone or lime is used to plaster walls. And lime is = white. And white is a very common colour. Gold is "tricky" colour. As you had mentioned, many of the near pure gold wedding rings are "yellowish". Thus, some people, may consider "yellow" as gold. However, usually, one can or may try totell, by looking at say a curtain. Some curtains are silky smooth yellowish - much closer to gold colour. While some curtains are just plain yellowish. Orange colour is a…
