General Help

Seek General Advice from Master Cecil Lee

  1. Dear Anon, This sounds very familiar recently. This is because nearly everyone who got their keys at The Eden condo at Tampines are `cursing' their developer. Fortunately, many of those who got their keys in the first phase - several of my clients there, are fortunate to have the kitchen at the `South' location. If the kitchen is at the south, this if acceptable i.e. OK to have the stove face a water position. In general; the most inauspicious is the kitchen is at the north of the house. (For example, if one stands at the centrepoint and use a compass. If the kitchen is at the north direction; this is not very favourable. To be honest; the only Feng Shui remedy is to r…

Dear Madan, If the Flying Stars are ok at this sector; since the person is a weak metal person; it is best to harmonize the room to this person's element. Thus, for a weak metal person, the best element to help him/her is "earth" element (yellow, cream or beige). This is the best "boost" as earth helps to fuel or increase weak metal. Another element that is favourable to this person is `metal' which is white or gold. Therefore, as you had mentioned if this sector is balanced and if there are no bad #5 or #2 earth stars here, then the best colour for the bedroom is cream or beige i.e. on the walls. And we can also harmonise this room by adding metal e.g. white or `gold' c…

My daughter is almost 8 months old, born in November 2002. Her cot faces the nursery door, with her feet facing the door. Unfortunately I am unable to put the cot in another position in her room. Neither end of the cot is against a wall. Is there something I can hang above the door or on the hallway wall opposite the door to aid her sleep as I am of the understanding it is not good feng shui practise to have her cot facing a door. Many thanks Mel

Dear Cecil, Thank you very much for the quick response. I am quite understand now about the houses on hilltops. But how about those houses having the stove sit right at the northwest corner which burn the breadwinner's luck? My friend is hesitate to move in such a house but all the neighbors who have the same floorplan seem to have lived there peacefully for years. I also have another question concerning about the four animal symbols. In your major Fengshui theories online, you describe the north is tortise and south is phoenix. The house should sit against the hill (tortise, north) and facing the south. But my house is facing the north (open space) and against a hill (so…

  7. Dear Master, I read in a Flying Star Feng Shui book by a famous author that you can change the Flying Star natal chart of the house by remodeling. i.e. if you have a house that is built in period 5, you can change the house into a period 7 (if remodeled in period 7) or period 8 (if remodeled in period 8) house by putting in new roof and new carpeting or flooring. Thus the old house would have a new natal chart in the remodeled year instead of original built year. Is this a valid statement? So if I buy a house that has bad flying star natal chart, I can remodel the house and make it have more auspicious flying star natal chart based on the new period. Thank you in advance …

Dear Cecil Thankyou for your time.. I desperately seek your help on behalf of myself, my family and my business. I live in Australia with my wife and 2 daughters (aged 6 & 9). I was born on 17th May, 1959 and am a self-employed 'Internet Business' owner.. A) Last year (Feb-June 2002), we renovated our home to build a 70 square metre 'Home Office' to enable a hopeful expansion of our business and income, which had been suffering for some 2 years whilst building our business. Only Half way through renovations we consulted our Feng Shui books and learnt of 'Grand Duke' presence in the area of the new changes.. All through the building upgrades, obstacles seemed to keep c…

  9. Dear Caroline, Under the Eight House Theory, there is relatively, nothing much else one can do other than try to face a favourable direction. In fact, having one's back to a `glass' wall is not necessarily bad so long as there is a back row cabinet behind us. Usually, this cabinet is at the same level as our side partition. This is symbolic of a mountain position. Often, other objects (placement of charms or figurines) in most cases are more of Ren Cai or Human Luck factor. This affects us mentally than - as a charm or help. In fact, nowadays, our table have little real-estate given that we already have a monitor or keyboard and mouse. Warmest Regards Cecil

Dear Fran?oise, 1. It is never wise to use Gua number to guage compatibility. 2. The biggest obvious reason is that `statistical' nightmare considering that between a pair or couple: such a compatibility is 50-50 percent chance. 3. Since, all of us belong to either East or West group. And majority of the time: it will end up either being " compatible e.g. East with East group or the other 50 percent of the time East with West group. 4. In the professional Ba Zi analysis; a better method is to look at compatibility in relation to ba zi. For example, Husband is a weak fire person. And wife is a strong water person. In such a situation, often, the dominant party is the wife.…

Dear Anon, In compass readings, there is no right or wrong answers. Often, this is a `live' subject based on the dwelling. For more information, please go thru this resource:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm For example, taking a reading from the centrepoint or the flux, in my opinion, is one of the methods used, here also. One has to remember that we are not living in the past. In the past, if one looks at all the Chinese homes, the main door is often the `facing' direction. Nowadays, many apartments, flats and bungalows often have doors at the side. And to say that standing at the door facing out to read a direction is as subjective as any ot…

I am planning to build a house on it very soon. I am the breedowner and my birth date is 20 Mar 1969. What major consideration in the designing the house? Thanks for the advice.

Dear Maggie, In my opinion, numerology is very diverse - and subject to so many interpretations. For example, for some, number 13 is an unlucky number. But for others, it is ok. If one is in Hong Kong or Guandong China; then one may meet up lots of Cantonese dialect group. Here, the spoken phonetic word for number 4 literally translated as `die'. But if you are in Singapore, most likely, this is less of an issue, since the majority dialect group is made up mostly of Hokkiens who come from Fujian Provience in China. In fact, I have come across so many Singaporeans that has house number 4 or 44 or 444. Car number plates with 4444 etc.. and even phone numbers with such numb…

  17. Dear Anon, In my opinion, the key success factors are: 1. Location, Location and Location The three L's are the most important consideration. For most of forum members - this refers to Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. 2. Next; are the critical and nice to have: 2.1 Flying Star Feng Shui - It would be nice to have - double (something) at the main entrance. For example under current Flying Star period of 1984 to 2003; it is nice to have doube 7's at the main entrance. 2.2 Where possible, under the Eight House, best not to have death or disaster sectors at the main entrance. It can still be. But often, this is already like a broken arm even before one moves into the home. 2.3 Ba …

Dear George, Please note that this general assessment is strictly based on Shapes and Forms with no reference to personal ba zi (date/time of birth). 1. One good thing about this layout is that the toilets are at `safe' positions (sharing an external wall) - therefore, they cannot be at the centrepoint. 2. The `major' dislike is the staircase at the centrepoint. But, this is not a major problem - more of an irritation. 3. I like the layout of this staircase:- http://www.newurbanist.com/ac2110.htm BUT not the layout of the toilet i.e. the bath-tub at ground floor is close to the centrepoint and the second storey (level) bath-tub is equally not well placed. 4. The stove fac…

  19. Dear Richard, Please see below:- In authentic heaven and earth luck assessment, here are the main considerations: 1. It would be a disadvantage for a weak fire or strong water person especially the breadwinner to have a water position inside his / her home. 2. In authentic Feng Shui; the true `meaning' or the closest to a wealth corner for a water position is thru the application of Flying Star Feng Shui. For example, locations that have #6 or #7 and if the condition - is applicable; can exist with water position. Often, and depending on the Managing Agents or later, the MCST; such areas are common property. And, some condos have strict rules on placing anything a…

Dear Wilson, The day of the Heavenly Stem is the stem which determines your ba zi element. It will not change under any combination. ie. if the Heavenly Stem is Wood, but a combination between Day and Month changes both element of the Day and Month to Fire, your birth element is still Wood. However, how weak or strong your Wood is will be affected by the various changes in the five element that are found in your chart. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Ellen, The Kallang River canal seems to be slicing into the area where Blk 124 and the Macpherson constituency building makes this block so, so. Better unit is opposite of the canal. Since you mentioned that the canal will be covered, this is better. Since this is a point-block, where qi can flow all round it, this is a plus point. Overall, I would say that it is an `average' site. (However, still in general ok.) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master Cecil, I just started to learn Feng Shui 2 weeks ago. It is so interesting to me. I am eager to learn everything. We are going to move into a new house soon. The house is facing North and sitting South. I checked out Eight direction for me and my husband. My husband is a North East person (was born 09/1965) and I am a South West person ( was born 12/1969). Our main entrance is in Spook and Death sectors. I was shake. I do not know what to do? Question 2 is about Fish Tank. Where should I put it ? Will be good in the excellent and prosperity sectors ? Or other sectors ? Question 3 is about Wind Chime. Dear Anon, 1. Yes, washing machines should be considered as a water position. 1.1. Especially front loading washing machines that has a circular glass pothole. 1.2. Thus it is less than ideal for this glass pothole to face the stove. 2. In addition, water pipe is used to draw in water into it at the back and the output of dirty water is also produced. 3. A microwave is (contrary) to popular belief - belongs to the metal element. Since, it's energy is concentrated inwards. Fire is not used to conduct this energy but instead microwave (metal) element is used to disturb the molecules to cook them. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jen, Let's take alook at commonsense approach to Feng Shui. Often, the most convenient place to walk in and out of various rooms is a passage-way. Here, imagine a passage way (or clear space at the centrepoint of the home). In better Feng Shui homes, this corridor or area is the `flux' or centrepoint of a home. A low set of sofa furniture is still ok, since, it represents clear space i.e. nothing at this `centrepoint' that is as high as a wall. Please note that it does not necessary mean that all homes must have clear space here. It depends. What is not so favourable are locations like: a toilet / toilet bowl and a kitchen's stove etc... Under commonsense approach t…
