Dear Robert, For 1st timers, it is best to go for a `pie-chart' 8 wedges method instead of the grid. If the home is rectangular, than the 9 grid, can easier be applied to. Flying star chart can be used to analyse a singular room or an entire home. Since your purpose is to analyse your own home, than, it is suggested that you try to find the `centre' of gravity of your home. And from this centrepoint, align the north-south compass direction to the template. For example, you can review the resources for the Eight House Chart or Template: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm The metholody is quite similar to the Flying star chart. Warmest Regards, Cecil Regards.

Dear Master Cecil: I have taken a look at the traits of the houses that are able to suck wealth from neighbors at http://www.geomancy.net/products/po-hunting/po-hunting-faq.htm I become very confused. It looks like an end house is in a receiving position for wealth from houses ahead of it at both sides. Are the corners of wealth-losing houses poison arrows pointing to the wealth-receiving house? Please help shedding light to my confusion. Thank you. Regards, Jen

Dear Laura, I must admit that I find myself somewhat perplexed by this situation. I apologize for expressing this sentiment. This forum currently contains over 11,000 messages. If you take the time to attend two specialized conferences—such as Photo Tours of Interests (which includes photographs), Singapore Property, or Can or Cannot Buy—I am confident that your message will be well-received. It is my belief that messages shared in General conferences, such as Discuss:: Free Advice (General Feng Shui), should provide you with tangible examples. I earnestly hope that the standard of research is not one that requires individuals to be excessively guid…

Dear Mandy, Please refer to this resource on how to determine the centrepoint, etc... http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-house1.htm There are many (many) Schools of Feng Shui. And your geomancy master is not wrong. In the past, ancient times, getting the main door is simple since, many of the homes / with court-yard are rectangular in shape and where the main gate facing is, the main door facing is often in the same direction. In ancient times, there is no such thing as so elaborate a building with honeycombs of various `facing' homes. Given this senario, standing at the centrepoint to the main door utilises the concept of "centre-of-gravity" and the flux a…

For example, in the past, I had to literally `put-down' every other work to help these people. The faster I help analyse each case, it does not seem to be appreciated. Dear Mandy, Based on the facing direction it should be NW. And sitting direction is SE. Please use the free tools which is available in the website for finding the sleeping direction. For the stove, most practitioners often consider the female of the house - and it should preferably face her good direction. (Bearing in mind the flying star chart influence i.e. if a specific sector: some practitioners say is the North or NW, it is best to avoid the true compass directions else it may `burn' auspiciousness.). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Or else, do let me know e.g. via private e-mail, what is your Flying star sector. And I can advise you to leave it on or not necessarily to place it on for the next year. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Tracey, For homes that are built or had a major renovation under Period 8, do look out for water star #8. Since, water can be used (often in a landed property) to activate this water star - for wealth purposes. It would be even be excellent if #6 is present under this configuration. For example at a sector: water star is = #8 and base star is = #6 (big metal) With this two combination of 6, 8, water can be used to form a auspicious flow. However, under the Flying star chart one must be extra careful of a reverse in this position where: water star is not #8 but instead, mountain star is #8. And in the above equation; Mountain star = #8 base star = #6 this 8, 6 combi…

Dear Jisun, You can use this manual method to check your actual Western to Lunar calendar:- http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/ayear/a60-80.htm This in general, if you are born on or between 2 Feb 1965 to 20 Jan 1966 under the Chinese zodiac, you are considered as a Wood-Snake But if you are born on or between 21 Jan 1966 to 8 Feb 1967 you are considered as a Fire-Horse. You can also make use of the free reports at http://www.geomancy-online.com to generate your correct lunar chart by simply keying-in or input your Western date of birth. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. Dear Caroline, Further to what I had mentioned:- Make sure that the corner of the pond is not aimed at "vital areas" e.g. main door entrance. In fact, in general Feng Shui, many practitioners would recommend the placement of the water feature on the (left) side of the garden. Since the right side is said to bring with it extra-marital affairs. (Where one stands inside the house looking outwards). Contrary to popular belief, it should not be placed directly in-front of the main entrance. Or blocking it. Again IN GENERAL, many FS practitioners would favour the placement of a water position (in harmony with the compass direction.) Thus, many FS practitioners favour the p…

Dear Anon, Further to what I had mentioned, most of us are aware of the Holy trinity of Luck. Often, the third dimension: Human Luck or Man Luck can pull down our luck especially if there are frequent quarrels in a home or unhappiness. Dear Vikas, Apologies, I have to read between the lines, as I really do not like, going thru a chunk of information, that has too many values (computation values) for analysis. In Feng Shui, there are some misconceptions on the locations of North and South. Some would totally advise avoiding placing fire at the North. Since fire and water does not mix. Alternatively, at the South, some say cannot have water positions in this location. In my opinion, this is a wrong conception. In many cases, some Feng Shui practitioners have (even by mistake) allowed water to be at the south and fire at the north and vice versa. This interaction between the two, is contrary to the above p…

Dear Cecil, Please see below: I've told my brother that the lay out is inauspicious. However, he argued that he had consulted with a trustworthy psychic that the land was very auspicious. He added that most houses at the same side of the street have the same characteristic (lower than the street with basement) and many rich landlords stays there. The left neighbour has the same interior and exterior design because they're semi-detached houses. The left owner stays there too and is very rich. It looks like there is a river nearby "hug" the location. All I can do for him is suggest not to rent too long. Thanks in advance. Regards, Wasis

Further to what I had mentioned, Does it matter how large the Free Space Is? Another case study of centerpoint with clear space..... Attached, please find another illustration showing "clear space" at the centrepoint or flux of the home: 1. Although the toilet is quite close to the centrepoint (fortunately) IT IS NOT at the centrepoint. The saying goes "a (fortunate) miss is as good as a mile". 2. The centrepoint is clear space. And if we look at the layout plan, it is thus advantages for this centrepoint to be clear space. Where, air-entry points from nearly any windows of the house can bring in or bring out air. Be it from the balcony, main entrance, kitchen, bedrooms …

Dear Felecia, Usually, the major cause of concern for a landed property is to avoid underground water or sewerage pipes running under the bed. Here, a German study has found that there are high incidence of cancer where beds are located immediately above these pipes running below ground. Frankly, for the Chinese (especially) many Chinese FS practitioners would often, recommend not to buy the site. (Me included). This is because, the graves are at the frontage of the home. It would be better if the graves are (at least) at the back of the home. Given that your husband has cancer, it would not be too favourable to have such a home. For those who are interested in buildi…
