1. In my opinion, it is very common especially for new couples to "conserve" their money and try not to overspent or worse, become so indebted even before carrying on a "new life". In fact, quite alot of couples I know previously, have kept some of the "unmoveable" fixtures such as what you had mentioned especially built in wardrope. 2. As mentioned above, money does not fall out of the sky! And often without money or savings or if we do have monetary problems between couples.. it is one of the leading cause of "separation" etc.. 3. Especially for the entire home, one of the best key successfactors is to definitely re-paint the entire home. 4. Prior to taking over the…

Dear Gordon, If space is a constraint, there is really not much that can be done. Some Feng Shui practitioners may recommend placing a windchime to `neutralise' the pointed edge. However, one should also take note that windchimes may not be favourable. You can do a search in this forum for more information of the `effects' of wind chimes (if wrongly) placed. Regards, Cecil

Dear Delia, Delia Vidal wrote: I don't know where to begin with the Feng Shui procedure. Believe it or not, I have ordered to Feng Shui kits and it describes each item and what it does....but nothing regarding the ceremony. Firstly, what exactly are you trying to do? are you finding a house, evaluating an existing home, finding auspicious dates, moving ceremony etc? There are so many different steps fordifferent kinds of analysis. Unless you know exactly what you are trying to do or accomplish, it is hard for anyone to advise you where or what to start. Probably it is best you go through some of the basic resources on our website. A simple house survey would be:- URL…

1. I assume that you are referring to a landed property. 2. For landed property, imagine where is the road driving into your property and where is your main gate. 3. Usually is your main gate and main entrance door the same facing direction i.e. when you open your main entrance door is this the same direction as the main gate? And in addition, your living room and frontage of home is at this location. 3.1 If YES, then stand inside the house looking outwards and take a compass reading. This is your facing direction. 3.2 If NO, determine where is the frontage of your home. And take a reading from inside the home e.g. porch or patio looking outwards. 4. Obtain a layout …

Dear Kaushal, #2 = earth #3 = wood In my opinion, it would not be a good idea to use water i.e. a bowl of water as water will enhance #3 or wood. My advise is to use a METAL cure. Here METAL does wonder to neutralising #2 and #3. There are many METAL cures already mentioned in this website. My `favourite' is the use of 6 metal coins. As it has few or little hiccup's associated with some other cures like wind chimes. But cures such as 6 rod hollow wind chimes (may be used) or the use of a pendulum brass/metal clock with it's tick-tock effect are acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, For really bad stars #5 combined or inflammed by #9; it is good to control this with "moving-metal". "Moving-metal" is particulary useful since you mentioned that in addition to these two bad stars, there is a further #3 = lawsuits, quarrels star. If the bedroom is not a bedroom, then one may consider using a six-hollow-rod windchime at that specific sector. Or a chiming clock around the wall of that sector. A clock that makes mechanical movement is also acceptable. Other traditional Feng Shui cures include:- a. the placement of a hulu or bottle gourd e.g. placed at the bed side table. b. for severe cases: get a jam jar (sized bottle). place 6 copper co…

Dear Anon, Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, so long as the frontage or the "head" portion of a house is not "chopped-off" to be re-renovated. For example, for some homes, the owners left the back part of the home intact but started to built a new front of the home. If so, it is still best to demolish the entire home and start from fresh again. Generally without looking into the finer details, how squarish or rectangular or how odd shaped the property is, all these will affect the final outcome as to whether we should "join" back the house. If it is just adding back walls that were previously knocked out, in general, if done properly, it may be acceptable to do so. …

Dear Lakmun, 1. For a preliminary analysis, you can generate a free Eight House report at www.geomancy-online.com 2. The other alternative is to look up and get the services of a Feng Shui practitioner, to conduct a `worry' free audit. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Hi, I am very interested in this unit but it is almost unavoidable to give the place a fresh coat of paint, renovating the bathroom (hacking the tiles) and not to mention the possibility of knocking down a part of the kitchen wall. However, by doing that, it will bring the house number from a good period to period 8, which was interpretated as 'vomitting'. Is there a way to curb this? The house do really need some renovation. Also, is this 'vomiting' referring to physical vomiting or more than that? Thanks! Dear Jo, In my opinion, it is best not to apply `sector/corner' "Feng Shui". This type of "Feng Shui" is a modern invention and no basis in the (wide scope) of Traditional Feng Shui. No Traditional Feng Shui practitioner would practise such things (with the exception of Feng Shui authors.) It is so easy to write books based on this. Furthermore, it is too general i.e. to be applicable to everyone in the world. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Lee, 1. In Feng Shui, if one has an `L-shaped' living room or living cum dining room; one should take advantage of (top-down view) of "two rectangular" shaped areas. Imagine here that a partition on one side of the wall with walking space - will imply two rectangle areas. This is the best configuration for an `L-shaped' room/area. 2. If you have a sketch of your existing `L-shaped' layout and/or a proposed sketch; feel free to upload it as a message (Attachment file) for me to make my comments. Otherwise, you may explain further or describe further (Forgive me -- hopefully, I can understand and comment somewhat on it) for you. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Janice, The 6 coin cure is related to the assessment done under the Flying Star Feng Shui. Here, 6 coins represent `Big metal' or strong metal element. It is used to `destroy' or `neutralise' bad numbers under the Flying Star numerology. As this cure involves the Five elements concept, you may have to first read up or understand the Five elements concept first. Before, progressing to understand how the Flying Star Feng Shui can help you. My advise is to take your time to understand the various concepts in particular:- 1. What is the purpose of each concept. 2. What are it's strengths and weakness. 3. How to apply them effectively. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Please refer to my previous posting on the same subject of lion dance. In the past, the traditional lion dance was performed on the last day of lunar celebrations i.e. 15 Lunar day i.e. since CNY officially starts on 8 February 2005 this year; then 22 February 2005 is suppose to be the last day and lion dance performance. However, in modern times, and for practical purposes in my opinion, it is particularly good or meaningful to usher in the lunar new year especially on or before the 15th day of celebrations. This is to allow for the troupe to be able to perform at your home. If one lives in a landed property, the challenge is to hang a lettuce vegetable wi…

Dear Trish, Frankly, without a sketch, it is quite difficult to figure out your exact room layout plan. Firstly, what are you trying to achieve. From your second last paragraph, you mentioned that pointing west is good for you. However, does it look not only feasible but "comfortable" for you. In other positions are you trying to avoid aiming your foot towards the bathroom door? Generally, if there are no other better placements, this is quite acceptable. Most of the time, to be honest there are limited configurations for placing the bed /bed-head. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Trish Perry wrote: My question has to do with bed positioning. Dear Master Cecil, I started reading about Feng Shui after I bought my flat. Since it is a done deal, I'll like to present my layout as a case study for learning. I have attached a picture of the layout and some placement of screens and furniture. I was borned in 1975 and my kua number is 7. My wife is borned in 1977 and kua number is 9. Will appreciate your advise on the following. 1. Is my way of locating the centre of the house correct correct? 2. There is a major missing corner as indicated by the RED circle. Is this a major poison arrow? How can I remedy this? 3. The bathroom is very near the centre of the house and the main entrance. Is my interpretation correct? Is…

Dear Oliv, Oliv Sullivan wrote: Question: If someone's house number is, as an example, 90 and their Kua number is 1, is there any benefit to penciling in a 1 to make the house number appear as if it is 190 or 901 (which would add up to a 1) even though it is really not? However, in your mailing address it will still be written as 90 right? So it is not going to really help instead it may make your postman frustrating to locate your home. As mentioned in many other post, auspicious number is really subjective and different people have different preference. I can tell you some people dislike 4, but there are others who will love it. The luck of a home does not come from …
