    1. Usually, the origin of the "white elephant" comes from Thailand instead of China. 2. In the past, elephants were revered especially in the north. And elephants represents strength and good fortune in China. Chinese figurines often have children or a child riding on it to symbolise "fertility" and "wealth". 3. In my opinion, the white elephant has more to do with Thailand. As White elephants are rare and the King of Thailand, is the only one that keeps or considers white elephants as sacred and thought to bring good fortune. Thus anyone in Thailand that can "supply" a genuine White elephant to the King (Thai King) will be well rewarded! 4. In Thailand, the King has a…

  2. Dear Anon, To understand better, we have to know that there are three kinds of Luck:- Based on the Chinese Holy Trinity of Luck, there are generally, three types of luck:- 1. Heaven Luck (What we are born with) 2. Earth Luck (The Feng Shui of our home and even office) 3. Man or Human Luck (Family, relationships and networking luck) What you have just mentioned is that your husband is considered a "weak fire" person. And this analysis is based on his bazi. Bazi is about Heaven Luck. We don't live in an isolated world. Although it is fine in theory to say that your husband is a weak fire, therefore, water (blue colour) may drown him. And thus wood (green is more suita…

Dear Joanne, In a bedroom, it is quite difficult to change the layout especially the bed. 1. It is most important to make sure that the bed conform to Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui (FIRST). Here:- 1. Where possible the bed should not be on the same wall as the door to the bedroom. 2. It should preferably be on the opposite wall of the entrance door. 3. Where possible it should have a solid backing e.g. a wall instead of placing it against a window. 4. If the side of the bed is near a window, a gap e.g. by placing a side table or leaving some space for someone to walk is good. 5. Where possible it should not be on the same wall as the toilet. Warmest Regards, Cecil

    1. In my opinion, you are trying to compare "apples" with "oranges". 2. For example, the basic idea that north = water, south = fire. Are like apples. Very basic form of the five elements concept. 3. If I were you, seriously if you are into the DIY type of Feng Shui: after reading your sentences: 3.1 A little knowlege is a dangerous thing. 3.2 You (really, really) have a long long (extra long) way to go in understanding, or even comprehending concepts of Five elements vs Eight House (Ba Cai) Feng Shui. 4. I seriously hope that you are not going to practise both "Fast Food" or "Commando style" sounds like but not real Feng Shui.

    1. In my opinion, unless there is a specific "ceremony" or religious ceremony; or performed by a priest or high priest; 2. Otherwise, any ordinary folk painting a figurine or even "painting" the eyes does not constitute the above para 1. 3. Thus, in essence, any "Tom, Dick or Harry" that paints an eye on an object is a non-issue and does not convey a "religious" purpose.

  7. Dear Anon, The best solution is lots of activity at the double 8 sitting position (if possible). For example, in some homes, the living room area is situated here, Alternatively, or materialistically, one may hang a painting of a mountain with trees, at this location without water in the picture. Can't help if it falls into the toilet. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  8. Dear Anon, Sorry, hope you can clarify futher as to where you had read where the phoenix and dragon are `kept' in the bedroom. So far, as I recall, I have not made the above remarks other than mention that they are symbols that some married couples use (embrodied) on their pillow covers. However, as the phoenix represents the Female and the dragon Male, they are sometimes embroided on pillow covers for `luck'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Khairul, 1. In my opinion, there are many books available on Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 2. In architecture or interior design, Shapes and Form is the most applicable. 3. Other than the above, `space clearing' is a common topic. 4. Under this website, you can find many free resources: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/map.htm Particuarly, main topics like: The Landscape, The Site and The Home. 5. Alternatively, you can get like one user mentioned: Basic Feng Shui by Lillian Too. Many of her other books are either repetition or have in my opinion, many contradictions. Alternatively, get books that have a good mix of pictures/illustration and wordings (explanations). Warmest R…

Dear Gina, Frankly, it is very difficult for me to give advise based on general statements. Hope you understand. As for a mirror at a staircase landing... this can be considered a good thing (especially) if it is a private home where one has an upper floor. A mirror at the starcase landing is side to help or aid Qi flow upwards (up-stairs). However, if it is common property.. I am not sure if the landlord allows it. Frankly, I find it "not advisable" to hang a crystal ball from the top frame of the door. However, if I were given the choice, I would rather place 6 coins inside the house (above the same door frame instead of a crystal ball). Here, the belief is that perhaps…

  11. Dear Anon, Please see below:- Generally, it is acceptable to plant the additional flower bushes. Like all plants, they need frequent trimmings (especially, if they had grown / mature). Usually, there is no specific plants that one should keep, but rather, plant plants that are commonly found to thrive and flower in my specific country. It would be nice to see the flowers bloom. Yes, we live in a practical world. Where, we do have things that we keep near our bed. Usually, one do not need to shift it. The only thing is if we can try (where possible to avoid) a sharp corner (if we can). But as you mentioned that it is a small cupboard, it is still acceptable to lea…

Dear Mogford, 1. I understand your `problem' faced trying to apply Feng Shui to your boat house. 2. A boat house is quite `similar' to a small apartment and dormitory. 3. Applying Feng Shui to your boat house is indeed very difficult and because of space constraints or the uniqueness of the layout, there is not much `enhancements' one can do other than: 3.1 To make the house boat as `cosy' or comfortable to the individual. 3.2 Application of Shapes and Forms is more crucial i.e. `parking' the boat in a secured and sheltered environment. Here, it is like houses which is on a barren land and subject to strong force of wind blowing. It is such unprotected situations e.g. sto…

Dear Henry, Please see below:- Yes, in my opinion, it is good to lit up the hallway. For the falling water, normally, it is placed either outside the office e.g. the entrance or alternatively; within the reception counter area. From your description, since this is a narrow hallway, it would be difficult to place a waterposition at this area. Warmest Regards, Cecil

    1. The clue is "time-dimension". 2. When you mentioned east symbolizes big wood... is there any reference to time dimensions in such a statement? Yes/No? 3. If No, then should "just" focus on the specific sector(s) based on Flying star numbers and their analysis / interpretation.

    1. In GENERAL, under Period 8, it is highly good chance that a water feature at South-West can benefit "most" people as this is generally an "indirect-water" wealth spirit location especially if it is a balcony or patio area. 2. As mentioned in my earlier, message on your earlier question, we are talking about the Feng Shui of your home (earth luck). 3. Under the Chinese holistic approach to luck, there are three kinds of luck:- 3.1 Heaven Luck (what one is born with) and analysed via Ba Zi 3.2 Earth Luck (Your home, office, business or place of stay/rent) 3.3 Human or man luck (Relationships, family bonding etc...) and many also get conned thru"Bull-shit = buying of c…

  17. Dear Anon, 1. Usually, a Feng Shui consultant would first do an audit of the home and afterwards recommend the placement of a water position (if it is benefical). 2. Other factors include, the breadwinners Ba Zhi or Eight Characters. If the person's element and strength is weak water or strong fire, based on his element, it would be advantages if such a person, has water in his home. However, if the person is a weak fire person, additional water would further exhaust him. Similarly if a person is a strong water person, he should not need more water as it would `weigh' down on him. 3. In general, without taking into consideration the `caution' above, one can generally act…

Dear Vanessa, CONGRATULATIONS! 1. Frankly, this has more to do with beliefs (Chinese beliefs) than Feng Shui. 2. A sample is as shown under Geomancy.net's picture resources:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?action=view&link=Celebrations_And_Festivals/Chinese_Weddings/invitation_cards&image=wedding-f2.gif&img=0&search=wedding&cat=all&tt=&bool=and 4. What is there are no others choice it must be near to main door, how we going to solve it? Wil it affect our career as me and my husband is doing sales related to food business? Dear Chong Wee Wei, There are two senarios, here: 1. Symbolism in Feng Shui Under symbolism in Feng Shui, it is best to avoid having items such as fork or occasional scissors on the dining table if it can be seen from the main entrance. As this could suggest : issues like quarrels in the home. In addition, the idea of having a empty rice bowl with a set of chopsticks on the di…

Dear Anon, There are two ways at looking into this:- 1. Human Luck Factor Some of us enjoy putting on jewellry or wear some jewellry. And perhaps, make them feel good or even confident of one-self. Drawing a parallel, it is akin to buying somedecorative itemsfor the home. Imagine, a home can orlook very dull without some form of decoration. 2. Under the Five Elements Concept Reference: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm Under the Five Elements concept, if we take a careful look at the "destructive" cycle; one can see the "constant" Metal "destroys" Wood or Water "destroys" Fire or Wood "destroys"Earth or Fire "destroys" Metal or Earth "de…

Unless you hold a high position where you are given your own room, there is very little or much you can do to really enhance your luck in the limited office space you are given. 1. Everyone has his/her ba zi or "birth chart". A home also has it's own "birth chart". 2. Under the Compass School of Feng Shui: a home's ba zi (birth chart) is based on the Flying Star Feng Shui. Where e.g. what is the birth date of the home? And in addition it's specific direction. Thus a home can be a Period 8, North-West 1 home. 3. So long as one can properly identify where is the water wealth sector of a home, we can than "safely" place a water feature in (inside) the home. 4. Thus, decision made under Para 3; is made first, without consulting or checking to see if the owner (breadwinner)'s elements are suited or not. 5. Thus under Para 3, the breadwinner or sp…
