Dear Rose, *Joke* Perhaps, why there is not much resource in a dentist's waiting room is a real human issue. As all Feng Shui practitioners are (human - flesh and blood); I can say for myself, I dread going to a dentist myself! Erh.. can I excuse myself from this topic:( Jokes aside, Feng Shui can be applied in a dental clinic. I will try to recollect some of the important points for you: 1. Clinic Logo You can mention that often, the investor (often the dentist himself) sets up his/her own practise. For the purpose of this message, when I refer to his / him (I am refering to him or her) else I may inadvertently anger ladies listening in!. A dentist may consult a geomance…

Dear Anon, 1. The test for a real treat is : for us to stand inside of our house - Main door and windows and look out directly. If we do not see a threat slicing straight into our house, this is normally not a threat. 2. However, if it is an angle of a house and it `cuts' into our house, this is considered a threat. 3. For office buildings, reflective glass can be considered as a threat, since it reflects or deflect light. 4. For the home, a threat can seeminly come from the walls of another house. For example, if the afternoon sun, shines onto this wall, and from our window, we get a really bad reflective glare, this can be considered as deflected, sha qi. A simple solut…

Dear Vun Fook, 1. I really appreciate if users could go thru some of the past resourses in this forum. 2. In particular, I have emphasised many times of the three step-approach: 2.1 What is the purpose of each concept 2.2 What are it's strengths 2.3 What are it's weaknessess 3. Understand Shapes and Forms and Compass School Feng Shui and ba zi, first. Try to do a search on each of what you had mentioned, below and find out there purpose, strengths and weakness. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. The key success factor in-fact has to do with: location, location and location. This is where the house / apartment is situated in an excellent location, first. 2. It is good to go thru some of my previous forum messages. Try to search for things like: " quantum leap "; to understand what excellent homes mean. 3. Therefore, Para 1 and 2, comes first. Next, it is good to have a suitable house/apartment. Please use the free Eight House tools available at: geomancy-online.com to generate reports to analyse the home. 4. For those who are new, should read some of the resources: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Kochakorn, 1. Frankly, as you have mentioned, it is all a matter of our individual taste. 2. Most of the time, plates of china are often not too dark (perhaps this is my personal preference). But there is generally no issue with regards to Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil I'm getting a

I am moving to an acreage where the address can be any even number between 55200 and 55298. Since the 552 are considered bad numbers, what last 2 numbers of the address could I use that would counteract the 552 at the start of the address?

Dear Guest, 1. The rationale why, the "numbers game" is not used in Feng Shui is; as you had correctly pointed out: it is subject to so many different interpretations! 2. For some race (and dialect) groups, it could be based on phoentic sounds. 3. Since, numbers are to be interpretted so widely or diversly, it would seem furtile to argue which numbers are better. 4. Even in numerology, there are just too many schools. And where do we begin? 5. More importantly, if it is from a Feng Shui angle, often, it is not the number of the unit but rather: the external environment, the site, the building that plays an important part. 5.1 For example, we often find homes with `nice' n…

Dear Anon, For a strong metal person, the most favourable element is: Water (blue, black or gray). The next two favourable elements are Wood (green or brown) and Fire (red, pink or purple). For a strong wood person, the most favourable element is Fire (red, pink or purple) as fire element will help to exhaust wood. As fire element is increased, earth (yellow, cream or beige) can be used. Next best favourable element is metal, as metal inturn will help to exhaust earth. Actually, you can use the free comparison report at www.geomancy-online.com to determine these. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1.It is always best to understand each concept or theory in order to have a good grasp or proper foundation to help us achieve success. 2. The first thing that comes to my mind when you mentioned Gua or Kua is: 2.1 What is it based on? When we first try to apply this we need to provide an input. For Gua or kua numbers : we merely need our year of birth. However, contrast this carefully with the inputs needed for ba zi analysis. For ba zi (Pillars of destiny) we not only need to have the Year of birth, but also at least the Month, Day of birth. And if we can, try to also use our hour of birth. 2.2 So what is so different with these two concepts? We can tell at a…

Dear Anon, 1. Drawing a parallel, nowadays, also, this type of Feng Shui is too general to be effective. It is like the notion of North = career sector; SW = romance sector. 2. Although: West is associated with metal; East with wood; there is not much this can tell us. 3. A more accurate interpretation is to apply Flying Star Feng Shui. This is because each sector has three variables: the mountain star; the water star and the base star. 4. For example, the Flying Star analysis is based on the birth chart of each home. Here, one needs to know the year the house was born or had a major renovation. The direction of the house. 4.1 Senario 1: ============== If this (west) sect…

Dear Anon, 1. Often, this has more to do with psychology (or beliefs) then Feng Shui. 2. For example, many of us, cannot stand the sight of blood or `cruelty'. In nature, fishes, often caught live fishes and eat them. 3. Other than the above, or for the person who feeds the fish, if one is conscious of such activity, then, one may feel unease. 4. This category of activity should be classified more of a `Ren cai'(human / man luck activity). 5. Often we have `dealings' and communication with our loved ones, friends and at work. 5. We can draw a parallel to what you had mentioned to (extreme cases). Often, we hear that a criminal e.g. one that had taken someone else life. S…

Dear Utpal, 1. Although, red can be associated with the `fire' element, this is only one perspective or point of view. 2. Far from this single view or vocab that red = fire; red alternatively also represents auspiciousness for the Chinese. 3. Understanding the Five Elements Concept:- 3.1 Besides what I mentioned under Para 2, everything that is tied in red, therefore is symbolic of `auspiciousness'. 3.2 The Six coins cure and the red string or ribbon: For the six coins cure: Six represents `big metal'. The square hole at the centre of this six coins represents `earth' element. Earth element helps to strengthen metal element. Since the arrangement of six coins represent …

I have a small kitchen and recently added a small metal shelving unit. Due to space constraints I had to put my cats' food and water bowls on the bottom shelf. I am concerned that the shelf above the "feeding shelf" will act as a beam or otherwise create negative feng shui for the cats. Any advice?

Dear Carlos, 1. In my opinion, this may not be the correct way to solve your problems. 2. A Ba Gua mirror is often used to either: 2.1 Ward of evil and/or 2.2 Neutralise Sha Qi (poison arrows). (For example, a house located at a `T' junction. 3. Often, it is placed outside the main entrance door or above the window of a house. 4. Otherwise, it is best to check out what is wrong i.e. are there any leaks externally or internally in the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, It would be nice to select an auspicious date. But if things has past, it is best to forget about it. Anyway, the date may not be very inauspicious or inauspicious. It could instead be average or mixed blessing dates. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master Cecil Lee, Your reply had been really exciting. On this similar subject, i would like also to touch the subject on palm reading, fortune telling, and face reading. All these are related to one person life destiny.Sometime, when we look for a fortune teller in which they look into the palm reading and analyse the person face and gave quite amazing reply. And also,we do hear people say about life is fated. So,can FS change one person fate? Plus, when we apply FS to improve our life with the changes occur ...what would be the relation effect with palm reading, fortune telling, and face reading.Thank you for sharing your thought on this subject. Dear Master Cecil: Thank you for your reply to my questions regarding posts in my front yard. Now, my question is what I should do with it? The size of this utility post (where electricity wires and telephone cables are) is 6 inches by 6 inches and less than 3 feet high. Standing at my front door, this post looks like slicing into my front entrance and I cannot remove this post (utility work inside). Should I plant shrubs around this post to block my view of this post? Or should I grow climbing vines, such as trumpet vine, around the post? Please advise. Thank you very much. Regards, Anon

Dear Peck Wun, In my opinion, if it is a small hole; and unintentional, usually there is no issue, here. However, on the safe side, (touch wood) - [This is not Feng Shui - but common beliefs) if you incur any problems, and if you have an altar at home, simply light up three jost sticks and pray towards the grand duke direction asking for forgiveness. After this, buy some flowers and lime (cut the lime) and place them into a basin; bathe and after bathing, pour the water onto your head down to the back. For more information, do a search in this website for " lime " or "rose ". [ Have mentioned, in detail what to do with it. ] Warmest Regards, Cecil

Sorry cannot get thru to "free-advice@forum.geomancy.net", my email keeps bouncing back hence I sent to this email address instead. Hope its alright. Dear Cecil If a person stays in an apartment that is high up, say 20th floor with no possible poison arrows but also seems to have no "protection" since it is like a stand alone point block and nearby shorter blocks are not very near. Is this no good? I've read in your website that its better that the back of the house should have another higher block as a "backing" and sides should have blocks to act as protection similar to the white tiger and the dragon. Is that so for apartment blocks? If not then what happens? Consideri…

Dear Peck Wun, Please see below:- In matter what, your home is still a Period 7 apartment. Period 7 spans between 1984 to 2003. Therefore, even if there are several renovations or major renovations done e.g. in 2001, 2002 or even this year; your apartment will still be a Period 7 apartment/house. Where possible try not to do any work at South South-Weat or 210 degrees. If this is at true compass direction South-West, then it is still ok. If you have a compass, try to locate the centerpoint of your home. Stand there and confirm that the location is not South South-West 210 degrees. No, this is minor and no issue. Unless, you need to remove the aircon unit moun…

Dear Master Cecil: I have read the web page at cecilcompass.htm, which is very helpful. I have posted my questions regarding the unique situating of my house before, and I was to told to provide a sketch of the house. I do not have a scanner to upload the layout. I hope the depict that is provided following my questions would suffice. I need your expertise in analyzing the center point and direction of my house: 1. There is a good size pillar that is off but very close to the center point of the house. This pillar is from ground up all the way to the ceiling. Although the pillar is not exactly at the crossing point of the two diagonal lines of the rectangle, could it be t…

Dear Dragana, Please see below:- Given this senario, often, when one visits a so called Feng Shui website, they always sell such (commercial) things. The only difference I find between the Mandarin ducks vs the three legged toad is that: perhaps, the pair of mandarin ducks appeal more to westerners. While many Chinese: in Singapore, many of the lower (middle) income Chinese e.g. living in three or four room flats have such a three legged toad. All these are fool hardy, given that the money goes into the pocket of the seller. Frankly, should treat all these as decoration. If one likes say a painting, it can be pleasing to one's eyes. In fact, most of the material …
