Dear Wasis, In my opinion, it is best not to practise Feng Shui in relation to a direction and its related colour or element. The rationale is because, it is too general without considering the birth chart of a house. Instead, you can perhaps look at the two theories:- 1. Protect, protect, protect. Stand a the main door and look out of the house. Are there any threats? If so, appropriate cure(s) should be used. Without relating to whether, e.g. North = water. As sometimes, two potted plants can be used to neutralise a poison arrow etc... 2. Flying Star Feng Shui Use this instead to look at the sector. As it involves three element relations and the 81-combinations of the …

Dear Jen, 1. The worst location to touch or disturb from 1 February 2003 (1st day of Lunar New Year) is South at 220 degrees. 2. This direction is where the Grand Duke of Jupiter is suppose to be sitting. And it is very inauspicious to disturb or touch him. It may bring several years of bad luck. 3. The 3-Killings location The 3 killings location is directly opposite the grand duke location. Therefore if Grand Duke is sitting at 220 degrees, than this coming Goat year 2003, the 3-killings is located at 40 degrees. Please see below:- Note: True magnetic compass direction at 40 degrees. Here, do not do any renovations. No. Traditional Feng Shui Compass School uses …

Dear Anon, 1. No, what you mentioned is not the correct application of Feng Shui. 2. In Feng Shui, we must determine, whether is it personalised for the individual? 2.1 If one look at it closely, even Shapes and Form School analysis is personalised to the individual or the specific home. For example, if there is a corner of a building aimed at your home, the poison arrow is aimed at that specific house. Thus it does not mean that because of the poison arrow aimed at the above house, other houses e.g. a neighbours would automatically get the Sha Qi. Most likely not. If so, it may, instead be at a `T' junction and thus have a totally different poison arrow. If we scrutini…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I realised that kitchen is not good to place at the north. Generally, if you look from it at a fundamental level. North=Water, so a kitchen in the North will be like Fire vs Water which clash. However, frankly, this is only one level of looking at it. I mean given that there are only 8 directions in any layout, at some point some layout will certainly have kitchen located in the North sector. So does it mean that everyone who has the kitchen at North will be doomed? Of course, not. This is because the overall houselayout vs the house flying star luck isequally important. If the house is able to take advantage of the frontage or external Qi…

Correction: No (2) question should have read 5,1,7 (mountain, base, water) instead of 5,7,7. BTW, is it bad to locate a bedroom in this sector? as the 7 metal controls the bad 5 earth or do I still need to add metal. Apologies for any inconvenience. Awaiting your advice. Keith C

In my opinion, if it is just a very short "disturbance" e.g. just one or two nails to a wall, is STILL OK (acceptable).

Hello ? hoping someone can help? We have a sw1 facing period 8 cottage. My question is regarding the north this year? Firstly is it the square segment of the bagua we use to determine exact north location or do we use a compass for finer accuracy? Secondly what element do I work with here.. 6 mountain. 9 water. 4 central palace. And all that with visiting annual 5 star? It is currently cream and white....too much metal? Should I introduce any water/blue...black to weaken metal? (6 mountain star=metal...nw=metal) don't want to muddy waters with water and earth (visiting annual 5). Would wood strengthen the fire element number 9 facing star....thereby enhancing 5…

Dear Janice, 1. The idea of a mirror is not so of Feng Shui but rather a belief. 2. Here, the belief is that when one sleeps, a person's spirit (is said) to wonder out of the body. And it could `face' a shock if it sees itself in a mirror. 3. However, from poll results as found under this URL: http://sg.geomancy.net/poll/poll.pl The two interesting results for these two polls:- Do you have a TV set in the bedroom facing your bed? The results of this poll is shown below:- http://sg.geomancy.net/poll/poll.pl?id=032410115238&view=results If you do not cover the TV sets, do you have sleep problems? http://sg.geomancy.net/poll/poll.pl?id=032410115548&view=results 3. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I got a plot with cut on North West Side. What could be the remedy for that? For a house, you still can correct with mirrors or creating a rock or garden feature to symoblically cover the missing corner. That is when you view it from the top view, it looks like the missing corner is covered. Generally, you can't correct a missing plot of land. Anyway, even if the plot of land is odd, as long as your house isn't odd shaped or missing, it should be fine. Hope that helps. Dear Anita, It is good to `properly' examine the `missing corner': 1. Normally, it is not considered a `missing corner' if the area of the missing corner is not greater than 33.3 percent of the entire sector. A sector implies cutting the entire house into 9 equal squares. Within each of the squares, please examine if the missing corner exceeds 33.3 percent. If not, it is quite safe. 2. For a landed property: You can outside of the house, `draw' an outline of the missing corner. For example, using landscaping such as a grass outline or use plants to `create' this border. Normally, at the corner of this sector, many FS practitioners would advise having a lamp to light out t…

Thanks For Your Reply, I read your reply to a question on a West facing pond or water fountain, Not a good area to place one.Could you please tell me if it will be ok to put a pond with a water fall in the North West corner? Also there will be a bridge to walk over the pond. This pond will be between large Bamboo and a rubber tree .Should the water from the water fall be running toward the house or away from it?Thanks again for this great web site. Diana

1. I am not going to go into all the nitty gritty details. 2. As you have read and understood that a kitchen especially a stove at NW = "Fire at Heaven's gate". 3. In addition, some books will say that based on the "current" trigram, HW = Heaven hexagram or "Heaven's Luck". 4. Thus having a stove at NW will affect Para 2 and 3. (Full-stop).

Dear Madan, Thank you for bring up this interesting report. My comments are as follows:- Lets first look at the three Periods of the Lunar Calendar 6th Period or Yang Metal - 1964 to 1983 7th Period or Yin Metal - 1984 to 2003 8th Period or Yang Earth - 2004 to 2023 If one can notice, that Period 8th is significant because we are entering a period generally of Strong Earth (Yang Earth). The observations could be true because Yang Earth unlike other elements has a lesser influence. Since earth element is strong throughout and prevalent. There was this study done on I-ching prediction some years back and a graph was plotted and the i-ching graph went into `infinity'. As thi…

These are some considerations: 1. Frankly, in Feng Shui; the realistic approach is applying Holistic Approach. 2. Here it is about Feng Shui Triage Proper trouble-shooting is required. 3. Logically, a house has many sectors. And frankly what makes it so sure that only your kitchen has problems. Sometimes one may be "barking up the wrong tree" if there are more than one problem or leaks.

Dear Christine, Appreciate if you can give us a better idea the reason why you are worried about your kitchen in the North East. More importantly, priority should be given to the Kitchen based on the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. For example, the stove should have a solid back and not against a window. Since the stove is on the north wall, it can still be located at the north wall. However, the only caution here is that since it is at the north wall, you should not place a water position facing the stove. The sink can be at the west wall. Again it should not too close to any fire element and keep a distance for it. Other than the above, I believe there is no issue …

1. Please note that if you want to ask questions based on "time dimension" in Feng Shui; then the closest concept is that of the Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. Here, if you know or at least read about the concept; you still have to draw up a Flying Star chart SPECIFIC to that home or office you are referring to. 3. Only after doing so, then you can plot in your yearly flying star chart. 4. Thus, your question is like those G.I.G.O. If not sure what is G.I.G.O. please make an effort to search for this term in this forum's top-left frame. 5. In addition, I really wonder, are you seriously in checking out your toilet yearly. If so, might as well, frankly, shut the toilet down per…

Dear Allison, 1. In my opinion, once one bought the house and unless there is a drastic move (most of the time impossible or impractial to change the location) of the toilet. 2. There is really not much one can do. However, as a comfort: usually, if the toilets are in particular located with at least of the walls sharing an external wall; this is considered overall acceptable. 3. Here, contrast this to worst-off senarios like toilets at the centrepoint (the reason why it is better to have the toilet sharing an external wall - thus impossible in such a situation to have the toilet at the centrepoint of the house). 4. Usually the concept of the Eight House is that if one do…

1. The lucky wealth star #8 falls in the facing direction of the NW. Thus homes that have FACING direction of NW should benefit from it. It is particuarly auspicious for those in the "earth" and "metal" industries. 1.1 Reference to the element and occupation; please refer to : http://talk.geomancy.net 2. However, do avoid renovations at this sector; else will affect the wealth luck. 3. In addition, at work or when investing; avoid making hurried decisions. For those with young children: avoid playing with roller skates (as may be prone to injuries to the arms and legs - bones) Note: for 2011: the worst facing directions are : East (where five yellow & Tai Sui - meet…
