Dear Lisa, In general, (I really have to say this) because, one has to be physically present to analyse the site even though you have given some description of the site: Here are some guidelines:- 1. Is this site an existing burial site. If it is an existing, can you find out more if this site has ever being Feng Shuied before? 2. If the question above is Yes (it has been Feng Shuied before) than try to find out who actually Feng Shuied the site? We do not want the site to be said to be Feng Shuied but the result is it is " Feng Shuied " by people from the Black Hat Sect. 3. If it has been Feng Shui especially a Chinese Teochew Master, then usually you can be rest assured…

Dear Julie, Please see below:- In my opinion, this has to do more with `commonsense' approach than Feng Shui: Generally, a `solid' door is preferred as it is considered `theft' protection. A door with glass was considered good because it was felt that it could be broken in. Alternatively, especially in high-rise buildings, building code require e.g. escape doors to have minimum fire retardation of 1/2 an hour or more (depending on the door). Therefore, in my opinion, overall, it does not really mean that a door with glass panels is totally inauspicious. And in my opinion, can still be used without changing it. Many interior decorators recommend mirrors to reflect…

Dear Anon, 1. If you have the time, please go thru this resource:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm 2. If one is applying Compass School of Feng Shui, if one looks a it carefully, for example if you house or apartment or many others that belong to Period 7 (1984 to 2003), most of such houses / apartments has bad influence at the East and South. Given this very general idea/information, most of the time, even if we take the door direction `wrongly' - this is very subjective: all the time the base # number plus the yearly and monthly base # will remain the same. The only thing that change is the #mountain #water. 3. Overall, and very generally, mo…

Dear Cheui May, 1. Since you are aware of your element and strength, using it is more accurate means of looking at the compatiblitiy of the home and the individual sectors of your home. 2. The reason is because, when one looks at the Eight House Theory, we generally use only the YEAR of birth to derive our personal GUA (KUA) number. However, under Pillars of Destiny, we use the YEAR; MONTH; DAY and (if the TIME of birth is available) use all 4 Pillars = Eight Elements (Stem and branches) to deduce our true element and strength. 3. Since the common denominator is the Five Elements, we know that each element or each sector represents an element e.g. North = Water element; S…

Dear Charles, It is best to look at two charts and see which is the better chart. As the Flying Star or the birth chart of the house differs in each door direction. Yes, if you are `changing' the door or using a backdoor to become a main door, then, you can do so. 1. However, this existing backdoor should not be smaller than your present main door. 2. It should open inwards, 3. If the main door has two doors (left and right) - it is best to have this configuration. 4. The new `main door' should also have the house number placed on it. 5. Preferably an auspicious date be chosen for the work to be carried out. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear A B, Under traditional Feng Shui, many FS practitioners would recommend that the bedroom colours be in harmony with the element of the child. In addition, the bed should be placed in a favourable position. The study table should face the child's good direction. (All these come under the Eight House theory). The understanding of Yin and Yang concept is equally important. For the bedroom especially for an adult, the bedroom should normally be more `Yin' than yang. As this should be the place of rest for an adult. Unless the adult is taking up studies and staying e.g. in a dormitory. Where, there should be a balance between yin and yang. For a child's bedroom (who is g…

Dear Rich, In my view, it is generally advisable to refrain from applying the concepts of the Eight Aspirations or Life associations, such as SW equating to the romance sector, etc. Moreover, if the toilet happens to obstruct our romantic endeavors, it signifies a definitive end; we are indeed in a precarious situation! Let us consider an alternative viewpoint. Frequently, the toilet transcends the mere notion of the "THRONE" or the WC, which I refer to as the equivalent of the toilet bowl. In reality, numerous master bathrooms not only feature showers but some even include jacuzzis and bathtubs! Envision this! I firmly believe that in this world,…

Dear Anon, To Chinese, the red banner symbolises good luck. Actually, the best "counter" is (for the Chinese) is also hang a similar red banner on your front door. There is no religious implication especially if it is a plain read cloth (no issue with the elaborate tassle). Ideally, both parties hanging it - will equate to "square-one". Under the destructive cycle of the Five elements concept: the most effective element to control fire is water e.g. blue, black or grey. But it would be inauspiciousto haveespecially black coloured e.g. carpet matetc.... But blue carpet can be considered. Under the productive cycle of the Five elements another element that can help dra…

Dear Mich, Honestly, to ways of looking at Feng Shui: Shapes and Forms and Compass School Feng Shui. Under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, few people would place a shower under the stairs. Perhaps, a toilet next to it is quite common. However, some of your questions can be commented under Shapes and Forms. But, truly either you should seek expert help or if you know Compass School Feng Shui, best to do a Flying Star chart to analyse especially locations for the dining area, toilet and even kitchen area. Otherwise, to answer your questions is like picking up a dice and rolling it on the table. Whatever comes up is the answer! Not so reliable rite? Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sophia, Feng Shui is about Earth Luck. But most of the time Human Luck is equally important. Human luck often relates to family ties / family bonding / relationships and yes, hobbies. Since this is your husband's past-time or hobby, like many others, it is perfectly all right to collect them as this brings a good sense of feeling for him. Is also indirectly good for the family. 13. Dear Anon, 1. Frankly, yours is not the only situation where there is a `big difference' between your husband's Eight House and your own. 2. Majority of the time, half the battle is won if one has a good Shapes and Form Feng Shui of the home. In some cases, a good Shapes and Form is all that matter for a Quantum Leap in `LUCK'. 3. The Eight House has its limitations. It is also not used to compare one spouse with another spouse. 4. Proper comparison is by using Pillars of Destiny once each person's element and strenght is determine. 5. Even if the comparsion is unfavourable, it is again not "the end of the world". Here, once one know of one's proper Pillars of Destiny "ma…

Dear Wasis, Frankly, Feng Shui is not meant for curing such situations since there are external factors involved. It can only help in bed placement but this is less of a priority than other methods especially through science. If science cannot really help, some go for other alternative medicines (provided they are suitable e.g. some people bring to the patient animals such as a `friendly' dog or to some one known to the patient to talk to them. In some siutations, (most probably not for this case), some use acupunture. Warmest Regards, Cecil Regards, Wasis

However, as your description is not too clear, I can't really provide advise:- 1. When u mentioned your relative's house, is it a landed property? Or an apartment with window or gap in the master bedroom or main door entrance or otherwise? 2. When you mentioned a gap of 50cm of two near by buidings, currently cannot visualise what are their position in relation to your relative's home. Perhaps, you can provide a sketch to this. 3. However, if one stands at the gap and find gushes of air `forced' thru this into your relatives' home, then this can be sha…

If we look at a Chinese luo pan, we will notice that the outer shell is a rectangle. 3. While the inner is a rotating circle metal piece. As many of u know, circle represents Metal element. 4. A luo pan consists of: Outer square piece represented by the earth Inner metallic dial represented by Heaven. 5. In many of the cures, we therefore, see that Heaven Qi or Heaven Metal Qi is used to neutralise bad earth elements. 6. Therefore, metal, is the chief ingredient. Dear Niteka, Currently, to the best of my knowledge, the two main holistic method of Feng Shui are: 1. Traditional School of Feng Shui originated from China. Here, the Shapes and Form and Compass Schools: Eight House and Flying Star. 2. Nine Star Ki. Which is a variant of the Compass School of Feng Shui more popularly adopted in Japan and applied by UK practitioners such as Jon Sandifier. 3. Although Nine Star Ki is one and the same as e.g. Flying Star, it is on its own a holistic approach. Where it can be used to analyse person to a home. 4. Dear Kathleen, Yes, too much light e.g. from glass walls have a negative effect. As it creates too much `Yang energy'. Unlike normal walls that can absord some of the `yang energy'; too much glass relects and bounce light causing an unbalanced effect. Ideally, renovation should be done to correct this. If this is not possible, then plants can be used to counter or absorb some of it. But if the panels of glass covers a large area, more plants may be needed (and this may not be feasible). Alternatively, one may have to consider hanging posters or painting on each side of the wall to neutralise the dispersion of light. (The ideal situation is to renovation as mentioned earl…
