Could you 1) Our house is a For the effectiveness in the sum-of-ten, the most effective are: Earth shaped or rectangular shaped home or try to have your home as `rectangular' as possible. Dear Mandy, Please refer to this resource on how to determine the centrepoint, etc... http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-house1.htm There are many (many) Schools of Feng Shui. And your geomancy master is not wrong. In the past, ancient times, getting the main door is simple since, many of the homes / with court-yard are rectangular in shape and where the main gate facing is, the main door facing is often in the same direction. In ancient times, there is no such thing as so elaborate a building with honeycombs of various `facing' homes. Given this senario, standing at the centrepoint to the main door utilises the concept of "centre-of-gravity" and the flux a…

Dear Mr Ng, 1. Based on the information provided. I have run a flying star (xuan kong chart for your home). 2. These are my findings:- 2.1 In addition to what was mentioned earlier, the flying star chart for your home equally shows another `leak' based on the time dimension. 2.2 Under your current home Period 7 flying star chart because you have a mountain star #5 at the front of your home, this is associated with "loss of money and misfortune". 2.3 Based on this current Period 7 chart, it is not advantages to activate any water in your living room or balcony area) as much of the cures relating to this home are not from water - element. 3. For your home, give the confirma…

  5. Dear Rolando, Industry Analysis: ================== The object or item: lingerie belongs to the earth element or clothing industry. Company Analysis: ================= Core business: a. For the manufacturer If the core business is to design and launch new lingerie, this can be considered under Wood element. b. In your case, most likely, you are selling lingerie, than the core business is Marketing / Sales. Under this area, it is considered as a fire element. The type of colour or outlet would depend on the type of clientelle that you are considering. If you are selling `niche' market lingerie, targetted to the boutique style, than - it is best to discuss with your Interio…

Dear Robert, For 1st timers, it is best to go for a `pie-chart' 8 wedges method instead of the grid. If the home is rectangular, than the 9 grid, can easier be applied to. Flying star chart can be used to analyse a singular room or an entire home. Since your purpose is to analyse your own home, than, it is suggested that you try to find the `centre' of gravity of your home. And from this centrepoint, align the north-south compass direction to the template. For example, you can review the resources for the Eight House Chart or Template: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm The metholody is quite similar to the Flying star chart. Warmest Regards, Cecil Regards.

Dear Jen, A home is similar to an artist's canvas painting. It has a shape and form. And it is best to look at a home in it's entirety. Not just whether, there is clear-space "exactly at the centrepoint" or close-by. Equally important are the `air-flow' entry and exit points of a home e.g. the windows, doors etc... And all these should be seen in an entire picture i.e. the production of a layout plan. In my opinion, what you mentioned is like examining just the right side of a vehicle's car. Thus an incomplete picture. I hope you understand: With the incomplete picture given, I have to give you an incomplete answer: Dunno. In the future, if one is describing a person, ple…

Dear Stan, In my opinion, each animal belongs to a certain set of element. For example, next year has two relationships: 1. Metal Monkey 2. in the Wood Year (2004). Under such circumstances, often, many practitioners will apply the Five elements concept to see how well the "Metal Monkey" fit or not-fit with the Wood year. And as many of are aware, the Five Elements concept is prevalent and the most applied concept, to troubleshoot or explain things (be it a year, a month etc..) But what is most interesting is that some FS practitioners perhaps, want to have "fame" and would try to predict certain events next year. If one analyse their "predictions" closely, many will ch…

Dear Gerard, In my opinion, often these sun-shades do not pose a `threat' to a neighbour. In fact, I believe, HDB had already for many years back installed sun shade - in particular; for bedroom windows facing west or south west direction. Many of these windows have `clear space' i.e. often no obstruction as far as 500 metres or more (from another block of flats). What is worse is this `test': Sometimes, the next block is a full wall. And when we stand inside of the home, looking outwards, we tend to get `glare' or light reflected from such neighbouring block's walls. And this glare is `sha qi'. Many of the sun-screens as you had mentioned covers mostly a level higher tha…

Dear Anon, Yes, this is considered as a `threat' to the `mouth' (main entrance) of the home. Given this situation: Taiwanese Feng Shui often suggests the use of plant(s). But if this is not possible, see if one can apply the concept: " if it cannot be seen, it can no longer be a threat". The next is the "terroist link" option: Get Bin Laden to help demolish the threat. *JOKE* As a last resort, one may have to consider the placement of a ba gua mirror above the main entrance doo. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Monica, Frankly, in Feng Shui, there is no specific need for `special' paintings all around the walls in a bedroom. If you have posted this message to a "Feng Shui emporium", I believe, you will be happy `slapped' with various items to buy on their site. In Feng Shui, one key success factor is "clear space". And cleanliness. I am not saying that hanging paintings is not `clean'. But for those living in Asia, and at low floors, such as 1st to the 4th storey, there are such insects / reptiles as : lizards. Often, if one has three paintings, at night, one may just get a glimse of a few `fat' lizards, coming out of the hiding of various paintings to catch their bait. No…

Dear Anon, 1. One thing for sure: Economically, it has future resale potential being in a popular/higher priced area. 2. In terms of Feng Shui, these are `point-block' type of condo. 3. And, point block condos are, in my opinion, has better qi flow and `points' of entry of qi in and out of the unit(s). 4. The major consideration is that although this is a `point block', it does not have the rectangular point block feature. A rectangular point block often has at least `three-points' of qi flow e.g. balcony, various bedrooms and kitchen or back area. And a forth, qi flow coming from the main door. 5. But the condo does allow for exceptional length of `frontage'. 6. As for …

  13. Dear Susan, If you have a sketch, it would be easier to visualise the situation. Overall, since all bedrooms often have a window(s) and a bedroom door, there is a limitation to where it can be placed. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Often, the colour scheme can be used in many situations. Neutral colour such as white or pastel shades of light colours are acceptable. The use of 6 coins is symbolic. Here, 6 represents big metal. And this is why it is often used. Other metal elements often used as a cure in Feng Shui are things like pendulum clock or wind chimes. In my opinion, this type of cure can be subjective. As not all practitioners may agree with it. In my opinion, it does help. So long as it is seen, it is ok. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  15. Started by myfs_98543,

Dear Susan, Since you do not have furniture inside, then perhaps, see if the external landscape looks appealing or `clean'. As you had mentioned, the `first' impression of the front of the home is important. Often, Feng Shui is not meant to sell a property. But most people like: convenience (to work/schools/markets etc). And, likewise, $$$ plays an important part of the attractiveness of a home for a buyer. And if a home has good Feng Shui, such as open space and friendly, FS interior, hopefully, some clients may appreciate this. Wishing You all the best in selling your home! Warmest Regards, Cecil

  16. Started by myfs_70779,

Dear Anon, Yes, placing too many wind chimes can indeed be an "over-kill" especially if one uses the light weight alluminium type of wind chime. For those using the much heavier copper (hollow rod) with an I-ching coin clinger, this type, in my opinion, makes almost few or no sound at all. (Even in heavy winds). Perhaps, some of these, (for decoration) is not an "over-kill" since they are (nearly totally ineffective in making large sounds). Why not consider planting plants or shrubs on the fence or use "day" curtains. Both are equally acceptable. "If it is not seen, it no longer becomes a threat:)" Warmest Regards, Cecil

  17. Dear Yak Heng, If you are D.I.Y. Feng Shui, then, you may have to spent more effort in understanding the various Shapes and Forms as well as Compass School Feng Shui (which includes Flying Star Feng Shui). Frankly, you may have to `burn-midnight oil' digesting as much as you can on these concepts. Else, the last resort would be to get a FS practitioner. Since, your short question cannot be replied to in total as there are lots of concepts involved even within each Feng Shui principle/concept. Warmest Regards, Cecil regards yhgoh

Dear Yak Heng, 1. The only correction method is often, to tilt the door. But in a HDB senario, it is impossible to do so due to restrictions by HDB. 2. One has to understand the various concept(s), their strengths and limitations. 3. In case of the Eight House theory, "wishing" away the wrong direction is near to impossible unless one physically make changes under para 1. 4. Often, anything else, under the Eight House is like taking a sugar coated pill. 5. Therefore, it is not so easy to use a "correction fluid" to ease the `problem'. It will always be there! 6. What is more important is that since, this is already a `leak' try to avoid more leaks in the home. 7. Or, tr…

Dear Karen, Studies such as those done by NASA, has shown that having a plant indoors can be beneifical to a home. Recently, I had posted a link in this forum to a Honeywell Site - which also has some resources on having a plant indoors - and that some plants are more effective than others in `cleansing' the air in a home. In my opinion, I personally think that there are two reasons why some people do not like having a money plant indoors i.e. home or office:- Reason 1: Some of us just use a glass plant container, add rocks, to `secure' the roots of the money plant. And simply pour water to this container. As many of us know, this is an easy option, as we do not need to …

Dear Kok Seng, If you have a relatively large garden or a garden cum car-park, then, see if you have a sufficient wall e.g. a brick wall to shield your home from this "T" junction. The other alternative is if allowed, often, the exterior of your home has some plants or bush such as a garden balcony attached to your brick wall. Or, have plants to help shield your home from this Sha Qi. Hopefully, your main door cannot be directly seen from this "sha qi". If so, the tradition, is to place a ba gua mirror above the main door or the windows facing this `threat'. Apply proper Feng Shui to: 1. fix leaks - if any in a home 2. enhance using both Shapes and Forms and Flying s…

Dear Amy, In general: 1. Colours are important in Feng Shui. Thus, do check the type of colour(s) used. 2. White - represents metal element. And if the room is in white colour, it already has one component which is metal. 3. Colours like cream or beige or yellow belongs to the earth element. And rooms that are painted in these colours and if there are #2 (bad sickness earth) and #5 (bad earth - misfortune/sickness). If the room has been painted this colour or other colours in the room e.g. curtains used cream or yellow, then, metal should be used, here. 4. Where possible for neutralising #5 - constant metal is needed. Cures for this would range from: 4.1. 6 rod metal w…

Dear Amy, 1. Perhaps, you may like to consider the expert help option (We do it for you). 2. Each of us have our own birth-chart. And the distinction between Eight House and Flying Star Feng Shui is similar. 3. Both takes into consideration the "birth-chart" of a home. 4. As mentioned above, each of us have our birth-chart. Same goes for a home. 5. Given this understanding, we need to balance the elements in a home's "birth-chart". And the Flying Star Chart actually analyses the "birth-chart" of a home. 6. Therefore, even if one is a metal element or other element, we MUST first balance the birth-chart of our home. One way is based on the advice provided in a Flying Star …

Dear Amy, If you do not do any major renovations, your home will be considered to have a Period 6 birth-chart. Under Period 6, the number 6 is always considered an auspicious number. Even after Period 6, say even a house with double 6's (mountain and water star) is also acceptable - auspicious numbers. Given that the Number 6 is always an auspicious number, even under Period 1 to 9. But however, the number 7 is different. Under Period 7, any number = 7 is very auspicious. But after Period 7, this number turns to it's own bad number i.e. 7 = robbery or theft star. Therefore, a house with in Period 7 i.e. has a double 7's (very auspicious during Period 7) will "turn against…

Dear Xin Xin, 1. The two traditional and thus considered authentic schools of Feng Shui originated from China: Shapes and Forms and Compass School. 2. As Chinese culture and beliefs has spread to many cultures, Tibet is very close to, and now part of China. 3. The Black Hat (BTB) Sect or often called the Black Hat Tantric Sect - has a major part to play with the marketing of Tibetan stuff especially, the mystic of the Tibetan bells etc... 4. To many Tradtional Feng Shui Schools, this is not an authentic school. But many of the authentic schools have considered BTB as a marketing ploy. With its strong association of fixed template FS and various products etc.... 5. Perhap…
