  2. Dear Master, thank you very much for your advice. My interior designer has a very interesting idea in the altar design, but I am doubtful about its appropriateness, and would like to seek your advice again. 1. Per my request, she located the Altar in location "A". However, she had the altar designed with transparent (glass) backing, and is about 6" away from the wall (there is a gap between the back of Altar and Wall). Is this acceptable? The Altar sits on top of the TV console too. 2. In seconddesign option, she had it made like a rectangular box that is wall mounted (suspended)in location "B". There is a spot light above the buddha. Is this acceptable? 3. The 3rd option…

  8. 1. Please see sample illustration. 2. As both Mr and Mrs are Strong Fire persons; one of their binding elements is METAL. 3. Thus if both are the owners or subsidiary proprietors of a condo unit; then it is better to get a Guan Yin that e.g. has pure white clothing (less the colourful lotus leaf colours) that she sits onto. 3.1 Or the clothing she wears is gold in colour. 3.2 Usually the figurines have "natural tone" colours. 4. The next thing is to walk around and stare at her face. Often, instinctively, if one likes that statue's face; then this is a potential buy. 5. Often the other more common material is a wooden Guan Yin figurine or a Guan Yin that has substa…

Dear Sir, I came across your website by chance. I stay in Australia. Please advise which is the best position for my Buddhist and ancestor altar. In fact, when I was watching some Taiwan fengshui program. They always said that it is not advisable to had a toilet, kitchen stove and bedroom behind the altar. Given the space constraint, I don't think anyone is able to fulfil all the requirement of having an ideal altar site. We can only do our best. on. Position A is the current position. It has 回风煞 and toilet issue. Unless I seal up the entrant on the right. Position B will result in the altar facing the door however the …

  16. Dear Master, We would like to place a Guan Yin altar in our living room and hope you can kindly help us. Attached picture is our floor layout which shows our existing locations of built-in TV console, shoe rack, dinning table, sofa and cove light false ceiling (blue dotted line) etc. We basically have a very small living room and we are having a headache on where to place the altar. 1) It seems like location A (facing door) is the only location to place the altar (Orange box) and we have to also install a full height wall partition (black box) behind the altar. I was advised that the partition wall should be in-line with the wall (dotted-black lines) as a rule of thum…

  20. Hi Master Cecil I saw the above picture in one your reply. You mentioned that the length is 41cm to 43cm or 59.5cm to 69cm or 71cm or 89cm or 107cm or 148cm. Is this the length of the whole altar from one end to another end? If yes, and using 107cm as example, what measurement to use for ancestor table and chinese god? If the measurement is for the ancestor tablet and the chinse god tablet respectively, then can we use a combination of say 41cm for ancestor table and 59.5cm for chinese god? Appreciate your thoughts on this.

The altar facing is similar in nature to the stove. Thus, you should instead be standing at A facing X as the direction. As to the NE or SW, best that the altar is not located at the NE or SW sector of the home; where possible.
