Dear Rosemarie, 1. If one is applying the `formula' or the Gua number, it is best to apply a specific site's interpretation from begining to the end. 2. The rationale is because, if one uses the steps provided by e.g. each site one should as a end result get the same answers. 3. I cannot blame you for getting confused especially, if one reads a few lines from one site and follow another set of guidelines from another e.g. book. Here, again, I must emphasise, you have to read totally the instructions from a site and follow it. 4. Rationale, why many are confused:- 4.1 The original template or Chinese compass uses the magnetic South to North. While the western uses North to…

Dear Anon, Feng Shui refers (in general) to the Earth Luck of a home. Feng Shui is about trying to increase the Earth Luck or trying to harmonise the home. Feng Shui thus cannot be done by `remote control'. For example, if one does not live in a particular house e.g. Smith Street, USA and say he/she resides in Trafagar Square, UK. His `earth luck' (the breadwinner's) would then be based on the house that of the home he currently resides i.e. Trafagar Square, UK. And not the house in Smith Street, USA. If the breadwinner stays in the UK. Then the person who earns the most and staying in Smith Street, USA; would instead be consider the breadwinner of this house. Warmest R…

Dear Cecil, First of all thank you very much for a comprehensive website on the Feng Shui. I have learnt a lot about this ancient science from your website and especially it has cleared a lot half knowledge or wrong knowledge which I had gathered fromsome other websites, books which give very general information about Feng Shui and actuallythis half or wrong knowlegdeputs people more into trouble rather than helping them. It is with your site that I have understood Feng Shui correctly and that Feng Shui is very personal, differs from person to person and helps a great deal if used correctly. I have some questions ' What happens if the refridgerator is in the wealth area…

This is a Snake Year and I am getting hammered financially. I am just wondering if I will be able to survive. Recently I just got a major source of money cut off by my boyfriend's son who was born in a Snake Year. It was dropped because my boyfriend who was born in a Tiger Year didn't think the son would do it. How bad is this Snake Year supposed to be for a Fire Boar (born 02/28/1947)?

Dear Panya, 1. Having the main door at one's death location is not ideal but is not `the end of the world' senario. Here, we consider that the house is the least suitable to the breadwinner. 2. Try to look at it from a `bigger' picture: 2.1 Check also the influence in your bedroom i.e. places you spent most of your time at. The above is only one puzzle i.e. the use of the Eight House Theory. 3. Even if you have not so good Eight House intangible forces, you can take advantage especially if the house has good Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 4. Here, since the main entrance is the `death' sector, I strongly recommend that you do a Flying Star analysis. What the Flying Star anal…

Dear Jumin, 1. Please refer to the destructive cycle chart under the Five elements concept: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm 2. Let's take a simple example:- 2.1 Case 1 : A Strong Metal person ================================== If one looks at the chart carefully; Metal destroys Wood. Here, imagine that one has a strong metal implement and a block of wood. In the hands of a scupture; this block of wood that costs a few dollars can be transformed into an object of art. Here, this piece of wood is worth much more. For example, cheap labour in China can convert this simple block of wood into a three-legged toad figurine. Where the block of wood cost…

Quote: Anonymous wrote: If my MBR door and Main door both have the same facing, is it true that I can't place my bedheadagainst the opposite wall facing the bedroom door (even if not in any direct alignment)? 1. Feng Shui is also based on commonsense. And often, many of us don't feel good especially when we lie on the bed and can see the bedroom door over-looking the main door. It is often this "feel-uneasy" factor that we should consider. As all these have more to do with "human luck" i.e. feel not so easy kinda of situation. Quote: Also, if a particular facing of the bed is good for my husband but not good for me, is there any remedy, assuming that's the only possi…

Dear Stacey, 1. What you are looking at is only based on `micro' Feng Shui. Although it is nice to get micro Feng Shui right, it is just part of holistic Feng Shui. (External environment is equally important). 2. Usually, in micro Feng Shui, the entire house Feng Shui is looked at. Not just whether the main door is facing southeast or southwest. Do also look at intangile force facing the bedroom area. 3. If the main door is really needed to be changed: it can be tilted to `kill two birds' with one stone i.e. away from SW and facing a good direction. However, usually a good date is chosen and the precise angled calcuated for the owner (to benefit him/her). Warmest Regards,…

Dear Sal, 1. Size of fountains are important. Equally important is the sound of vibrant water flow. If the fountain is just a `tiny' fountain of no less than 3 feet or 1 metre in length, it should be considered more a decorative piece where one would have to fork out money like any other decoration. When we talk about fountains or waterfalls (real or artificial) they should equally be vibrant i.e. sound of water and not just water flowing gently. Here, one should consider such fountains as mere decorative piece of `art'. For dragon figurines if it is on a fountain, it is best to let if face outwards of the home. Dragons should not face into the house. Dragon `qi' usuall…

Dear Anon, To be honest, over a few sentences, it is very difficult to pin-point what is the issue. Generally, if everything else remains the same and then when we shift to a new home; issues come-up. Most likely there are "wealth-leaks" in your existing home: For the home Feng Shui, the leak(s) could be due to Shapes and Forms: do stand inside the main door looking outwards... check for any "poison" arrows such as lone lamp posts etc... or any pointed roofs of neighbours aiming either towards the main entrance door or the windows. The other concern is how suitable the home is to the male breadwinner and other Compass School concerns and if possible the knowledge to …

Dear Sarina, Since you are refering to the Eight Associate Directions (Wealth and Marriage Sector). This is considered a static Theory, just like some of the those based on bagua (NW=Metal etc). Usually, these are placed on the least priority to focus on when trying to create a Feng Shui friendly location. Simply because they are not personalised to anyone, so it is unlikely to be of great impact to anyone. Also, usually we are more focus to try to fix problems that exists such as Sha Qi or Poison Arrow created from sharp corners of objects in the house which cuts into a person working in that area. This means that you always try to fix problems which you can see and not …

Dear Anon, I am glad you find this website useful. If you want to just understand Feng Shui `lightly' please do not hestitate to view the caricatures at http://mypictures.geomancy.net Most of them are educational and makes understanding Feng Shui Fun. Usually, it is best to use the compass readings based on an empty site. However, even in a empty site, make sure that the ground below also does not have metal. The best method is to walk the ground and take compass readings from several locations outside the building. For the Compass School Feng Shui: The Eight House Theory and Flying Star, as the name suggest, it is truly based on the Compass readings But if one is more i…

Dear Patti, In Traditional Feng Shui, the emphasis is on: 1. Shapes and Form. Where the bed should be placed in a `natural' shapes and form position. 2. For example, against a wall and if possible, the bed should not be on the same wall as the bedroom door. 3. Where possible, the bed should not share the same wall as the toilet wall especially the toilet bowl. 4. Ideally, there should not be a toilet linked to the master bedroom at all. In the past, toilets are located `outside' of the house. 5. But for modern day convenience, this no longer holds true. 6. I believe, what you mentioned is based on the Eight Aspirations or Eight Associations/Life Apiration concept where …

Dear Anooja, For both mountain and water star, one has to look carefully at the sector to see if it can be activated. For MS8, if it is at the north and if there is a wall behind it (not an open window), than the mountain star can be activated here. As opposed to the west. Since you had mentioned that west has a ws8. And ws8, goes with a water position not a mountain position. For example:- MS = 8 This is the current period - mountain star location. In your case, it is at North WS=8 In your case is at West. Or this is the water wealth location. Warmest Regards, Cecil

1. Yes, this is indeed, true! 2. In traditional Feng Shui, first check which sector the litter box is placed. In the Chinese trigram, each sector represents a specific person. And this may affect the health of that specific person and even ill-luck to that person. 3. Make sure that the litter is cleaned daily. And some Feng Shui practitioners recommend "a nice looking" or designer - branded type of litter bin - of such nature.. Quote: Salina G. wrote: I have two cats and would like to place their litter box in the basement. I know that regular toilet has to be placed in a certain direction of the house because it affects one's health. Will the placement of the litter …

Dear Kaushal, The Education, Scandal and Romance may be activated if you have a water element. Also, a water feature should not be activated here if it is not in the living room or open space area. You can only active the star if the area is neutralise (eg. your 6 coins) and if it falls in a bedroom with the direction having no windows. Please see extract in the next para. -- Extracted from Activating Mountain Star from the Flying Star Report -- The mountain star works only if an object is either hung on the wall at the location or something with mass is placed high on a shelf at this wall. -- End of Extract -- I will not go into details. Use the online Flying St…

Dear MK, MK MK wrote: May I know how to calculate the 5 elements? Frankly, this is rather complicated as you need to determine the number of elements you have for each elements, assign the element strengthen, and take into consideration the combinations and changes in elements. The simple way is take the total element and number of each element. Factor in at least the weightage of total element strength and individual element weightage and you should have a fair percentage breakdown. Dear Agnes, Nowadays, due to the highly commercialization of Feng Shui, every object that can be sold has been given a `tag' as a Feng Shui enhancer or cure or neutralising agent. For example, even in Chinese beliefs such as the three legged toad has been said to bring `good fortune'. Sometimes these objects are sold for more than US$50 or more and I am not too sure who has the better fortune? The seller or the poor buyer who had just departed with US $50 or more? Please see below:- Alternatively, some FS practitioners advise the use of grand father clock i.e the tick-tock.. effect (as adding the sound of metal). Wooden wind chimes can be used to enhance a sector that…

Dear Ching Hsia, 1. To be frank, it is always easier to consult a reliable Feng Shui practitioner to do all the legwork for you. 2. But of course, you can do it on your own but would have to consider all the bits and pieces and like a zig saw puzzle piece them together. There are occassionally, the OOps! I think I have made a `mistake' in one or the other. Mistake may happen such as not considering a fundamental situation and the Oops turn up. For example, the house looks perfect but suddenly, without realising `oops' I forgot to check that the toilet is at the centre. Something like this. Please see below:- Each house has its own birth chart and a 3 year old house or…

Hi Henry, Generally a wind chime should have hung on the outside rather than inside. However, please take note about wind chimes as different number or rods or the type of materials the rods are made of can greatly have an impact if hung at the wrong location of the house. Usually wind chimes can be used as a cure to cure different problems. But if hung at wrong locations where the elements are not needed etc, may cause more problems than good. Dear Anon, 1. From a Feng Shui perspective, it is more important to understand the flow of qi within this house. 2. This is where, a layout plan is important. A layout plan can help us to `visualise' the flow of qi within the home. Instead of relying totally on the idea of three windows in a straight. 3. Questions asked (or posed) are: 3.1 Are the windows spaced quite far from each other. Usually, the distance between all three windows in a straight line can be quite far. And in theory, it may seem that qi can flow straight in and out. But, in reality qi often meander and perhaps only a small percent is `leak' out if any. 3.2 It is good to look at the furniture in each …

1. The idea is to find the "center of gravity" of a home. This "center of gravity" is one of the key success factors in drawing or drafting especially the Flying Star "pie chart" commonly used to analyse the "birth-chart" of a home. 2. For novices, if a house has too many indents or protrusions, then one may consider "cutting-out" the outline of the layout plan. And use paste this on to a card-board. Here, again the idea is to cut-out the outline of the home. And balancing a pin or nail to located the centrepoint. 3. IF POSSIBLE, the garage and backyard i.e. non-living areas should NORMALY be excluded. Again it depends on the layout plan as often part of the garage prot…

1. Some people have the opinion that since (the person's) home is a period 7 home; they were "told" that their homes MUST fly to Period 8 in order to obtain positive luck. 2. In real life situations, some homes have expensive renovations done or the quality of build is at the premium or luxury level. And to make major renovations is both costly and not practical. 3. Thus whether the Flying Star chart is a Period 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8, one can still see if one can tap the beneficial benefits UNDER PERIOD 8. 4. For example, I had mentioned countless of times, that if you are applying Flying Star, then check to see if the following Flying Star numbers CAN or MAY be activa…

Dear Diane, As there are various FS theories, it depends on the application of these theories: 1. Shapes and Forms. Under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, both the ground floor and upper floor(s) should conform to this. Especially the placement of beds/ study table/furniture etc... 2. Eight House Theory. You can apply this to both the ground floor and upper floors(s) i.e. good to spent time at good sectors and/or (a bonus) facing a good direction. 3. Flying Star Theory. Other than to activate a mountain star, concepts of Flying Star can be applied at different levels. For mountain star (if it is found) should only be activated at the ground level of such a two storey house. It …
