Dear Daria, Please see the attachment. I used Smart Draw software to give a simple illustration: 1. Please see a sample `North' marking. It may not be exactly true North. But this is merely a sample. 2. I had placed a True compass direction's grid on the `centre-of-gravity' of the layout plan. This method is known as the True compass `pie-chart' method. Another method is to properly mark out the `zones' for each compass direction. Much like the sample `zone' shown in PURPLE for the North compass direction. Or, often, seek opinion of your spouse and even family members as to which colour; everyone like or prefer. In my opinion, the amount of light filtering thru to this long corridor should be taken into consideration. For example, if the long corridor is often `dark', then, it makes more sense to use a lighter coloured overlay carpet or carpet that can bounce off more light. This is also symbolic of a bird flying freely at the front of the house. For many Feng Shui practitioners, they are worried about `opening' the white tiger's mouth (wrongly).
