Dear Anon, There are two dimensions when looking at the placement of a fish tank: 1. Shapes and Forms Often, the advise is to place it on the same wall along (but not close to) the main door. (Around the main door location) Avoid placing it at the centrepoint of the house. 2. Flying Star Feng Shui Under Flying Star Feng Shui, locations that has #7 and or #6 (PLUS) also that this is a water location e.g. the living room area - can be considered acceptable for a water postion. But under Flying Star, becareful not to place a water position at locations which #3 or #4 or multiples of these bad wood element. The rationale is that such a water position can `inflame' bad wood fu…

Dear Anon, 1. Hopefully, the red string does not stain or release red colour. Else simply rinse it with soap and water and leave it to dry. 2. In my opinion, although 3 represents wood and under the destructive process of Five elements concept: Metal destroy wood, often, this have very little success. It has more to do with `ren chai' or human luck. We want to believe in feeling lucky, that's all. Equivalent to the notion put to us by many Geomancers' that all of us have a wealth corner in a home. It is only to give us a sense of satifaction. For those who have watched Chinese period dramas or shows - and see the furniture arrangement, have anyone yet to see a show with…

Dear Anon, Stand at the window(s) to see if the tree trunk slices into the home? If no, this is not a threat to your home. This can be seen as a "commonsense" approach. Often a dead tree is prone to rot / termites (if any). And because of this issue, it can be considered unhealthy. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mr Low, Overall, the earth element has only one main colour i.e. yellow or shades of it such as: cream or beige. (No other colour represents it). A safe element is often:- 1. White (metal) element. Or a combination of water element and gold such as the colour of the wrought iron gate / grille where often: the background is black and gold is splashed onto it. Ideally, one has to take extra care of using fire (red, pink or purple) at such sectors. As fire may inadvertently fuel bad earth #5 or #2 if they are present at that sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Peck Wun, Please see below:- No, it is not necessarily true that all new HDB apartments have toilet at the centrepoint. There are many which have a bomb shelter at or close to the centrepoint. Often, a toilet at the centrepoint is considered as one major leak. It is akin to having a fractured arm even before moving into the home. It is because of such a leak plus additional leaks such as the house is not suitable to the breadwinner etc.. that will give problems later to the breadwinners. I must stress therefore, that often; it is not just one leak but several leaks that cause a problem. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Flemming, 1. It depends. Most and foremost, one has to look at the layout plan of the interior of the house. 2. Often, since the living room and dining room are close or next to each other, the placement of the sofa has to be looked into under the context of the living room vs dining room. 3. Often, it is good to create two symbolic rectangles between the living room and dining room area. 4. Factors like the shape of the living/dinning room should be looked into closely. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Frankly, there is no harm in placing a cross on your door. Often, when we read about Feng Shui, often it is not good to have two doors directly facing each other. This is because, there may be a possibility or a high probability of logger-heads between the two parties. For example, small things such as shoes strewn along the main enterance or noise coming from the neighbour. Even uneasyness of lack of privacy if both parties open their doors is considered unfavourable. Given all these, there is therefore a high chance of neighours being irritated with each other. A Lose-Lose situation? A lose-lose situation is when each party view the other with concern. For e…

Dear Cecil Your site is well built, I found some answers to my problems but I am still puzzled with our new environment. My in-law just bought this house and we moved in with her. We stay in the master bedroom which I know there exists some problems; yet I know there's nothing as perfect. My husband's career has been very bad these days. Hence, I am attaching the floor plan of my bedroom hoping you can help us. My husband's birthday is April 19, 1953. My questions for my bedroom are as follows: 1) If we don't want to remove the mirrored cabinet doors (my husband is not convinced yet, and I want to prove it to him) is there any other way we can do? 2) He sleeps on the righ…

Dear Anon, Since, the tree slices into the house (thru the main entrance): this is considered inauspicous. Or a threat to the house. The cul-de-sac is an added `burden' to the house. Thus, this is two bad / bad situations. No, it does not mean here that the cul-de-sac metal slices into the wood tree. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  16. Dear Cecil, I just moved this past weekend, and in the 72 hours flanking this move, I have had unbelievable bad luck. This might sound crazy, but I broke a mirror while trying to detach it from the wall of my old apartment. Two days later, all hell broke loose. I got into a car accident while driving down to my new apartment to pick up my new keys. The other driver was at fault, but he took off and left me with a huge dent in my civic's northwest corner--a classic hit and run which unfortunately, didn't give me enough time to get his license plate number. Then, 1 hour late, I drove to the U-haul place and suffered the condescending attitude of the male Korean owner who wa…

Dear David, 1. Water position includes: any fountain or fish tank. 2. In addition, colours such as blue, black or gray also represents water element. This is particularly so, for the interior of the home. 3. A water position outside of the house often is excluded under the above definition. Water position outside the house can be based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

dear master lee, does it matter if sha qi is directed at the windows instead of the main door? if so, what about a ba gua or mirror to neutralise it? i'm not keen in the traditional geometric ba gua, can a normal circular mirror be used? does the size matter? last query, can i place the mirror, at the bottom of the window cos trying to hammer a nail above the window out of the eighth floor is ill-advised.thanks. regards stan

Dear Anon, To give an example of a `minor' leak:- A house can be very unsuitable to the breadwinner: i.e. death / disaster i.e. the front door. Often, this is considered as a major leak. If the main door is the `irritation' and `spook' sector, this can be considered as a `minor' leak. Some other simple minor leaks include e.g. a wall clock facing out of a living room window. Often, it is difficult for some of us to understand what are major and minor leaks. But, take it this way, any leak: major or minor may contribute to an accumulation of problems. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master Cecil, I have heard from my friends that the year of the Goat is not exactly a great year to be married in. So we are considering setting our wedding date for the Chinese wedding ceremony in the year of the Monkey. Please advice us on when it is more auspicious to get married in the year of the Monkey. If you would like to know, I belong to the fire Snake(1977), whilst my husBand-to-be belongs to the fire Rabbit (1975). Thank you so so much in helping us.

Dear White, 1. Frankly, this does not come under the perview of Feng Shui. 2. Often, it is based on location, location, location and the selling price. 3. But, currently with the glut in the property market i.e. where buyers are spoilt for choice, it really - unfortunately makes it much harder to sell even if it is near to the valuation price. 4. Overall, based on many Real Estate agent's advice: 4.1 Try not to clutter the house with too many furniture. 4.2 Try to touch up areas or walls that are dirty. Otherwise, Feng Shui is not the way to go, here. Unless, you can find good `Feng Shui' points. Here again, one man's meat is another man's poison. Wishing you all the b…

Dear Master Lee, Thanks for your clarification. It has been bothering me for the past few years. As a matter of fact, I have moved from Malaysia to HK for work and feeling settled now and have become PR (more than 7 years). Well, I am not sure if it suitable to use the word "emigrate" because the distance is not really far anyway. For the past few years, things have been "so-so" - not really bad, and not extremely good. From time to time, I will think of the statement that person made stating that my "BA ZI" will not "allow" me to stay overseas. I have been working hard and try not to relate any negative stuffs with that "statement" he made. Thanks GOD I found your web an…

Dear Anon, 1. Besides the layout plan; another most important element is the flow of qi - into the house. 2. if there is a relatively clean / unpolluted lake, often, this is a plus point for various reasons. 3. A lake, close-by will often have another `secret' weapon in Feng Shui: trees and plants. And often, with such ecology; it will sustain life (animals or insects). And in many countries, some of these lakes are water catchment areas. 4. Thus, it may not be unnecessarily bad for a lake. 5. Sometimes, if our house has a patio or deck facing the lake; it may mean that this could instead be the frontage of the house. 6. Please note that not two situations are similar a…
